Reporter keeping this shot in frame while running for his life... on 9/11
VideoI’d give the credit to the cameraman…
Amen they had the balls to take the shot or run and STILL get the shot. Very impressive
Esp that one guy taking a shot under the red truck. Mad lad
Holy shit … never notice that.
Where is that footage? What if he had the cap on.
Marty Glembotzky
Praise the camera man
they should give courses to those teenagers trying to record something important with their stupid phones!
"you're in my shot"
"ooh, please i am blushing!"
100% a pro. The balls on him. I would have ditched it
I'd say both for having the balls to be anywhere close to the towers after the second plane hit.
Came here for this
I saw most of that day live on tv. Watched many documentaries, read many articles, saw pictures, talked to people who were at ground zero, went to the 9/11 memorial a few times, etc. Despite all of this, I still find it surreal. Edit: grammar
It definitely is surreal, even after all these years. I still get worked up over it and the piercing screams I heard from those around me knowing they just had loved ones die haunt me.
It's still shocking, and a blessing, how so few people died (relatively speaking). A few variables different and we'd be talking about 20,000 dead instead of 3,000.
Nevertheless the footage and atmosphere generated is akin to what I think the start of nuclear war would be like.
So far.
Even things like the long term effects of inhaling dust that day from the collapse is considered and anticipated to produce casualties as the years go on still too and has already also killed people from that day.
Nothing about that day was a blessing.
- The profoundly successful evacuations of both towers.
- The successful simultaneous landing of every civilian aircraft in America for the first time in history, without incident.
- The revolt of the passengers of United 93 and foiling of that terrorist cell's ambitions.
Not a blessing in the traditional sense as those aren't luck, but a product of determination, skill, and sacrifice.
Yes there were acts of heroism that day certainly. I just take issue with the word blessing used in that context.
All the firefighters were.
They were heroes, no doubt. I just think using the word blessing in any context around 9/11 is poor taste. The scale of atrocities that day.. most don’t even fully comprehend.
I was watching one of those random YouTube compilations about extinction level movies and the fake scenes weren’t as scary as this, the real scene. But the similarities were very eerie. Downtown New York, people running for their lives, a huge column of smoke and explosion and debris headed their way.. terrifying
I’m with you! I tell my kids that it was like watching a movie because the events unfolding before our eyes were only conceivable in movies and video games. Like, we would see that the n a movie and state out loud “like that would ever happen!” But it was real…so surreal
The other day I went to the memorial and then the One World Observatory. While the One World Trade Center is taller than the Twin Towers, seeing the ground from so high up made me realize just how terrifying buildings of that size collapsing would look like. It was also a reminder of how scary it must have felt for those trapped inside
Wait until you research the intelligence failures and realize it could have been prevented 100 different times, but the hijackers seem to be the "luckiest" ppl in the world leading up to 9/11

Oh wow.
looks at account
OOOOOH WOWWWW
I have a cousin who was one of the people running from the debris cloud. He ran into a coffee shop and the owner gave everyone a coffee filter to put over their mouth and nose before the cloud blew the windows out.
Very smart thinking and very lucky too. Hope the filters helped.
Mesothelioma is a common 9/11 condition from the towers falling, we will probably start to see more since the latent period is usually about 20-30 years. Fucking asbestos. Lost my father in law to mesothelioma and it is an ugly disease.
Very happy for the coffee filters - anything is better than nothing. Smart of the shopkeeper!
My grandfather was a coal miner as well as picking all the delightful trades with asbestos and all the rest. He, very fortunately, has been told by the doctor that he does not have anything that will actively kill him faster than the rest of his natural lifespan. But I am all too aware of the risks of breathing in small particles. Very sorry to hear about your father in law, it is something of a sick joke in my mind.
Agree with you too, anything is better than nothing. I have no idea what filtering ability a coffee filter has for the particulates needed, but definitely agree, something has to be better than nothing.
Was going to say the same, alot of people would've been heavily exposed
The filters were definitely better than nothing, as breathing in any dust is bad for you. Unfortunately, they did next to nothing as far as the asbestos is concerned. Asbestos fibers are microscopic--they'll pass right through coffee filters and regular old dust masks like they're not even there
Did your cousin get cancer?
I remember watching the news after the first plane had hit the world trade center and thinking about the odds of this happening and then it became apparent what was happening.
Watching those brave firefighters and service personnel going towards the buildings was the definition of bravery.
Gone but not forgotten.
Yep, I was too young to know or to remember what was happening besides a vague memory of the news report on repeat.
But according to my parents and everyone I talked to, the first plane was seen as an accident. People were even made jokes about how stupid the pilot was. Then the second plane hit and everyone went mad knowing it was an attack and there was no telling if there were other planes or what else was coming
I'll never forget, my first grade teacher hung up the phone in class and she was trying to hide her tears. She put on a movie for us while she basically broke down. My house was in the approach path of PHL, and I didn't hear a single plane that day. The only thing I could get was from my mom: "a couple of people flew a plane into a building." She snapped that at me and I didn't realize she was scared at that time.
West coast of Canada, second plane hit at 6 am our time, so when most people woke up, we were already firmly in “America is under attack” situation. I was 14 years old. It was surreal.
Was in Australia and it came on at like 10pm, my parents made me stay up and watch it. Even in another country and being a kid, I knew the severity based upon my parents faces.
This is exactly it. It was a statistically almost impossible fuck-up until the second tower was hit. Then everyone, everywhere, knew instantly that it was intentional. We all have a forever memory of exactly where we were when we found out.
I was thinkibg that, too. A lot of lives were lost in that instant including some of those firefighters he was talking about.
Can you imagine if this happened today and everyone has cameras in their pockets. We’d have some crazy videos from the people in the towers. Probably better we don’t have that. Would be so heartbreaking
Yup it would be absolutely insane. Endless amount of footage. I think it’s better that we don’t have that, as well.
Oh wow I’ve never thought of that. Videos from the towers 😳💔 Just the 911 calls and answering machine messages are fucking heartbreaking.
Yeah we have that kind of footage from more recent tragedies. The Hamas massacre comes to mind. School shootings. Some people live streamed their own deaths, etc.
Very true. It also makes me sick to think of the even more disturbing videos we’d have of the people who jumped/fell on that day if smartphones were a thing. I go cold just imagining that.
For anyone that’s never had to, it’s a very unique feeling to be running full speed through the streets in fear along with everyone else.
There once was a loud bomb sound downtown Chicago, someone started running and then me and dozens of others BOOKED IT immediately. I will never forget that awful fear and rush, like “fuck omg please don’t tell me this is some attack or bomber”. I ran in a nearby lobby with another couple ppl, we were like, wtf was that? We stayed for a bit till we heard anything else.
I can’t even FATHOM what 9/11 was like. These videos give me chills. It wasn’t till I was older that I realized how truly traumatizing and the gravity of the situation
I was at JFK a few years ago, to take a trip to London. While waiting at the gate, a gun sound went off. Within seconds, people were screaming and sprinting every which way. Alarms went off. My wife ducked under a bench, while I kept trying to see what was going on and do something (for which I got a goof scolding, lol).
Security guards appeared with shotguns, ushering is down some stairs onto the tarmac. We then were rushed through out to the front of the airport, with many thousands of others.
Outside, people were still panicking. Someone would shout about another shot or gun, and everyone would scream and run. People were ducking and hiding. I lost my wife in the stampede, and started yelling for her. We both, instinctively, had walked toward the same big column and found each other. There were no clear emergency vehicles coming, just chaos.
Eventually, things calmed down (hours later). The entire airport was shut down (JF freakin’ K), and all the flights were cancelled.
The gunshot? Turns out someone was drunk and watching a soccer game. Their team lost, and they slammed on the table so loud, someone else thought it was a gunshot.
A boozed up butterfly flaps its wings…
i wonder if the soccer fan got up and started running too
Totally. I was at a WTO protest that got out of hand and tear gas grenades, rubber bullets and batons were let fly all over the place. Anarchists showed up and started in with real violence and it was time to run, not jog, for safety.
It felt like suddenly this other programming in my brain that I had never before accessed was engaged - was the boss. The part that we’ve had since before Neanderthals, before Denisovians, before Cro- Magnon. A very unique feeling.
Fight or flight mode, you would be amazed by what your body can achieve if you are in a life threatening situation.
Your comment reminds me of the concept of Bicameral Minds which was first introduced to me from the show Westworld.
Bicameral mentality is a hypothesis introduced by Julian Jaynes who argued human ancestors as late as the ancient Greeks did not consider emotions and desires as stemming from their own minds but as the consequences of actions of gods external to themselves. The theory posits that the human mind once operated in a state in which cognitive functions were divided between one part of the brain which appears to be "speaking", and a second part which listens and obeys—a bicameral mind, and that the breakdown of this division gave rise to consciousness in humans. The term was coined by Jaynes who presented the idea in his 1976 book The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind
It sure was. I was 19 at the time, and I was running like Forrest Gump in Vietnam.
Boston bombing. Just kinda blacked out.
Seeing some people not running at full speed blows me away. Some are kind of just jogging. I’d be fucking booking it.
The majority of people just aren’t fit enough to run at full speed for 10 blocks.
Cameraman.
Reporter ran, cameraman did the hard work.
Yeahh... the cameraman was amazing. Praise the camera man
This still feels surreal.
It is
It's like a monster or apocalypse movie but.......... Fucking real..
True man.. What a tragic event
I see that huge debris field move through the buildings downtown and it is still 100 times scarier than any horror movie I've seen.
Everything aside, anyone else notice the old lady at 34sec (8sec left) left for dead
Save yourself before you attempt to save others. The first thing you do in a first aid situation is make sure any potential dangers are isolated, gone or mitigated. No point having 2 casualties.
It’s always weird for me to think about how these people woke up that morning at what like 5, 6am? Had their regular morning routine, made some coffee, stopped to grab something for breakfast, only to be witnessing the start of the “war on terror”, or trapped in their burning office knowing they’ll probably never go home again.
Then I think about all the small stuff the survivors probably do; get a new job because everyone at your old one is dead and you don’t want to deal with the new people, file a car insurance claim because your car is ruined by dust/debris, hopefully you didn’t have any personal documents in your office, otherwise those are lost, you should probably go to the doctor for a check up, I’m sure you need therapy, probably a new suit too. Since your car is totaled how do you get home? Ride the subway or bus home after literally surviving fucking 9/11?
Watching the footage feels like looking into another world, but I think even in 2023 we aren’t so different from those in NYC in 2001.
We aren't different at all.
I mean...I was alive then.
In California, my wife had a job interview scheduled that day and even after the second crash, they told her they expected her to show up! She declined.

Does he have health problems ? That dust cloud was incredibly poisonous.
My uncle was their that day, he rarely talks about it, he got out 40 minutes before the towers came down. He was lucky to have gotten out of the area with not real longterm physical health issues. He was dating my moms sister who had to wait nearly 12 hours to find out he was alive, from what my mom told me, they were frantic in trying to call him but it kept going to voicemail. My mom told me the relief they all had when they finally got that call from him. My uncle sadly lost a childhood friend that day, him and his family had to wait a year before they confirmed what had happened. Every year since the Memorial went up my uncle always visits and brings his family along with his friends family along to remember him.
I’ve never seen footage from the base at the time of collapse. This really fucked me up. Like tears.
Praise the cameraman, and NJ Burkett (the reporter) still works for eyewitness news channel 7, New York City
As a New Yorker, it still breaks my heart to watch these videos.
I was on a subway train passing underground / under the towers heading uptown during this and we kept skipping stops not realizing what was happening above ground until they let us out at Grand Central Station. Smh. Lost several people that day. Day is fresh in my mind.
This camera guys full, unedited tape is amazing to watch. I can’t seem to find it to link it. But it’s amazing.
Here, I found it: https://youtu.be/oCPVNLLo-mI?si=UnPWe3wqTQHTbEdr
Cancer cloud
Absolutely horrific, something I will never forget!
Often wonder are there 9/11 footage still to be made public
The pentagon might very well be the most surveilled place in the world and we have 2 shitty videos. There must be something better
I’m pretty sure there is .
Cameraman : Marty Glembotzky
I remember sitting in school and watching the coverage all day. Watching people jump out of the building holding hands because they didn't want to burn to death. Papers falling from the sky like snow. A really heavy day man..
N.J Burkett is the reporter. He’s been on Eyewitness News for like 30 years. Classy dude.
Never forget
It’s crazy because it looks just like a movie
I was a kid when I saw this happen I was 9 and even then it struck me as how much everything will change. Within a few years my step dad and my bio dad both being in the military were deployed to iraq and Afghanistan. It changed my life in way I didnt even realize until I was much older.
I still just go cold seeing this many years later.
Watched this live. Still in shock. I cannot comprehend what people who lived in NYC felt.
I remember that day very well. I had to walk through guts and bones to look for my brother.. he was living in northern Canada at that time....
Poor Norm. All that suffering for nothing
22 years later this video is still gut wrenching and heart breaking to see. This moment truly shifted history to which I think we are now fully feeling the ramifications of. How we were sweet summer children once
No. No you weren't.
America has been doing what happened to you once, to others all over the globe for a VERY long time.
This is just the first time you're on the receiving end.
Hell... America is doing it again to Palestinian children.
3000 people died on 9/11, right? America is responsible for over twice that in dead CHILDREN in the past couple months.
America is not the victim. American citizens are though.
Ah yes, I forgot about the American intervention in Palestine of 2023
I don’t think your comment really has anything to do with what he said. He didn’t say America was the victim or they were innocent. And they are and we are still feeling the ramifications from it. Justified or not and Israel and Palestine is an extension of that.
I agree with you for the most part but I’m just pointing out he didn’t imply otherwise
Something I will never forget!!
What is happening to this sub? Recently it is full of truly interesting stuff 🤨
What’s the status of some of the folks who chose to stick around and were peppered with concrete dust and debris? I wonder how many deaths and illnesses resulted from folks who were just in the vicinity.
Damn to think I watched all of this from a few blocks away.
I haven't seen this footage since I was sitting on the sofa watching in horror with my dad. Shit. I forgot how fucked up it is.
We had a 20 year war over this.
And Saudi Arabia is still our friend.
Literally where all the terrorists were from, save one.
Not really. I don't have anything bad to say about the camera person, they absolutely should turn and run for their life, but for a post talking about how they kept it in frame. . . they didn't really.
100% unless "in frame" means lots of shots of the floor.
That was such a sad day for America
“A huge explosion, raining down debris on all of us!”
Sometimes you think in horror movies that the woman screaming is overdoing it but the woman screaming at the end of the video there was definitely experiencing horror.
Holy sh*t
after that attack by bin laden, good thing we invaded iraq. 🙄
I'm still fucking pissed.🤬🤬🤬
At who?
Seriously? Those responsible .
Aren’t they dead
That's what I'm asking, who was responsible.
Honestly, are you trying to pick an argument, or are you young enough to either not remember or not know? I'm asking sincerely and not being sarcastic.
Sorry, I'm being genuine and not sarcastic at all, I mean, there were wars in Iraq and Afghanistan because of this, millions died, etc... but they were not involved.
So I'm asking who you are angry at? And why?
There is also the other narrative it was an "inside job" I'm curious what people think after all this time and countless wars and deaths. Just a genuine question
It was done by the Muslim extremist group al-Qaeda ( the cell). In 1993 the same group headed by several al-Qaeda members, namely Ramzi Yousef and others detonated a van full of explosives under the WTC. While the attack killed several people, it obviously didn't destroy the towers. Yousef's uncle is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. He was the mastermind/architect of 9-11.
The attack was done as part of a "holy-war" against the US due multiple reason, but typically because of US support of anti extremist govts around the world.
As far as an inside job, I call bullshit. While I do believe several agencies had ideas of possible attacks, they weren't able to pinpoint them. "For oil" is another stupid idea/theory. The US has more oil than Saudi Arabia.
The bunk about "jet fuel can't melt metal" is crap too. Metal melts (duh, right?) all of the time and the simple chimney effect raised temperatures high enough to cause structural weaknesses. Buildings weren't designed for multiple attacks against their structural integrity.
Am I an expert--not even close, but subjective scientific evidence and what I witnessed during those minutes/hours/days etc I believe.
How do you know? The 9/11 Commission Report was completely full of holes and cover-ups as we found out later. Above you are reciting the official version of what happened but how do you know that's true?
Buildings don't collapse like that unless demolished.
Compression explosive forces. Plenty of that.
Is that the new meta? They flew airplanes into the towers and had a ton of C4?
what about tower 7?
I was watching it all day that day. We were watching Katie Couric reporting and twice that day she mentioned that authorities say they might have to “pull” building 7 due to the heavy damage it sustained when the towers collapsed. So I don’t know if it was pulled or eventually also collapsed because of the damage. They say it collapsed.
so when did they add explosives to the building to "pull it"? Before the attack happened? Or they added the charges as the building was on fire?
So we were told the building was going to be pulled, then we see video of a what looks like a controlled demo, but they said it collapsed.
does anyone else see the blatant obviousness that is this situation.
What about it? I honestly don't know as I've never read up on it. It was within close proximity of the twin towers, so I see no reason for it to have not been destroyed as well.
go look into it, and get back to your previous statement.
watch a video of tower 7 collapsing and ask yourself if a piece of rubble burning in the basement caused that.
The American government?
The downvotes are unwarranted. It's a legit question.
Weirdly, even that time of our lives feels calmer are more normal that the shit show the world is going through today
Think again, most of the crazy stuff you hear every day has always been there. Except now, we are in an age where information about all events is easily available and spread instantly.
I used to think the same way but Internet fame and greed motivates people to abuse their kids, harass people on the streets and burn down hundreds of hectares of forest because my gender reveal just isn't the same without explosives, reckless endangerment and a couple homicides.
Yes, a lot of stuff was always there and is now getting a spotlight but it still spawned a shit load of stupidity
all this because of religious lunatics
Man, the USA is doing war the middle east since way before 9-11. It's not religion, it's retaliation in the context of war.
Believing that this is because of religion is just drinking propaganda without thinking a little tiny bit about it.
It's not retaliation. The middle east has always been at war among themselves for a very long time.
Bin Laden said it was retaliation. Like factually it’s what he said.
So close... Just religion.
One of the worse things invented by man.
Sheep. Bin Laden literally told you why he did it and you’re like “religion’s fault!”
Yeah but you can't explain a complicated reason to an American, hence. Religion. /S. (kind of /S)
Free cancer by asbestos smoke.
These are all one continuous shot from the same guy?
Also, we are looking at the west face of the north tower, where the climber would be.
Is there a higher definition raw version of this shot?
Is there anyone who believes that it didn’t happen yet? I’m yet to hear from those people.
Well he's the cameraman, they can't die.
Raining debree on all of us ok brother here i come
Forget the reporter. Props to the cameraman.
*camera man
Except he really didn't, except for a few seconds.
Oh god, Don't give anyone this kind of experience again😔😔
Wow!
This is WILD why haven't I seen this before?
Pompeii vibes
Running for your life is timeless.
And the guys who did this gave Jared Kushner $2 billion dollars and are killing the PGA.
Shame Americans are such Petro-Whores
You need a hug, I hope your day gets better and that you stop thinking about politics for a day.
Merry Christmas.
Also, golf sucks.
Wasn’t alive for this but it genuinely keeps seeming like the most dramatic moment of any recent (American) history and people keep saying so much changed after but I don’t know any difference 🤷♀️
Iraq did this?
Probably was one of those WMD’s they were hiding
Terrorists. Specific evil people. Not "Iraq"
I don't care if people don't agree this was an act of domestic terrorism and the new world order was created when we killed our own citizens to erase international war debts.
Will we ever know the truth ?
Much more horrible things than this were done all over the world by the US government. "Never forget" is US victimization to justify their horrifying regime.
Idk how to tell you this but the people in the towers that died were just as innocent as the people all over the world that the us government killed.
Separate tragedies can exist without pulling a “well the us did worse things!!!”
I miss talented camera operators. What happened to them :(
Everyone thinking that this was a massive conspiracy done by the US government is WRONG, but also everyone thinking that the official narrative is correct is also WRONG. The 9/11 Commission Report was a farce, but we do not know exactly what happened because so many questions were not answered.
Dang, spill the beans then.
It just dawned on me...
No one at that point knew that the smoke was just smoke (with lethal carcinogens in it)...
In their minds that smoke was most likely filled with fire and intense heat. They are basically running from a bomb blast in their minds.
They are running the same way they would run if the entire world was ending.
Being in shape mattered like a motherfucker then, cause you were running until you collapsed. Wow.
Self attack. Controled demolition.
A huge explosion??? Wasn't it a huge crash???
They didn't know what they were seeing from down below. They didn't have smart phones, and the smoke was covering up everything. The sound of the crashing and the roar of the building coming down, probably would remind you of an explosion if you were down there with your adrenaline pumping.
The firemen on scene reported huge explosions in the lobby. Its on video, they aired it on tv.
9/11 is so taboo that its crazy its just now that I have seen footage of these. Its like seeing the video footage of the Tiananmen Square Massacre.
? There's plenty of footage of 9/11 on YouTube
All those explosions, I wonder if those were the thermite charges going off?
I still can't believe that there were less than 100 cameras in New York that day and that all video was processed by news agencies before being publicized. Just insane.

Nothing "lucky" about it.
Right? It almost looked like a controlled demolition it was so perfect
No evidence of that.
Yeah but you can't say that.... 1 million bots will vote you down.... well like a dozen that I can see so far.... they censor that opinion just enough... then they add in a few REALLY crazy people who believe it.

Did he said explosion...?
Is this the 2001 NYC Marathon? So many participants this year
Gotta love inside jobs.
I like the new video of tower 7 right before it goes down. You can literally see the controlled demolition.
Mr conspiracy fanatic weighs in . Way to go , nut .
Genuine question... Has screaming ever helped anyone ever????
Yes. Pretty sure there have been millions of incidences that were prevented by someone yelling. Not to mention you would yell in that situation as well because it is human nature. Way to think that one through!
Sad to think this was all planned to cover up a lost 3 trillion dollars in tax payers money
If it was "covered up"...how do you know about it?
