PVE seriously needs longer raid timers especially on these larger maps. I spawned in Village and ran nonstop to do Signal Part 1 and Fishing Gear, had a few PMC encounters along the way that chewed up precious minutes each and saw pier extract was open so I went for it with about 20 seconds left only to discover it has a 30 second timer...
edit: also did not know that being MIA makes you lose insurance because it's the first time it's ever happened to me in 400-500 hours. I can get the stuff back though so it's not a huge loss, just another highlight of how unintuitive a lot of stuff in the game is. I've dropped stuff for insurance to bring back to me in the past but didn't think about it in this moment. (The end of raid screen specifically says that items insured by you will be returned even with the MIA end screen too)

I would agree but I think it's fine to not make it in time. They should make the extract timers more uniform though for all of these "playing pretend" ones. I get why I have to wait so long for D2 for example because the door has to open and I physically need to get in there but standing on the dock for 30 seconds LARPing that a boat is showing up or something just doesn't make any sense.
For extracts like the car or boat, it would be more interesting to have it come based on raid timer. So the "LARP timer" isn't just some arbitrary wait time but is directly connected to when that extract is available to take like having the boat dock when its time with you having to literally wait for it to finish docking, for example.

It could also be that you need to fuel the boat up too. Like needing to hit a switch on a fuel pump and then wait on that. They wouldn't have to include having a boat show up and it wouldn't immediately give away your position being there more than it already does.

Not watching the timer is rarely the problem. Most people are fully aware of how much time they have. It's more complex than that. Especially in a scenario that isn't intuitive like an extract that randomly takes 3-5 times as long as most others if you've never used it before. Or leaving with plenty of time left and running into unavoidable complications, PMC blacks both your legs and you kill him, fix both your legs, wave of 6 scavs shows up that you have to kill to move forward because you had to spend a full minute fixing your legs and healing. It all adds up. It's downright idiotic to suggest that someone should start to head for extract with huge excess time and they didn't deserve to win otherwise..

I'm not sure if you play Hunt Showdown or not but like I said, it's more complex than that. Just like Tarkov is also more complex than that. It's a feature of the game in Hunt for a reason.

That's 50 times that without it he wouldn't have succeeded... 50 is much much more than a pattern my guy. Either it didn't save him, or he needs to watch his timer better. Okay. Let me help you. In Hunt Showdown, once a person has claimed the last bounty, the timer is set to 5 minutes and everyone must extract. There is no "watch the timer" better. The timer changes literally mid-hunt. The bounty carrier is visible on the map to all players, so what tends to happen is hunters closer to the extract will go try to camp it, set tripwire traps on it, etc. A significant amount of fighting happens around the extracts. You don't get to just go there and leave most of the time, you need to clear traps off it and get in cover. Obviously it can take some time to deal with people to get out, especially due to things like necromancer which is a trait players can take which allows them to revive from the dead without any help. There is also a mechanic that allows players to contest the extract and block people from leaving if they enter the extraction zone with enemies. Which is why once you get in the extract it basically locks you in regardless of the hunt timer as long as you remain in the extraction zone. It is a mechanic of the game and it can "save" you if you have to fight someone off the extract past the regular raid timer.
Go back and read his comments. Hunt reduces the timer once the bounty is gone, you can watch the timer all you want but if that happens when you’re 5 mins 10 seconds away from an extract, that’s hardly your fault for not watching the timer…
If you haven’t played it, the timer gets shortened to 5min once the bounty extracts, and it could take that long to get to an extract if you are across the map for some reason.
It takes about 3 and a half minutes to cross either map in hunt with a noob hunter. Also, you should be aware the bounty has been picked up and is moving to the extract, there is a lightning bolt on the map that follows them.
But then you miss out on all those nice burner traits from meatheads ;)

Nope, pretty good day, just confused how you can say something saved you 50 times, and think that it's not a pattern. There is just no logic in your statement. If it has "saved" your raid, then you needed the extra time, from not watching the timer or some other thing that got you there too late to get it. If it saved your game, that means without it, your game was lost. If the time is what you constantly needing saved from, you have a problem watching the timer.
Gunfights can take a very long time in Hunt, and you could be across the entire map. People will fight until the timer runs out and kill everyone just for the lulz if they can.
It's a semi regular occurrence, especially considering that the timer drops to 5 mins when the bounty leaves.
It's a QoL thing that would be good for tarkov as well.

Could be an “early extract” like even if you jump over it with at least 1 second left you still get out - then more pmcs might stay in game til the last second and go for more loot/rewards
Yes we have been asking for this since freaking.. god i don't know when we started asking. It is stupid as hell. If they want a debuff for doing that make it so we lose all hunger and thirst on extract i don't care. So dumb we stand at extract and it counts us as dead.

Its all about game knowledge. This stuff wont matter to you next wipe/full release/whatever tf they plan to do because you will have already planned it into your raid. This is a learning moment not a complaining one. Plan your raids better especially for single player theres almost no reason to be in raid for the whole timer even with pmc fights. Unless a task is on the way you should be otw to extract ~10 min left if not sooner.
Game knowledge is definitely crucial, but PvE mode has reduced times for all the maps. What he said he went and did should not eat the whole game timer like it does. With the increased timer on PvP, it wouldn't be a problem at all.
I mean I know the PvE timers are short but even when I was playing the last few wipes I wasn’t staying on any map for more than 20 min unless i had a weekly to kill a stupid amount of scavs (but with no actual players in PvE makes it less of a need). I can understand that it may not be everyone’s playstyle, but theres just an overall less reason to be ratting in PvE. If they did increase it, I think 35min max.
I mean in PvE there's no reason to not maximize the time you have in a raid since there are no other players. On almost every map I end up staying almost the full time even with a plan because of the scav armies that come or sometimes just trying to run super far. It's not a "learning moment" they do need to adjust timers a bit on some of the bigger maps like Shoreline and Woods because there's just not enough time to get everywhere.
Using your PvP experience to compare to PvE is kinda like comparing riding a motorcycle to driving a car, they both have engines and go fast, but are completely different.
Sometimes, even when I go in with a plan, there's just not enough time.
Interchange really seems to be bad for me - usually when me and my group spawn into interchange, the raid timer is at ~28-30 min. If we spawn opposite the power switch, running around the mall, then fighting the absolute horde of scavs to get to Kiba, then running out takes nearly the whole raid timer.
One time, we went in with the goal of only hitting Emercom Medical and Mantis, and then absconding with the chemicals for Skier. We just barely squeaked by the timer because we were getting hit with wave after wave of scavs and PMCs.
They really, really need to up the raid timer in PVE. I'm hoping whenever they make single person raids local to the player's computer that it will free up substantial server resources and they can increase the time.
I play both PvP and PvE the same way and it works out for me. You can also stay the entire raid in pvp without problems if thats what your plan is but staying in raid the entire timer is not efficient even with there being no real players. Also im not defending them shortening the time, but this is an at times shit game with shit developers. The odds they change this in a desired manner any time soon is slim and adapting to it will still benefit your ability to play the game whether it changes or not. Learn your maps and extracts better, learn where to get adequate cover and how to properly handle the ai pathing and tracking. All of these will help you move through the map more effectively. You don’t need to kill every AI to get to/away from a location. Im not saying you do this but i see a lot of my friends pick every fight they can every raid and nobody i know who is good at the game does this until they are REALLY good at the game, there are so many ways to avoid fights in a lot of situations. If you need loot/weapons, go in with no quests and a big bag just to fight.
Increase that time if you have a blacked or broken limb and no way to fix it/valuable items/quest items/quest doesnt save progress until you exit raid (signal is one of those quests i believe)
Why can’t you fix your legs?
Only a few reasons really. 1. There’s a quest where you can’t use meds the whole raid. 2. You blacked your leg and don’t have a surgery kit. Or 3. You broke your leg and don’t have a: splint, surv12, grizzly, painkiller or Alu splint.
There MIGHT be another reason or two, but those are beyond me

I see stuff like this but it must just be a skill level or unlucky encounters because I've started running shoreline for quests (PvE) and I've started at sunken village, through cottages, hit pier, hit the resort then stimmed a M.U.L.E and run for customs. Yeah you don't have time to do EVERY quest and you don't have time to loot EVERY room but that is a good thing. Makes you have to preplan a route instead of being a loot goblin. I run out of time on streets purely from greed. I was running to extract but seen Kaban was there so started engaging. By the time I was done and stimmed I run short of extract by 20 seconds. Basically an ohwell serves me right for not time managing properly.
I wasn't looting at all. I just ran into 2 sets of PMCs including a squad of 3 at the weather station combined with it getting dark towards the middle of the raid which makes everything take longer (which I don't really know what time exactly it starts to get dark, I guessed I had about enough light left but that was a mistake obviously). Unfortunately it's a bit more complex than "lol just pop a stim and run to exfil". Not everyone has MULEs on them or green stims either.
Don't know why anyone would downvote you on this. I agree its so stupid to expect people to always have stims but these people expect us to have injector cases at level 5 or something and MULES out the butt.
Well this is pve. Lvl 15 is done in 2 days and enough money for a stim case + all stims is made in 2 raids. Especially when the raid timers are that short getting one is highest priority.
Yeah thats why I mentioned unlucky encounters as well. Depending on how cracked the PMC is you can lose a good chunk of time killing them. I've only just started running mules due to having to bag toss to extract. I'd suggest throwing some in your container cause a 10min run turns into a 4min run so you have the extra time to not worry. For nights I generally run the feather colour scheme. Even though it's black and white it significantly increases your ability to see at night. I could do the boss event without night vision. I'm hoping after the server infrastructure upgrades the timers increase slightly so when I encounter the goons I'm not forced to make a play or risk running the timer down haha

I agree it needs to be longer but needs to be done at the same time as they make the AI better. The reduced time is one of main ways that raids stay spicy. I stopped running them but it’s literally the only barrier on some scav raids.

I really wish being at the Extract Point, even after the Timer runs out, would count, as long as it shows "Extraction in..." - this happened to me after killing Killa on Interchange, did not make it by like 10 seconds.

The game is so fucking behind when it comes to this, if you're in the extract and the raid timer runs out then you should just be able to extract, no questions. Hunt: Showdown does this and it works perfectly. May as well kick you out of the game if the extract timer is gonna be longer than the raid timer.
The game doesn't need to be longer if you are faster. I had to adapt as well and I barely loot now, when I quest I quest and only check high value loot. The thing is you can just farm infinite money on streets with marked keys and relax, for example. It's weird but it is how it is in PvE.

I have about 500 hours over a couple years which is relatively new but I've never used this extract before because of how exposed it is. I just never even attempted it until PVE was out because in PVP my default assumption is this would be camped every single time.
Surprisingly not very often. There's only a few places that have line of sight on it and if you lay down behind the boat unless someone watches you go out there they won't see you. You're more likely to get shot inside the fence looting the pier than on the dock.

This is why I think PvE (solo) should be hosted on your computer for yourself, and not using BSG's servers with a simulated flea market like that one other mod. . .
And maybe PvE coop could be hosted P2P?
So that way raids can definitely be extended more on PvE mode and free up alot of server space for BSG.
