Back in ‘96, as a Panthers fan in the old Miami Arena, I cheered in earnest, misty eyed, for The Avalanche as they lifted and skated The Cup. It is a revered tradition, and bigger than partisan fandom. If the Panthers win up there Saturday night, I’ve got to figure that the good people of Edmonton, with their rich history of the Gretzky Cups and love of the game, would cheer for the Panthers and respect the accomplishment of winning the most coveted trophy in sports. Do you think they would rise to the occasion, or sink into bitter jealousy and anger of being swept?

INTEGRITY CHECK: Now at 3-3, Game 7 in Sunrise, I hope my fellow Panthers Fans (all 6 of us) will rise to the occasion if the impossible happens and the Cup is skated by them.
