Asteroid hyalosis is an eye condition characterized by small, white, refractile opacities in the vitreous humor. These opacities resemble stars shining in the night sky due to their reflective nature.
VideoDespite its classification as a permanent and degenerative condition, most people don’t know they have it. That’s because it doesn't usually affect your vision or cause symptoms
How the fuck??
Right? That shit def looks u blind
Yeah if that’s the case… I kinda want galaxy eyes…
Unzips….pencil pouch
Same! I just have permanent floaters.. I can see them but no one else can.
I think the floaters are due to damage to the back of the eye aren’t they?
I believe that’s one of the reasons. But my eye doctor doesn’t really know why I have it, it started when I was about eight years old, they would come and then go away for a little while. but when I was 23 they started coming in and didn’t disappear anymore. Now I see them most of the time and really well if I close my eyes and look towards light or plain surfaces.
Could be an immune response floaters can also be cause by white blood cells iirc.
At the risk of sounding dumb.. what is iirc?
My optometrist told me that that my case was a congenital birth defect… Apparently something in the back of my left eye didn’t fully develop before I was ready to be born.
I’ve got a ton of floaters in my 20s but I also remember staring at the sun as a kid until it wasn’t bright anymore lol… Thankfully they haven’t increased in number since childhood.
Fun fact: Floaters are normal unless you have a lot of them. Not to be confused with white blood cells that you see moving around through the blood vessels in your retina sometimes, especially when looking at something bright and smooth in color like the sky.
It looks like algae water to me tbh
yeah man I find it deeply unsettling
Yeah, at first it looked trippy and cool - but once I really focused on it my stomach turned.
unzips … aquarium?
Lmfaooooooo. Almost 5am and laughed so hard at this. Bless you
🫡 I did my job
fo sho
maybe it’s the same idea with eye lid hair. your brain has learned to ignore it
Same with your nose
I wish this worked for me. I'm constantly aware of my eyelashes, nose, and the frames of my glasses.
On the plus side, when I close my eyes at night, I'm treated to a constantly morphing field of colored static that forms almost fractal-like shapes.
the last thing about color static happens to us often with sudden darkness.
Well now that's got me fucked up. I just tried to look at my eyelashes and I feel like a fool. I can kind of see them when I squint I think, wtf, lol.
Same way things look fine if you look close enough through mesh.
The particles are so tiny (they look larger here because of the reflectivity, like a filament in a lightbulb) and close to the retina relative to the light source, that the shadows they cast only affect a tiny number of rods and cones. The resulting noise in the signal to the brain is filtered out in the brains processing of the signal. Anatomy is amazing.
Perhaps similar to how debris or damage on a camera lens' front element doesn't really matter much since the focus point is further back, not to mention your brain's ability to "filter" things.
Soo we get anime looking eye without side effect. Cool
Most people don't know they have it.. umm. U sure about that?
Right?? Bitches ain't seen a mirror in their lives??
It looks like this person has their pupils dilated and a Dr is shining a light in their eyes. It’s likely you can’t notice these in normal viewing conditions unless you look really hard. There are plenty of eye conditions that can only be diagnosed via ophthalmoscope
Alright.. no need to worry I am a trained professional here to alleviate ur pain and worries. If your not blind your going to be hold still.. ZAPP!!!

No, seriously, I just checked!!!
Edit: I don't have it...
Presumably until a doctor or someone shines a light directly in their eyes and tells them
So those star like eyes in anime art is pretty much realistic.
Wait… so you get a premium eye color skin and actually have normal eyesight?!
Guys got blessed with a nice cosmetic lootbox at birth.

Dracula explained
That’s actually incredibly dope as shit
No way, they have cool eyes without even paying anything, I'm getting jealous now
Me want it!
Cool then I want it.
I have a milder case of Asteroid Hyalosis in my left eye and see annoying squiggly floaters on occasion. Mine are more noticeable while waking up, while outside during the day, and at night while driving. I usually can just move my eyes around or blink and they’ll clear up a bit, but a few floaters always stay in my peripheral.
A very bright light. Source: video
Eye doctor here. Although, many of my patients who have this do not notice it. In dense cases they will notice the constant floaters and it will get in their way of reading and, can be debilitating in monocular cases.
can anything be donea?
Yes, they can have a victorrectomy and remove the vitreous. However, it will likely return. This is calcium phosphate salts the body has decited to deposit into the eye. Until the underlying reason for that is resolved, it won't go away.
Stars. They see stars everywhere.

Thank God I don't live in the 1600s...
Seeing as being left handed could get you accused this would certainly apply.
And they can see this ? Or does this blind them ? Cmon OP give us more can’t leave us hanging
Asteroid hyalosis is an age-related condition that causes tiny glittering particles to form inside your eyes. Most people don’t have symptoms, and it’s rare for this condition to be severe enough to need treatment. Cases that do need treatment are easily managed with a straightforward eye surgery called vitrectomy. -Cleveland Clinic
Please explain why you are calling a vitrectomy “straightforward”
It's so weird to think this doesn't just signify a busted eye, and that the fluid inside is so ... fluid.
Then again, your irises can contract into pin pricks and you still see fine, my guess would be that this doesn't do much beyond very noticable astigmatism, knowing what I know of camera lenses, only bright lights or high contrasts would be affected then.
The Spice... the Spice is Life.
On a side note: back around the year 2000 or so there was a cannabis seed company in Canada called "Spice of Life Seed Co" that sent me 100 seeds that turned into the finest smoke I've ever had, it was "the one hitter quitter" in real life, for years.
Wikipedia says It is found in humans, dogs and chinchillas.Usually does not require treatment, but can cause blurred vision
I read that as chihuahuas at first and was wondering why they weren’t just grouped with dogs
Chihuahua are more related to demons than dog
Riddick
Then you got to get sent to a slam, where they tell you you'll never see daylight again. You dig up a doctor, and you pay him 20 menthol Kools to do a surgical shine job on your eyeballs.
So this is what they mean when they say "you have a twinkle in your eye" 👁️✨
Somehow, seeing this stuff floating in the eye disgusts me on a weird phobia kind of level.
Me too. Makes me nauseous.
Real life Oshi no ko
Oshi no ko but all main characters have degenerating eye conditions and are practically blind by season 3
When the damn juice crystals won’t dissolve.
I’ve seen this in someone. His eyes were literally SPARKLING as he walked towards me.
Dude said he’d met so many girls.
does it look cool irl or just gross?
I was walking towards him. The sun was on his face. It looked like his eyes were sparkling. Like flecks of polished silver in his eyes. I had to stop him and say, “man… your eyes are sparkling in the light. “
He laughed and said he knows. The girls love it. If I remember correctly, he was a Puerto Rican.
And yeah. It looked cool.
That's horrible
If they wiggle their eyes and look up you can actually see yes or no answers to your questions appear in the middle
Imagine having this in medieval times, you'd be worshipped for being god.
or probably killed, depending on the century and place, for having "the devils eyes"
Only if you're a man, otherwise you're a witch, because if a woman can do the same thing as a man they must be using magic!
Poor Rhysand. At least now we know what makes them twinkle.
My wife would understand this reference
Your wife is probably a great gal! Nice name btw!
Nope
looks gross to me, puss in eye
The whole world is his personal snow globe.
spins eyes, forms tornado in eyes, gains anime power
This is the 5th or 6th post of this exact video I’ve seen gaining massive popularity on different subreddits in the last 2-3 days. Do cabals of strategtic posters get together and coordinate this? Strange.
Na, no conspiracy theory in this case: just saw an interesting video on X and decided to share it.
Exactly what a strategic poster kingpin would say…
I see it all the time, but this is a super cool example of it. Crazy it’s asymptomatic and it doesn’t impact vision at all.
Condition? That's an effing superpower! Sign me up!
Ask her a question and shake her head , Give it a few seconds and an answer will come out
Does it turn you into a Jukebox Hero?
Best pickup line, look into my eyes..... Let me show you the galaxies
For some reason, seeing that sloshiness makes me nauseous...
Damn microplastics
I doubt that eye can see
Og glass snowball right there
Can you get this on purpose? Like, can I get this on purpose?
I had not considered such an angle, that's creative.
Is this what causes my floaters?
tbh it looks disgusting to me. No stars or anything like that, just white liquid in an eye.
They’re beautiful but how functional?
Anime main character eyes
I imagine this is what Moody’s Mad Eye looks like.
That is both cool, and fucking terrifying.
I love Asteroid Hyalosis as a finding. Usually it’s not like this but it’s pretty cool. Doesn’t impact sight at all.
Looks like a snow globe in there
Ew. Less stars and more restaurant dish sink water.
Does it affect their sight, though?

No. It doesn't hinder sight unless it does. If it does, they get surgery and then theyre fine
Does cataracts look something like that discoloration stuff? I've seen an 80 year begin that process but not sure if he's going actual blind more than legally blind. because of that stuff.
Looks beautiful from the outside. Bet it’s miserable in the inside. Sorry to whoever this is.
That's living in your own snow globe!
I see stars.
I see the universe in this person's eye.
Its Like the men in black scene
Well, at least the Vitreous has a sense of humor about it
Why do I hear men in black music?
I see stars in your eyes babe..

Question is how can I achieve that!? How high do I have to boost my cholesterol!??
The universe is in the eyes

GoJo is back boiiiiis
I'm surprised the eyeball goo is so fluid, I thought it was more jelly-like.
Meanwhile, the only special thing I have about my eyes are these black and gray splotches randomly scattered around the whites. The jealousy is real.
Viva la #$@% this song
I didn’t know something could be so beautiful and so disturbing at the same time
Unbelievable. I never seen it in video, I've seen images but I didn't realize that they are literally floating around!
Very, very rarely impacts their vision. It’s hard to view the retina/optic nerve though, so it’s annoying for diabetics of those with glaucoma who need frequent monitoring.
The Black Oil is here. Colonization imminent. Trust no one.
"Ryoki tenkai: muryokusho" ahh eyes
An on-demand Magic 8 Ball - cool!
Outlook not so good

Wonder how many people were killed for "witchery" back then for having these eyes
Looks like a washing machine
So anime eyes are real then!
I’ve seen this episode of The X-Files
Wow, that’s really beautiful
It also massively increases your cursed energy abilities
Not related to assteroid halitosis. I already checked.
Asteroid hyalosis is a better name than snow globe eyes
Das cool
Wait so 90% of anime characters have an eye condition..
I saw asteroids, planets, stars, all in a person EYE?!

Mine kind of look worm like or connected floaters
Literally galactic eyes
Looks like an algae snow globe.
I mean what’s odd is I have r/visualsnow and there’s a bit of this effect in my vision when I move my eye and stop. There’s a perceived flow across what I see.
