Do you really think this could work in a real disaster
ScienceWe call it "Vomit Ball".
That’s why each seat comes with a revolver and one round, standard issue
Titan II
Wouldn’t you probably end up in the ocean? When do you come out? Whoops 😬
Or buried under debris/land.
With GPS, the coast guard or other nations equivalent and other rescue organizations can track you down and get you out of the ocean and hopefully debris too.
Is this a priority when thousands/millions have been affected and are buried or stranded?
I’ll take my chances rather than dying in a claustrophobic pod buried deep within debris
Not a priority, just easier.
Say you dropped a bag of marbles. They're everywhere. But some of those marbles make a sound. You would look for those first because they are easier to find.
Plus, pods have more innate protection. Better for the pod to be buried in debris rather than if just being you.
Except.if you are buried under tons of debris.
We Saw that during the 9/11. People got located via the sound they were making. Everyone was aware that they were trapped and tried their best to get them out. They just couldn't reach them in Time because of all the debris.
So sure maybe people would know where you are, but if they have no way of.lifting all the debris burying you, you're as good as dead. And let's face it, if the whole area is still flooded, it's even worse as they Can't bring equipement for heavy lifting things.
In that case you're fucked, doesn't matter if you're in a pod or not. But a pod makes you less fucked. Significantly less so.
Yeah they didnt last as long cause they werent in pods its like these people want people to still die in these
That's the problem with arguing with people who are unintentionally being bad actors. They always come up with a hypothetical situation where their point will be proven true so they can get a Aha!™ Moment.
They think they are just being fair, but don't realize they aren't allowing themselves to be wrong in their original assumptions. This is why statistics is a thing, but then again, most people don't understand statistics either.
This beautifully summarises so many arguments on the Internet.
72% of people dont understand statistics 📊📉
You could also rescue people in these pods much faster because you can be rougher. Nobody in these situations has tons of debris on them, they'd be dead if they did. They survived by happening to be in a tiny pocket with tons of debris around them. If rescue workers fuck up that pocket could collapse so they have to work slower, and in some situations abandon people because it'll take too long or it might not be possible to rescue them.
The pods would make removing the ruble a lot easier not having to worry about swishing bodies
Edit: I was going to fix “swishing” to smushing but I’m going to keep it
Assuming the pod has enough supplies, you are still way more likely to stay alive until they get you out compared to being buried with nothing but the clothes on your back no?
Plus, the shell probably makes it easier for the rescue team to dig you out since they don't need to worry about shifting debris crushing you as much.
Okay can't you just meet halfway by bringing a cyanide pill? Being in an indestructible orb during a tsunami seems like it would up your chances of surviving
It's really not comparable though. The firemen weren't protected by a steel ball and buried under the largest buildings to collapse so there was zero precedence. I'm pretty certain that situation taught us a lot and that we know better today. This equipment at least protect the people inside and probably contains rations to survive for a period of time.
Humans are squishy, pod is not. Pod can survive the weight of debris, human cannot. Moving weight on top of human can cause it to shift and crush the human, moving weight on top of pod can't crush the pod anymore than it already is. It's really not that complicated.
No one is making you go in the pod, you are free to wait for help at the bottom of the ocean if you prefer. I personally would take my chances in a pod if given the choice.
Thats why you have survival equipment in there so you can survive until ur rescued. If ur burried under a ton of material, and it takes a week to free u, its better if you have water, oxygen, safety measures against being hurt or seriously wounded, even food, protection against wetness and coldness, and even against fire just in case. Lets make it worse, it takes a month to find you. You could probably fit a month worth of supplies there (if you manage them properly). But you can definetly not survive being burried for a month.
My main concern would be oxygen. They said it has an O2 supply which implies it’s airtight and relies on whatever o2 was in there when it was shut. A month worth of oxygen it a lot of gas.
I mean people in the capsule are affected too. And they're most likely easier to rescue and rescue more people as a result since there can be multiple people inside. I get the claustrophobic part but would you rather be surrounded by people or an entire building?
buried deep within debris
So you say people are buried, so you're saying you'd take a chance at being one of them instead of buried in the pod? How is buried in a steel pod less chance of surviving than buried by an entire building on top of you?? The pod also floats so they're less likely to get buried too.
If that doesn't help, think about it like this, for this situation let's say you're buried alone without the pod VS buried alone IN the pod. So you'd rather be buried and most likely pinned by literal TONS of debris, with chances of it collapsing again meaning if it didn't fall directly onto you, it would very much probably happen soon. And with the entire area decimated, who knows where you might be, unless you tap on nearby debris with a rock or something but that requires a lot of things to not go wrong, your arm without severe damage, your hand without damage, able to twist anr bend, finding something to tap, not be unconscious/not have brain damage enough to lose the ability to control your arm, etc and IF you do make it out, another high probability of walking (figuratively) out with a condition or without a limb VS high chance of the GPS know your location, very high chance of no injury, can still bang on the steel (I assume, not sure), have drinkable water, and if you aren't alone, you got some company, breathable air, and rescuers can assume there's multiple people in the pod so they're going to try to help the presumably large group of people in a giant bright orange ball that's easier to locate.
Or, worst case scenario for each, you'd most likely die comfortably in the pod.
I agree with you accept the dying comfortably in a pod part, nothing is comfortable about dying in a pod crammed with people.
Even less comfortable surrounded by darkness and concrete and god knows what else.
For a Spartan you surely lack the laconism
Their laconism is defeating an enemy, this "enemy" is going to win regardless, it's just how much you let it win.
I meant your very specific hypotheticals
I know, that's what I'm saying, the "enemy" is a whole tsunami in my hypotheticals
Oh true nvm I'm high 😂😂
This is the longest run-on sentence ever with a thousand unlikely made-up hypotheticals based on nothing. 🙂
Make this thing cost $1,000,000 and it will be a priority because there are rich people inside
It’s a priority if you’re rich.
Unless it sinks. GPS can’t penetrate water. Then you’re trapped.
If pinned by a building or gets damaged enough, sure, but it won't sink by itself, it shows it floats
It floats?!?! ‘tis a witch!!!
if it sinks I dont think the people would survive. Then they can take their time finding it.
Is it controlled by a console controller, and can I reach Titanic wreck depths in it?
They never said titanium. And console controller isn't a bad thing, the military uses it too. So I'd say YES
Not that anyone cares, but that's not how gps works. GPS has a passive receiver that listens to satellites, and uses the satellite signal to figure out its location.
Retransmitting that location to someone listening for it is great, but it's not GPS. :-) Just being pedantic.
Then what is that location being retransmitted called?
Latitude and Longitude. The device itself is more properly called a PLB, a Personal Locator Beacon. Pilots carry them, so if they crash, people can come rescue them.
It doesn't matter, I shouldn't have said anything
Why not just tether them to the ground so they don't go anywhere?
hope it works better then my Air Tags tracking beacon.
GPS doesn't work very well when buried.
Still more comfortable than buried without the thing that has that GPS in it
Debatable. Suffocating and watching your loved ones die? Quick death may be better.
That is a very good point, but at least you get a chance to say bye and die comfortably (physically). Either way you're emotionally fucked, and who said without the pod it would be Quick??
In a week or two
That would be my fear
Easy, just play Subnautica until you mastered how to survive in the ocean
Co2 death after 30min.
You may be interested in our new sun shield 3000. Simple wrap the our patented black polyethylene bag around your head and go outside, no sun or light will enter. You are now safe from the sun.
Also guarantees that you won't die of Covid.
Yeah - oxygen supply is one thing, but a CO2 absorption system is also necessary. That was one of the problems Apollo 13 faced and why the astronauts needed to build that ad hoc CO2 reduction system. The lithium hydroxide CO2 absorption canisters were cube-shaped for the Command Module and cylindrical for the Lunar Module so they were not interchangeable.
From the images shown vs. the last illustration, I suspect they make different sizes. The small one looks to be for a single person.
It's still better than the alternative of ending lifeless in the bottom of the sea, but who knows, maybe pack a snorkel and a couple of fins to be on the safe side lol
It says there's a GPS beacon in it, pretty sure the idea is to keep people safe during the initial event then send out search and rescue to recover the pod.
I'm sure search and rescue would have no trouble rounding up hundreds let alone more of these things right after a tsunami which is typically a pretty slow time for them.
Imagine going round and round and round with that one.
You know what would be better, a tsunami sea wall that dissipates tsunami energy so it's not as powerful!!
What if you fall into a volcano?
i was 100% sure this is how i'd die when i was 4-8 years old, i literally used to say shit like "yeah, when i fall into a volcano," (insert a bunch or random crap) lmao
You could also conquer other planets by sending sayans around with it
"are we there yet?"

I think i need an adult
I am an adult!
No, no you are not.
No, but I'm the age of one.
I was continuuing the joke but where Goku says he is an adult to Gohan and Gohan says no you are not, it was not a personal dig mate, my apologies!
Oh shit. Lack of sleep will do that. No need to apologize, I just forgot a bit from a series I binged not even that long ago 😅
Wasnt that joke from dbz abridged?
Yes
Nooooooooooooooo!
Look! More bald people
Man I came here to make this joke lol
Here are your scout glasses…
I heard it can cost over 9000! But I know a guy that sells it for just little over 8000
This is the kind of multi-layered joke that makes me love the internet.
Hmm. Well the initial footage of that person climbing into the pod seems totally at odds with the diagram at the end of the video showing what appears to be a pod able to fit between 8 and 10 people, all strapped into seats braced and fitted with harnesses.
I also seriously doubt you'd get 8 to 10 people to be able to enter such a pod and harness themselves all securely and safely... While a disaster is happening all around in real time.
There is no way that there could be an adequate oxygen supply for 8 people in a ball that barely holds 8 people.
“Hello, everyone. Welcome to the orgy egg. As you can probably guess from the name, I have some ideas about how we should spend our last few minutes on earth.”
Looks like I found the right pod
Shit! I'd do that right now! Can we have a survival drill please ;)
"Thanks for the f-egg, Love dirty Mike and the boys."
"We will have sex in that egg "
“Can I offer you a nice egg in this trying time” got the whole new meaning
"Heck yeah! I love omelets. Where's the stove?"
Orgy egg with a sprinkle of BDSM from the ensuing suffocation when the oxygen runs out
It's actually not that hard. Humans don't really need that much oxygen. The trick is getting rid of the CO2. We have some pretty effective CO2 absorbers, too.
Yes, why even build such fancy contraptions when sacrificing ten virgins every year would stop the God in the ocean from causing tsunamis.
Ocean god is mad you put 10 virgins in the pod instead of his mouth.
10 virgins in this economy is a lot more expensive than the pod, obviously
Dear God/s,
We can only afford four virgins at the moment, please accept our humble sacrifice and refrain from tsunami-ing us until we are able to provide more…
Sincerely,
Peasants
Bigger pod for more people
Exactly! The one at the beginning of the vid and the one at 6 seconds have a totally different size relative to the door
Imagine being the first in and theres still like 4 ppl to get in and you see the wall of water coming. Now your strapped in a pod filled with water and other strapped in people are in your way to get out.
Isn't that one for one or two people? I think I saw two types, and only the last one for 8 people
I hope they thought about people puking inside.
What if suddenly you had to pee?
If i were in there, in a real tsunami, i would be shitting my pants so your pathetic pee would go unnoticed compared to the spectacle of a man filling his pants with shit
you let it flow
“Screw dat! What are we supposed to do about poo poos!”
You're going to be really upset with what happens the next morning.
“Help, step brother! I’m stuck in the tsunami pod again.”
With this, instead of climbing out of the rubble, you can get trapped and slowly suffocate in darkness. What a deal!
I'll take my chances with my own balls
I'll take my chance with your balls too
Normally I'd encourage this but given your username I have to ask you to wash your hands first. Enjoy
"I also choose this guy's balls"
Count me in.
Do your balls float?
Wait I'll have to run a bath and try
There’s enough plastic in em’
I know, I’ve been skeeting legos.
If they're detached then yes. Don't ask me why i know it
In theory. But will you really have time to get in there.
Say you have a tsunami warning. Do you just sit there with your whole family in case a tsunami does hit?
I hope there's extra oxygen tank in there or it'll be an expensive round coffin.
So I watched a thing on this before. It has a weight inside to keep it upright in the water and a valve which can be opened at the top to allow air to freely flow. The oxygen supply is meant to be used when the valve detects water and shuts or is manually shut(usually when being tossed around with debris).
But yea what they recommend is basically chilling in the ball when a warning is issued until all clear.
I guess it would be akin to waiting in a basement during a tornado warning?
Hopefully nobody has to shit
if you have time, better spend that time to run to high building tbh
Im pretty sure if a giant wave slams into this thing (while you are strapped inside it) that you are still fucked.
Who farted?
Prolly me, sorry. Being nervous makes my tummy upset, and being tossed around by a tsunami in a big hamster ball like a carnival ride from hell def would cause nervousness.
Dunno but I got to go rn
I don't know but I 'm pretty sure everyone vomited.
When he said that each capsule is equipped with (...) oxygen supply, I immediately thought of the story of Apollo 1 astronauts: "Astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee died on Jan. 27, 1967, during a flash fire inside the Apollo 1 crew capsule during a launch test rehearsal."
You mean the vomitorium?
"extreme heat"
*small propane torch aimed at half inch thick steel*
yeah no shit youre not going to burn homies hand those things are made to sweat plumbing fittings lol im not convinced id be safe in that thing inside of a burning building.
"For the love of God sir there are two seats!"
"I like to put my feet up."
Even if it works... I wouldn't do it 🥲
Don't worry. You won't get sent to planet namek.
Sweet! Who doesn't want to get sucked into the ocean in their air right aluminum ball.
Theoretically? Yes. In practice? Not unless gps can penetration concrete and water
Spherical coffin.
Imagine being trapped under the rubble as you slowly run out of oxygen and can't open the door.
I'll just drown, thanks.
And you need to poop.
You can poop in the pod i guess. Just try to avoid the poop as the ball rolls around and it detaches from... well, wherever you landed it. Suffocating in the pod is not so bad as rolling in your own poop and THEN suffocating
Isn’t the alternative you just get crushed to death or drowned by the torrent of water? This at least gives you a better chance of surviving. Also, it has an aid supply and air valves.
You wouldn’t really just drown, you would get mangled and impaled by debris while suffocating under the polluted slurry.
One fart and it’s OVER!
Imagine the puke flying around once it starts moving...
Go to the museum at the bottom of Niagara Falls to see the success rate of these contraptions. Some made it, some did not. It’s not the fall that kills you but the suffocating
Imagine being caught in a tsunami where you survive the huge waves, debris, shock and everything at the initial point and then dying due to concussion because some asshole bought this and is sitting in this metal ball which got hurled towards you.
On the flip side, getting in and it gets stuck in a huge amount of debris that got washed up and then you die because no one can reach you. Or, the water throws at a very high place and then you fall and die.
this metal ball which got hurled towards you
kind of like a car?
If it comes down to me either drowning or suffocating in a sea of farts in some hamster ball… waves, take me away.
It needs galvanized square steel
Galvanized steel?
Tsunami death ball.
Good thing there will be a lot of squishy people around to soften your impact.
I like how everyone is tearing the idea apart but would instantly jump in one if faced with a tsunami. And it's easy to say I'd rather drown but you don't get the choice. You don't know if you'll drown unless you purposely drown yourself.
Sure I would love to jump in one if the circumstances of me standing in front of the device and have ample time to strap myself in before the tsunami hits, the issue is strapping yourself up on time in which case if you are on the sphere and you don't strap in your basically in a hamster ball and getting thrown around will probably kill you. Getting to the device before the tsunami hits is also a challenge because you kind of don't know when they will hit in countries where this is directed too, mainly areas with almost no early warning detection.
No airbags huh
If one could get to it and then gets sucked out to sea, who is going to rescue?
Titan to Go.
Niagara Falls, Here I come!
Looks like a pre-made casket to me.
Tsunami capsule, built with protection of extreme heat. This will work perfectly against those lava tsunamis I've been hearing about.
Instead of a fairly quick death you can die slowly in casket that you paid for
I'd probably suffocate or die of claustrophobia before help arrives
It's a trap
Is that a pokeball for humans?
Everything great until it gets stuck underwater
where does the air come from?
supposedly has an oxygen supply. im still skeptical. i guess it better than nothing but eeeesh would not like to fall from a waterfall in that
This is a great idea and all... but I feel like it's one of them Earthquake beds kinda situation. Price will be high, the people who need it can't afford it and has the potential for major problems.
I would need so much Dramamine.
Its just a rolly-polly coffin.
Good at handling all those really high temperatures you see in... Tsunamis.
A lot of kinks to work out such as air supply and locators to determine positioning. Also, the biggest thing is probably cost. I couldn’t imagine people forking over any substantial amount of money and making infrastructure to support a protocol to get into these types of pods.
Can you stream Disney and Netflix, how big is the tv. Is there a beer cooler. So many questions.
They showed a scene of it falling from a large waterfall. Ok the pod is intact…am I?
I saw a documentary a while ago on how people participated in all sorts of experiments before sending astronauts to space. And one of the experiments was inside this type of capsule. They wanted to know how much time can a person survive in case of an emergency landing somewhere in the ocean, while a rescue team will be on their way. I believe they concluded that 12 hours in this capsule is fatal. And those were specially trained people with ideal health.
Be a nice way to watch the effects of centrifugal force on multiple peoples’ vomit..🤮
It would be a fun way to experience a tsunami. Like a carnival ride.
cool coffin
We'd engineer the shit out of something to survive the effect of climate change, but use duck tape to solve the root problem
How do you breathe? And how long?
I think this scares everyone who played Mother 3 😅
i was looking for this reference
It gives me the vibes of that Titanic Submarine
Bro's in the Absolutely Safe Capsule
After seeing what happened with the titan. I trust no capsules so no thank you
Hell of a casket if it doesn't work
