I wouldn’t even say he was ever a good boy. In the Godfather book it’s stated that he seems to “radiate danger” before he was ever in the family business.
He’s so good. I love the narration his character gives throughout the movie. Maybe that’s more of a directorial decision but it really gets into the mindset of his character.
The final “opening statements” scene is my favorite monologue in any movie. There is this fascinating internal debate happening in him, and you watch him work through it in real time. Absolute master class.
Not my favorite of Al Pacino but Serpico deserves a mention. Such a great time capsule, i swear his goal is to look even more 70s each progressing scene.
He may have more iconic performances and more legendary movies from some of the best directors to ever do it but none of them stand a chance against my favorite movie of all time.
Any one ever seen panick in needle park. My grandfather got to work with him in that movie. There is a scene where he buying dope and my g pa is the one cutting it up for them. Really great movie tho on drugs in the 60’s/70s and what ny was like then.
This is difficult but I have to go with Serpico. It's such a human performance. Your heart breaks for the man. A moral man adrift in a sea of corruption. Brilliant acting.
Damn I gotta get caught up on some of these classic Pacino flicks, I haven’t seen a lot of the ones people are mentioning. For me it’s gotta be Glengarry.
I'm a 'favourites' guy that much, but, I recently saw The Insider and I liked him in that, it was an intense but not a yelly performance, and he played it with subtlety
Devil's Advocate. By explanation, I'm a lawyer and was a young associate in a big firm when DA was released. Pacino's character was a more extreme version of the partner I was working for at the time. The movie really flipped me out then, and even today, a few decades later, I get a quesy feeling in my stomach when I see it while channel searching.
Gotta say godfather. He’s a master
