What's that one MOD you can't live without? Mine is ๐๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ฅ๐ ๐ฃ๐๐ค. [FO4]
Fallout 4The worst thing is keys and passwords not being their own tab. Along with notes and holotapes not having their own tabs.
76 solves this by giving you a key ring. Probably a mod in 4 too. Holotapes and Notes are separated too lol. So are Armor/Apparel and Aid/Food.
Ironically new vegas has a key ring also. Guess they gotta take steps backwards sometimes...
76s key ring SUCKS tho since it dosnt work in the stash transfer menu
FallUI solves this.
Iโm on console
FallUI mixed with ImmersiveHud is incredible
Can I just use one of the 2 on Xbox since I have very little mod space left? Do both of them fix the Misc and Junk section clutter?
Actually none of them are on Xbox. They all require the script extender, which is only available on PC
I'm pretty sure there is an Xbox version of ImmersiveHUD, if I recall. You can hide different portions of the HUD through a holotape menu.
I think both are on Xbox actually, obviously lighter versions tho
I don't mod as much as I used to because of this. I install all this shit and see maybe 10% of it because I get bored with all the pretty shiny things.
Keeping stuff simple is way better and that's why I like just dropping back and playing vanilla or lightly modding.
When you oversaturate the game with a ton of mods, it starts to not feel like the game you were wanting to play to begin with.
Ironically I'm in another thread talkinga bout turning fallout 4 into tarkov with as few mods as possible, but still big changes to the game lol.
I just recently backed up my old load order and started fresh for this reason - I had so many armour and weapon mods that I never used any vanilla stuff. So this time I'm only using settlement mods and some vanilla-friendly graphics enhancements.
If you want something really cool for weapons, get the attachment pack and the intergration patch if you're on xbox.
It adds a bunch of new attachments/mods to weapons and then injects them into the worldspace so that 10mm pistol the raider is using isn't just a plain one, but is kitted out to add a little diversity. I use it and Munitions + Conversions so that there's all these new ammunition calibers for some of these guns. It's the only set of weapon mods I run and it's easily my favorite set.
That's why I generally like using mod packs like Midnight Ride or Viva New Vegas. Bugfixes, some light texture packs, and a ton of really minor but really nice tweaks that just make everything feel way smoother. Small little things like making leaving a workbench require one less button press and a faster animation, making Dogmeat walk behind you so he doesn't block you, or small gameplay changes that aren't immediately obvious but just makes things feel better as a whole.
I don't need 100 new poorly balanced weapons and 50 new armor types.
I have to stop myself cause I want all the lore friendly weapons, but stepping back and just enhancing the vanilla weapons in a fun way has worked out great for me.
I think going for a small number of the most highly rated weapon and armor mods can be fun, I just don't like the insane bloat. I remember downloading a huge modpack years ago and the number of random goofy variants of weapons was insane. The good ones are able to seamlessly blend into the base game. I don't like the ones that you can instantly pick out as feeling VERY modded, it gives everything a big inorganic feeling to me.
Especially if LL Injection is wrong so you got a ton of one weapon. It takes you out of it's easily
I definitely agree.
Fallout 4 tarkov does pique my interest, though.
SKK has a pair of mods that go together for it. SKK Tarkov raids and SKK Tarkov Hideout.
If you just want to do raids in as bare bones manner as possible then that's how you'd go about doing it. It dumps you in a random part of the map and you have to make it back to your hideout within the time limit with loot. If you die you lose what you had, which funnily enough also includes setting menu stuff lol, but you can always recraft.
Then just add animation replacers ontop of vanilla weapons and maybe munitions, ECO + Neo , conversions and the attachment pack and there you go. You're off to the raids!
Go to Midnight Ride modlist guide or MOFAM if you want more stability playthrough with an expert advice/tutorial. I currently have 500+ mods and the only time i crashed is memory issue(although i solved it too for some reason when i followed instruction from autoscan crash log with Buffout 4)
Note : MOFAM is heavily modded guide compare to Midnight Ride so you'll have to choose which one that pick your interest. I do MOFAM and only take MR basic game engine fixes and utilities.
I had that stalker one for ages now I canโt remember what the mods were to revert it cause I know it was like 3โฆjust too lazy to look at the mod page
Try quick step(req)+ADS lean, itโs a game changer :)
Download FallUI
Less is more.
I wish Bethesda did their own see through scopes.
why not throw in graphical and performance mods tho?
Fallout Suite - Soundtrack Extension For Fallout 4
It was released in mid 2016 and just adds several tracks to run alongside the base game's ambient soundtrack. The songs fit with Fallout 4s aesthetic and vibe well and add a lot to just exploring the wasteland. I've never had a bug with it and it feels weird without after using it for so many years.
may check that out
True Nights for True Storms with ENB pairs really well with True Storms.
This is the way! Will never using darker nights again
I don't seem to have any issue with darker nights, any reason you prefer true nights?
I used one of those night mods, kept crashing my game on Xbox, wouldn't even make it to the menu and it crashed, had to clear all data, add mod one by one, started crashing again after adding the night mod back. Not sure if it was conflicting with another mod causing it, but I just avoided using it again
Try NAC X Lite, but no other weather/lighting mods. Itโs a little big but it has every customization option for ambience youโll ever need
Oh nice, thank you, next time I'm on
I had the same issue with True Nights! I run a fairly light LO (True storms is my only other visual mod), and canโt figure out why it would chug and crash. I just got โShadow Resolution 2048 > 512โ, I might try re-enabling True Nights to see if that helps. Maybe true nights changes the way shadows are rendered so a lower resolution will help performance?
any reason why you prefer true nights?
Atomic Radio. If I could have only one mod, it would be this. The production quality is incredible and its tone fits the world perfectly.ย
Is it different on PC? I tried to like it but just couldnโt. 95% fictional ads, 4% the exact same music on DCR, 1% radio dramas.
Really high quality but just far, far too many fake advertisements and no unique music. WRVR is probably my favourite.
Is that the one with the radio plays? If it is, I remember sitting in that game for hours and doing nothing but listening to those.
Cheat Terminal. I've played the game so much that the first hour or so is so unbearably boring that I just give myself everything I need to get past Kellogg and play the game from there.
Real shit
deep answer
Same with me, although sometimes I'll be a bit more limited with what I spawn in, sometimes just a few outfits or guns I'd rather start off with.
Yeah, I like starting off with a couple of the more balanced weapon mods I install, I usually justify it as Nate having guns at home and Codsworth having been there to prevent looting.
Same thing, my headcanon is that since he's an Alaskan veteran, he brought home some toys and we're kept hidden
Why not use Start Me Up?
I use that aswell, forgot about it lol. But it doesn't skip enough of the start for me.
It skips the entire start
I don't think you understand where I skip to lol.
awwww dont wanna do the heavy lifting!?
Games are supposed to be fun. The first act of the game is no longer fun to me. It's boring and tedious. So...Cheat Terminal.
Stick to watching Hentai. Not everyone wants to replay the same starting mission a million times
Edit*
I got the virgin nerd to block me by mentioning his Hentai addiction ๐
Often, that's the whole point of the mod. You realize you're in a discussion about mods right?
They said the first act is boring. Difficulty is not the issue here...
OP is trying to skip the entire Act I and start Act II where Kellog dies and the Prydwin flies in.
Classic Holstered Weapons, it just works.
Anything by SKK50
They really make some top quality mods. Downloaded Combat Stalkers the other day and it makes the game a lot more challenging and dynamic, especially when set to max difficulty and group size.
Same. Dynamic Damage Manager and Feral Nights are a lock for me each time
I combo their Combat Stalkers with Random Encounters, NPCโs travel, several mods that add/expand Raider Factions, You And What Army 2, Minuteman Squads.
It makes a Minuteman playthrough pretty epic, and really makes Fallout 4 feel like a living world. Sometimes youโll be walking somewhere, crest a hill, and witness a squad of minuteman clearing out a Gunner Outpost without any input from you.
Concord is often basically meme Tombstone. There are usually at least two raider factions duking it out for control, occassionally neutral NPCโs just trying to pass through, and sometimes Minutemen will show up to try and clear the town.
I added the Alias series of mods that gives NPCโs unique random names, and it is remarkable how attached you can get to random NPC allies. There was a random Minuteman squad that managed to keep Concord clear for a long period of time. I started collecting weapons and equipment and would upgrade them whenever I passed through.
Eventually something took them out while I was in Diamond City, and finding their corpses was hella poignant
You know, I think I might give that a try sometime. One of my main gripes with the game is that the world seems so empty a lot of the time in a lot of areas. I like the dynamic of roving NPCs and I've been looking to do a really good Minutemen playthrough for once. Thanks for that input.
No worries. With this amount of interacting mods, I would strongly recommend reading both mod descriptions and the posts section of each mod so you know what you are getting into
This and project reality footsteps
A forest. Nature would've reclaimed the land after 200 years. I love how everything is now covered in moss. This mod paired with Mutant Menagerie is quite the treat.
We are the Minutemen. I could do without every other mod I have, but dear lord do the minutemen need some content
This is why i love SSM2 and making my head canon that ll the 50+ settler settlements i make are actually my army growing
FallUI because the vanilla UI is poo poo
The T-49 Power Armor, I just love it way more than any other custom power armor, it looks really good with the vertibird blade mod or just a straight-up claymore, as well
the one with the hood is sick
Just wish there was a version that was cosmetic, I don't like the enemy highlighting and the invisible feature
Just Vanilla Sprint for Fallout New Vegas.
That is the one thing I dislike about New Vegas, I want to explore its wasteland but jogging everywhere just doesn't cut it.
100x faster terminal displays
If your screen is that wide, why is the FOV so distorted?
because reddit does do 32:9 video well it squishes it to a 21:9 format or close to it
Ah.. I see. Iโm not on UW yet, but good to know. Also, the mod is essential for me too. FadingSignal is one of the best.
I like True storms... but crashed my game every time I engaged in combat while there was a storm LOL
Endless fusion core. And immortal cats.
Kinda reminds me of the blowouts of the Zone.
Live dismemberment
Modern Firearms because the vanilla weapons are kinda boring.
Agreed. I absolutely hate the pipe weapons the most.
I forget to whom it belongs to, but thereโs a good pipe weapon remesh/rework on xbox
Lately? The attachment pack. I typically play close to vanilla as possible and the attachment pack adds a lot of really nice vanilla friendly attachments.
Lunar Fallout Overhaul. The vanilla game balance is just so broken.
I forgot the name but it's the mod where you can have a companion together with Dogmeat
Mine is Old World Radio, lol. I'm a Radio Mod fanatic.
Everyone's Best Friend and Weightless Junk
Realistic SMG , better institute weapon , Special book craftable overpass limit, stronger inspirational perk, minigun great again , happy maker 9000, settlement objects interact , misselanous settlements items , OC decorator, nytra ,far LESS fog AND dr Mobius infinite Stash.
lol my man I said one. J/k
Happy maker 9000.
Extended Dialogue Interface and Silent Protagonist F4SE. There are some quirks to it, but it makes role-playing more fun to me.
MAIM+True Damage+Hardcore Health
Makes combat deadly and satisfying. Gunfights even with pipe pistol wielding raiders eff you up if you're not smart. Stealth is a must. That junk you use for armor is probably not going to stop much more than .38 caliber rounds, if that. Only with power armor should you attempt stand up firefights, and if you don't, better learn how to ambush, use traps and explosives. Get hit in the head, expect tenitis and blacking out, assuming it doesn't just kill you right there. The good news? Noone is a bullet sponge. Scoped rifles become your best friend. Tag some attacker with a good shot, and you might be able to wait them out while they bleed to death (if they can bleed at all, of course). Frustrating sometimes, but the satisfaction is indescribable when you pick off enemy camps without getting scratched.
What does maim stand for?
The World Is Dying/World is Dead. Base game is too easy and resources are too abundant. TWID makes it pretty damn harsh in almost all aspects
Cheat Terminal. Being able to jump high and run fast, and create quest items to skip quests is great
On god True Storms is so good but to me itโs โMuch better 3rd Person Animationsโ and all the other extra third person animation mods
I could live without the sand storm, but other than that, it's a must have mod.
Tbh whispering hills is pretty decent just for the dark and random enemies, needed a night vision mod just to see at night
Live Dismemberment (FO4)
I prefer Vivid Weathers as true storms adds too many weird storms that don't make any sense like the nuclear bombs Just Happening all the time and the buyer storms where things just start catching on fire. Too much stuff for me. But I understand it is probably the coolest one
I'm on console so Cheat Terminal. Other than my very first playthrough I have never played without it.
Old World Radio Boston. I need my Cadillac Jack's Radio Shack.
Full Dialogue Interface + Full Dialogue Interface LOOKUP FAILED fix
The vanilla dialogue menu is just dogmeats shit.
The "Quieter" version, the other version in my opinion has a bit too loud sound.
I think it makes the game more immersive, the doors seem older and creakier. it's a mod that has always been present in my load orders since 2019
Start Me Up - Literally customize if youโre even Nate/Nora. Your level, place you spawn at. Alternate Start mods are a hard requirement in all Bethesda games.
Silent Protagonist - I donโt wanna hear Nate/Noraโs voice. Good voices but one playthrough was enough. I want to create my own characters backstory. I ainโt your mommy/daddy, Shaun.
Immersive Hud - Hud when you need, Hide when you donโt. For all bethesda games!
In Fallout 3 it was Owned. Anyone you kill you own all of their stuff and their house.
Better Living through Chems - Chem visual overhaul.
My custom mods for the museum, underworld, and the ninth circle.
For New Vegas I just modded out ED-E to have custom voice files from a bunch of stupid sources and made his gun drain stamina. So there was this little robot that just shot all my enemies until they ran out of stamina and fell over while it talked shit at them. He had the Metal Gear ! sound when he found enemies.
Search and Destroy. Very simple mod that extends enemy awareness radius, time they look for you if they detect something, and nerfs stealth to the point you actually have to be sneaky.
Because of how npcs are spaced out to not interact with each other that much, this mod makes the entire Commonwealth come alive, and interact with itself. It also makes it seem like the NPCs have a 100 IQ instead of a 50 IQ.
Itโs on the Bethesda mod list, so should be pretty easy on any platform to get.
Isn't search and destroy hard scripted?
Or is that pack attack mod?
Weather redux
Mutant Menagerie or Dakโs Attachment Pack
Both add so much variety to the game.
I love the ghoul hordes, i turn it down to about 10% chance, tho, if you dont, it will be a nightmare if you go into the glowing sea. I also really love hearing the screeches and howls in the distance as they get closer
NAC X, it's just SO GOOD
Cheat Terminal
Does it affect the performance?
My problem with true storms is it seems to have trouble recognizing that Iโm inside a building during a heavy storm if thereโs no loading screen, so itโs very jarring in my sanctuary settlement
I remember that bugging me when I tried to do a winter playthrough. Still not fixed?
Not for me at leastโฆ I ended up just disabling and starting a new mod pack lmao. I prefer lighting rehauls anyways and a lot of them have conflicted with true storms before
Heather Casdin
Great NPC followers overall. Her comments to super mutants are awesome.
The way she bashes Piper is hilarious.
True storms does add something nice. I like adding lore friendly weapon and armor mods and just playing the game and finding cool stuff.
F4se
I love True Storms. I always max out the ghoul horde chance and spawns, so going into the Glowing Sea is actually troublesome and rad storms popping up give me a reason to hide indoors.
Jet pack/no fall damage.
Delirium. Once you've adapted to the gameplay changes the mod makes, it's impossible to play vanilla fallout 4 anymore. I routinely find myself *still* looking for certain Delirium-only items in 76 even.
This post is not even sponsored, I just love the mod that much that I'm willing to tell everybody about it.
Cheat terminal and ECO. I have played though this game so many times I no longer care to be bothered by much. I am now just looking for little hidden area I may have missed or trying to collect all postcards and such. So with these 2 I now am an immortal god that has a bat that can one shot everything.
Cheat terminal. You can use it as much or as little as you want. You can respec, fix bugs, teleport your companion to you, advance companion dialog instead of farming affinity, or just go nuts with cheats if you like. The possibilities are endless.
Old World blues radio
For Fallout 4? Probably Bullet Counted Reload. I always add a pump shotty or two to my game, and not reloading the whole thing is very very nice.
For Fallout NV? Either Smooth Aiming or a various assortment of weapon reanimation mods, and the b42 collection. NV's gunplay has aged like milk and it definitely benefits from from a few QoL mods
Scrap Everything. Yes, it's the Apocalypse. But you can at least move the giant piles of garbage somewhere outside the settlement and move the corpses out of your bedroom.
F4SE
I have two I absolutely will not play without:
1.) Backpacks of the Commonwealth (Gotta have some physical storage to carry my arsenal, gear, supplies, and scrap in.)
2.) G3A3 (and the subsequent replacer) (Don't get me wrong, the FO4 combat rifle is a good rifle, but the assault rifle in the base game is just ugly. And I really wish that Bethesda had brought in the AR from FO3.)
Honorable Mention: Service Rifles (Come on! Why wouldn't you have this mod installed? You're getting M4 and M16A2s!! And you can mod those to be covert/spec ops tools of freedom!)
Unofficial update.
Always loved True Storms, it pairs beautifully with the Seasons Change mod to create a truly immersive experience. {More so when you're playing for a few hundred hours being able to experience the seasonal changes across the terrain keeps things feeling fresh.}
The mod I can't live without though has to be "Everyone's best friend" which lets you add Dog Meat as a second companion ontop of another npc. {Just like in NV how you could have Rex or Edie plus another companion.}
Feels nice to have my fur shadow at my side the entire adventure without having to give up on the otherwise excellent companion quests and other banter the rest of the cast adds.
Darker nights with an improved pipboy light mod
There are about 200 of them
I feel like I've hit the sweetspot in mods, I'm just shy of 30, but nothing really changes anything dramatically.
I replaced True Storms with vivid weathers and my stuttering basically ended.
Definitely KNVSE, really makes new vegas feel more alive, and FPGE as well, I like cut content :3
Amazing Follower Tweaks. Some people say it's dated, I don't care. It's everything you could need in a follower mod, AND the only one I found that lets you legitimately make followers killable (by enemies, not just yourself), if you're looking for that level of immersion.
Gas masks of the wasteland
Better locational damage and fallui
Itโs cool, but really annoying when it rains non-stop for 4 days
If I was only ever allowed to play with 1 mod ever again, it would have to be Place Everywhere. Probably 30-40% of my time spent playing Fallout 4 has been in the settlement mode, and PE helps to extend that time.
I use true damage mixed with scourge/realistic weapon damage by caliber. (Made by a YouTuber โitโs ya boy brandyโ)
Early on the enemies have weaker 38 weapons but as they slowly move towards higher calibers the game gets very challenging. A single 308 round from a sniper down the street will kill you at full health and most enemies canโt stand a 50 cal shot. I just love hitting an enemy and watching them drop like itโs real life.
Personally, Scrap Everything (what it says on the tin) and a mod I can't remember the name of which, among other things, causes the first power armor you get to explode after the deathclaw fight.
Im a huge sucker for the metro exodus series so when i found a mod called gas masks of the wasteland that brought my favorite part of the game from metro exodus into Fallout 4...i busted
Mines Workshop rearranged
Mine is probably Armorsmith Extended. I like being able to focus on fashion and functionality without really sacrificing one or the other.
I play survival so I have to have the Journey mod. I want to use my settlements without having to always walk. Setting up supply lines and only being able to fast travel that way feels more immersive without have to spend soooo much time walking back and forth.
NAC 9 it's true storms, darker nights, darker interiors, and faux emb all in one
Pipboy flashlight, survival settings and true storms are a necessity
im on console so i dont get good stuff like this :(
High fps physics fix, see through scopes, wheel menu, clarity.
America rising 2 Pip boy 2000 (with retexture "Integral") Extented dialogue interface Remove interior fog Radio Doroga
NAC X. It makes the game looks so much better, I can't imagine playing without it.
CBBE and looksmenu. Bethesda is known for very ugly player characters since Elder Scrolls Arena. (only elder scrolls : battlespire is the exception)
How dare you. Caius Cosades is the pinnacle of men.
Cauis Cosades is an npc.
Horizon.
War of the Commonwealth paired with true storms
because that is the game fallout4 should of been
CBBE, come on guys, I said it, you can follow suit and open up
I always end up dropping my modded playthroughs without finishing them, I think I add too much crap at once.
My current run I have weightless junk and see through scopes and that's it and I am LOVING it again. Might have to do something about the terrible ui though.
