It's possible to make fabrics with sun protection equivalent to spf 30. I don't know if they make swimsuits with it because having a weave tight enough to provide sun protection may trap water too easily.
I've bought rashguards that were marketed as being equivalent to having spf 30, so I hope I got what I was paying for.

It's really common for kids under 5 to wear shirts like those now. It's easier than applying large amounts of sunscreen and you don't have to worry about missing any spots.

I wear a UPF swim shirt and UPF swim leggings. I sunburn easily, so this way I only have to apply and reapply sunscreen to face, ears, neck, hands, and feet.

Most of my UPF swimwear is from Solbari. They also have hats and non-swim clothing. It's pricey, but definitely worth it to not have to deal with reapplying body sunscreen.

They are being piloted as a component of the uniform at some (a small number) Japanese schools, as opposed to the style seen above for girls and just swimming trunks for boys.
