My wife and I moved to Texas with hopes of fixing our marriage. It’s not working. She cheated on me a year ago and its still hard to deal with today. Will a divorce in Texas be “more fair” than in California? I work, she doesn’t. I have an 11yr (soon to be 12) and 13yr (soon to be 14). How would alimony work? I take home about 190k/yr.
Yes! A divorce will be more fair in any other state possible than California, New Jersey, or Massachusetts.
So yes! Get divorced in Texas!
Texas will require that she either get a job, or get an imputed income based on her abilities, but set to a minimum of "minimum wage 40 hours".
California will say, "awww. You're so mean! Forcing her to try to get a job! She's too sick to work, even if she doesn't qualify for disability. You have the ability to work 2 jobs to support her, so she doesn't have to work."
Fuck, I’m in Massachusetts.
She doesn’t work and I do. How would that hypothetically work?
You’re fucked. Another blue state that has divorce laws which are 100% anti male.
Be prepared for the WORST. That's all I can say. And yes, Lawyer up.
