I had multiple UTI’s as a kid, and I never went to a doctor

I had the same and was told it was due to Mr Bubbles by my mom. It was from chronic and repeated sexual abuse.

I don't get them anymore, and yes, I've used Mr. Bubbles.

Same. Utis a lot because my parents never taught me how to wipe properly. A teacher at school (nursery) had to teach me.

There was a few times i needed a doctor, dentist and hospital too. But nothing happened. We never went because my parents couldn't be bothered.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm fairly certain she knew about the cause of your UTIs and ignored your suffering for reasons unknown. I'm so sorry you endured this. We're all here to support you.

My (never abused) daughter has a UTI about once a year. I get her to the doctor in less than a few hours because of how painful that is. Grapefruit seed extract is a pretty good remedy, but repeat instances definitely require an inquiry into causes and antibiotics or antifungals, whatever the cause.

Same here. I once had one for a year and it was so miserable. Medical neglect is some real shit. At 21 I began to suffer with interstitial cystitis, which was even more miserable because it doesn't respond to medications. Luckily it's not too bad these days, I just get flares a few times a year, but I can't work through the pain so I have to rest at home when it happens.

I'm so sorry you've been through this. I can't believe the health related shit that parents do (or neglect to do) that is seen as normal. Kids deserve much better.

As I guy, reading this is unbearable. I came here to say that my ex gf had frequent UTIs because she was a premie. She never suffered sexual abuse. Everyone has their own unique set of trauma. (Many would be horrified by mine.) I'm so sorry for anyone who underwent this type of abuse as a child. I wish I could undo all this pain.

Multiple UTIs due to poor knowledge of hygiene. She'd give me pickle juice and tell me to quit crying. Cavities so bad I would pass out crying in class. Never saw doctors unless my dad found out and told her to takes us to the doctor. If I got sick, she would jokingly say, "are you pregnant?" -I was in elementary school- (as far as I know, I never experienced SA)

i had chronic UTI’s growing up, a couple every month that would last 3-12 days usually, it was from chronic CSA, my doctors advised my mum to get me a liver and kidney screening since it could definitely have caused major infections in those organs but that never happened. My mum also knew about the abuse, nothing came from it though. i really hope you’re okay now or at least doing better, sending love ♡︎

I had countless, & still have bladder issues to this day

Ok, going to lead off here with major trigger warning before starting. I was in grade 2. I peed drips of blood one day after school and called me mother, scared - this was the early 70s. She did book an appointment with a doctor for me, which surprised me. Usually no dentist and no regular check ups. The nurse had me give a urine sample. I remember it was clear. The doctor came in, did not say much other than that he had talked to my mother (who had waited outside) and that she would talk to me on the way home. I was worried because I did not know what she was going to say and I still don’t because she never said anything. But I know there were no antibiotics prescribed. Rest of the story is that during this time, I was supposedly having these terrible nightmares where my mother would hear me moaning and thrashing around in bed and she would run from her room and get there just as I would start screaming and she would wake me up from the bad dream and I would go back to sleep. This went on for multiple years. She would tell this story to everyone and anyone - saying she wondered what would have happened if she did not hear me or did not get there in time? I told my therapist about this when I started therapy. She asked me if I remembered any of the dreams. I said no. I said I only remembered her waking me up a few times. I said I can see her in her green house coat. Therapist said how did she have time to put on a house coat? Then the therapist said do you have nightmares when you moan now? And I said no, I wake up with a start, usually because there is someone or something in the room. She said those are not nightmares, they are night terrors. Therapist said who do you think was in your room and what do you think they were doing to you? And the part about this that bothers me the most is that there were extended periods of time where she forbid me from buying or reading comic books because that was what was causing my nightmares. So made this worse by making it into an excuse to take something I enjoyed away from me. Anyway, I was surprised to see your post and feel very validated by it. Thank you for being brave enough to post this.

I used to have multiple yeast infections in grade school. Many years on, I worked in an Urgent Treatment Center. A young child came in with a yeast infection. Our doc was upset and said that only a child that’s been SA’d would have a yeast infection as it was a STD. Is this true.
