that looks awesome with the mountain.
Where in Europe would one say the climate of Santiago is similar?
For whatever reason (I know it's not in Europe), but this photo is giving me very Portland, Oregon vibes-- but I have a sneaking feeling that it's not similar in climate.
Also not in Europe, but I feel like LA is the obvious comparison. Mild and dry climate, Santiago is a little colder and higher altitude
I actually think San Jose, California is more similar.
Something reasonably close would be Salamanca, Spain. Although, honestly, I'm not sure there's anywhere in Europe with a truly similar climate. Here's a cool site that let's you compare cities: https://weatherspark.com/compare/y/26525~147714/Comparison-of-the-Average-Weather-in-Santiago-and-Salamanca-Airport
Probably most similar to somewhere in Spain
Madrid
Santiago is in a valley surrounded by mountains, so the climate is dry most of the year and warmer summers - colder winters than coastal cities like Valparaiso.
Santiago would be similar to Southern Spain or Portugal.
Coimbra, Portugal maybe? But with mountains all around.

What's public transportation like? I heard they will expend the metro.
Yes, currently there are 7 Metro lines (L1-L6 + L4A), while an eighth is under construction (L7). Plus, L8 and L9 are in the basic engineering phase.
With the same card, you can access to ~400 bus lines with over 1,500 electric buses.
What a dynamic shot!
