[Jake Fischer](on Brandon Ingram): "Atlanta is another popular landing spot league figures have pointed to for Ingram, but there have been no substantive talks between the Hawks and Pelicans."
newsTony is cheap af. Never even tried to go into luxury tax to help win either.
Don't really see the fit with Zacc here now
Even without Zacc, I genuinely don't understand why we would want Ingram. He's kind of like a king sized DJ.
Honestly, I'd take whatever we would trade for BI and go for Herb instead. "Overpay" for that MF
Also misses a ton of games. Hasn't played 65 games since his rookie year.
this is why I don't understand his supposed unwillingness to take a cheaper deal. I get he has leverage with any team that trades for him, but nobody thinks he's worth a max extension with that track record of health and shooting
This is what I'm saying I don't understand this!!! Where tf would he even play??? We have Zacc and JJ, why tf would u want or need Ingram
I think people are too locked-into the positions
I dont want Ingram that much (almost certainly a better deal out there for DJ) but you can run Trae-Zacc-Ingram-JJ-Insert center of choice. Trae and Ingram are the primary ballhandlers & scorers. JJ is JJ. Center in dunker spot/OO occaisonally takes a corner 3. Allows Zacc to play a simple game early on, do what he does best, Maneuver around the court and take jumpers and play solid defense. He'd be a massive 2 guard next to trae but that's kinda ideal atp
Agree, Risacher can defend most SGs. One of his biggest strengths is screen navigation as a defender. There aren’t many SGs who cook off the dribble in todays league. And Risacher is not a bad POA option even against those guys. But his off ball defense at the 2 would be an immediate upgrade. And offensively he can be an off ball player, tons of ball handlers if you have Ingram.
Our SG needs to be able to guard PGs though, we can’t have Trae be the only person capable of guarding a Maxey or a Haliburton or we’ll keep seeing what we saw last year when every random guard went off for career highs on us.
True good point. Risacher against NBA point guards, probably not ideal. But they say he’s good getting around screens in PnR and may have the ability to defend 1-3 according to some evaluators. But yeah you ideally want an elite guard defender next to Trae. Risacher might be able to handle big PGs but super quick maybe not
I think Zac can play the 2, Ingrams a 3 and is an upgrade over Dre. I’m assuming DJ would be the main piece in a Ingram trade. Maybe they see Zach as a 2 instead of a 3 at this point.
Even tho I think Zac can play the 2 I still don't know if Ingram will be a good fit because we should be an even more fast paced team now
We can still be a faced paced team with Ingram, I think he fits fine , I’m not enthused about the idea of giving BI a max though if we were to acquire him.
Nothing wrong with having depth. ZR would still get a lot of minutes behind BI and JJ.
You could also play all 3 of those guys on the court at the same time too
I’m still on board with a Zacc at the two experiment. He’s not a stiff, he may not be a lockdown defender at the 2 but between him, Ingram, and JJ, that’s a lot of mobility and length 2-4. It now becomes a question of want to. In the playoffs we’ve seen average joes or even terrible defenders turn it up. It’s about time we start playing every game defensively like it was game 7. We just haven’t cared on that end for many years.
We need to ask ourselves were a self created scoring will come from outside of Trae. JJ likely isn’t ready for that kind of role in the half court. Zacc sure isn’t. OO, or whoever we get at center, likely won’t be a scorer either.
It’s not a hand and glove fit, but Trae and Zacc will get up a high volume of 3s, and Ingram has had seasons where he took them at a moderate clip, and that was his only season with Lonzo, a quick witted, strong passer like Trae. JJ is surely working on his game and will probably take 5 a game next season if I had to guess.
My only reserve with Ingram is the contract and his health. I actually really like the basketball fit. His playstyle is similar to Dejounte except he’s 6’8. Dejounte’s offense wasn’t perfect, similar to Ingram, but Dejounte’s real problem was that there were portions of his tenure here where Trae comfortably defended better than he did.
According to Pels fans, Ingram was very solid in that department and has been getting better over the years in general. Versatile, long players is what always should’ve been the blueprint in a lineup with Trae. Between Riscaher/Ingram/JJ, none are lockdown defenders, but their length and mobility could create a terrifying team defense, especially if we get a rim protector like Kessler
Brandon Ingram is overrated and trading for him would be a mistake
he aint got hawks dna
is Trey murphy available?
TraeXTrey would be dope
Dejounte might be a Pelican and we don't even get B.I back lol
Edit: to explain it says Hawks and Pelicans been talking about DJ trade but B.I doesn't seem to be involved in that conversation
That better come with a couple picks and a player we really like.
I assume Herb is off the table and likely Murphy too, and I don’t wanna live in a world where Trae and CJ play together lol.
Dyson Daniels and Nance might work in salary
So maybe those two guys plus a couple FRPs? Or is it gonna make me sad when only one gets sent our way with lotto protections?
Nailed it.
Am I right??
Picks seem likely don't know how many
This mf predicted the future
Am I a wizard?
No you're a Hawk
Herb/Trey Murphy has gotta be in it if BI isn’t coming
Wishful thinking tbh they view those guys how we view Jalen Johnson
You wouldn't give up Jalen for B.I they wouldn't give up those guys for DJ
I wouldn't mind someone like Hawkins along with Dyson and Larry Nance, Herb and Trey are obviously off limits, especially for a guy like Murray
I like hawkings too
What kind of black magic fuckery is this
No picks, just give me Herb.
If only it were that simple.
A 3 team deal with NOP has always seemed like the likeliest outcome. If there is one team that is more obviously a tax ducker than us, it's NOP and we're both in the tax right now. Only way a deal would have ever worked would have been if we both shaved $$ and that can't happen with just two teams.
Best idea I have right now is to use DET and let them land Ingram. Problem there would be if NOP would prefer the cap savings and assets themselves over DJ though.
Hawks struggle to even get a regular trade done a 3 teamer with major salaries moving is gonna be tough
Doesn’t make any sense. Zac has never played guard, offensively he doesn’t have the ball skills and defensively you can’t bet on a 6’9 guy who isn’t a mega freak athlete to consistently D up guards and not get injured. Maaaaybe he can be a guard full time, but probably not. We have too much invested now at F to bring in BI in and hope our number 1 overall pick who has never played guard and is a prototypical 3 and D F will be able to play G full time.
Yeah people who think Zac can come in and play the two are nuts, our SG needs to not only be able to defend other SGs but also the quickest PGs in the league, because having Trae be the only defender capable of doing that would be suicide. Yeah Zac could do fine guarding Derrick Jones Jr but no way in hell can you ask him to be the primary defender on the Maxeys of the world.
It’s not a knock on Zac either. There are just so few guys who can do that, you don’t just assume a 6’9 F can play G cuz he guarded down on some possessions. It’s awesome if he can switch or take a spot assignment here or there, but it would be actually insane to commit to the inevitable BI max because you assume Zac can play a position he’s never played before when he’s never even played a minute of NBA ball!
A dejounte and capela deal for Ingram makes sense. But no one wants to pay that man a max contract so I get why ATL isn’t too thrilled on trading for him.
Wouldn't make sense for NOP though. They will want to cut $$ and they don't really have the salaries to make up for Cap too unless we're eating McCollum on top of Ingram.
Who's replacing Clint in that scenario though? The big man market is weak, especially with Claxton resigning in Brooklyn. A starting 5 of Trae/Zacc/Ingram/Jalen/Onyeka would be one of the worst defensive lineups in the league, if not the worst.
We have to do whatever we can to get Kestler, maybe even go after Ayton
Even if the Hawks didn’t resign BI, it would open up a large sum of cash to utilize in FA once BI is off the books. Not the end of the world if they don’t envision DJM as part of their long-term plans…
I can promise you BI isn't coming here.
I agree
Imo I’d rather have a deal centered around Dyson Daniels and picks
You might get your wish but I wonder how Trae would feel
Dyson/Zacc/JJ would be the best combination of size + defense we’ve had in this era. I know Dyson is super raw but he’s still only 21 and could grow with the other guys. Could easily be our core for the next 10 years if everything works properly
So no talks but Atlanta is "popular landing spot?" I don't think he helps much anyway.
Get this man back in LA. If not, Atlanta works.
Have the Hawks been doing anything since the season ended?
They took a nice trip to France
yes man they scouted players lol. Like 3 trades have happened since season's end. They were always going to wait to see how the draft went and then get into the inevitable roster shakeup
Alright I'll give it until like mid-July before I return to question their inability to get anything done.
i think that is reasonable if by mid july they aint done shit then everyone should be quite upset lol. especially if they just like, lose vit for no reason
Tony don’t wanna pay that man, neither do I.
