What could end up killing YouTube?
I got an add at the beginning of a song, and one in the middle. That should never happen.
i looked up a trailer and got the trailer as the ad
Task failed successfully?
Successfully failed task
lol. Brilliant move by google. why show it free when they can scam that ad revenue!
Actually an incredibly dumb move by the advertiser, who must have targeted that video (or at the very least not excluded it from the targeting), therefore spending useless money.
Xhibit in charge of YT now?
Yo dawg we heard you like trailers
So we put a trailer in your trailer so you can preview while you preview
I've noticed that some ads on videos targeted to kids are extremely long. My kids don't watch too much YouTube, but I've had to skip 45 minute long ads that pop up randomly during their video. Kids don't understand the difference between content and advertising, so they'll sit and watch a 45-minute long commercial if they're not supervised. That Ryan's World channel got a lot of heat for that. Every episode was "Wow, I sure do love eating at McDonald's® and drinking Coca-Cola®! Don't forget the McNuggets®!"
If I recall correctly, there's actually a law that says that children's television has to identify when they're watching an advertisement or the TV show. That's why they have "bumpers" that separate the TV show from the commercials (think the "You're watching Disney channel, well be right back to Cory in the House" bits).
These laws haven't caught up to the internet age.
They do that stuff with children content alot. All of a sudden there's a 20 minute skippable video/ad playing of something unrelated to whatever I allowed my kid to watch.
Yup because they know the kids won’t hit the skip button
Which is stupid and bordering fraud to advertisers because they know kids won't also have the money to spend.
It used to be said that the best TV ads were aimed at 3-4 year olds and relied on pester power. As ther were a demographic likely to be plonked down in front of the TV and wouldn't change the channels by themselves.
When the lego movie 2 was in theatres, WB made ads where it was Chris Pratt saying don't click away from the nearly 2 hour ad. The ad was the lego movie, in its Entirety.
You better believe I downloaded it before it became private
On the longer videos, I’m getting unskippable double ads every 5 minutes.
I use an ad blocker. I'm sorry but nothing they advertise is relevant or interesting to me. If that ever stops working I'll delete my account and they'll get no views.
As someone in tech, the next step is to pre-bake the ads in the content directly. No blocking domains or div's or anything like that. Video frames with ads baked
seamlessly into the video directly - rotated on the fly as needed. We are at the point where we have the processing power to do it.
Same for 3rd party ads on websites which most ad blockers rely on blocking the domain -- the ad-blocks will come directly from the domain without any indication that it is an advertising block, maybe even use a ton of random divs for anyone that thinks they can outsmart the domain and re-write the dom.
Online advertising is about to get really aggressive.
Already, if you have an ad-blocker set up on the DNS level, it doesn’t block YouTube ads because they come from the same CDN. I’d argue there’s already ads baked into the videos with channel sponsorships, but yeah, the next step is to just splice it in when they serve you the video so you can’t do a thing about it
There's another extension, called SponserBlock, that will highlight those bits of the video and autoskip them. I don't see ads or sponserships in any of the content I consume on YouTube anymore.
Online advertising is about to get really aggressive.
Worse, it'll be seamlessly baked into the content (e.g. as product placement), which will all be low-quality mass produced computer generated shite that appeals to the lowest common denominator.
This will likely kill YouTube and any social media that uses algorithms to feed people content based on maximum engagement (read: addictiveness).
YouTube could do it.
Other websites? Nope.
YouTube can becauae they are Google. Most other websites use Google for ads... And I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Imagine getting an add in the middle of You Suffer by Napalm Death
That track is so golden lmao The runtime is what, 4 seconds or something? But the actual audio is only a second or two. Scum is just a great record altogether.
I refuse to watch YT ads that aren't 5secs atp.
Don't care if I waste more time reloading the video to avoid an ad I'm not watching that shit, and now the "skip in 5" just straight up lies.
i attempted to watch a two hour stream on my ps5 the other day (i only watch yt on my computer), i kidd you not, ads every 5-7 minutes x))) that’s even worse than tv
That hasn’t really affected American sports.
Watching any of them is painful with how often ad breaks occur, and how long each ad break is.
how often ad breaks occur
When is this? It is non-stop advertising even during play. They will even re-size the content to play ads during the event. It is insufferable.
I got an ad that was a minute long for a 15 second video
That's already a thing.
Dude... 4 ads in a 10m video is total bullshit.
We interrupt these advertisements to bring you some more ads!
Hulu is getting there
Firefox and ad blocker. Haven't had ads since I dont even know
More unskippable ads.
No joke ever since 2024 rolled around the ads have been EXCESSIVE. I don't even bother watching a video now if there is a 20+ second ad. I just go to my moms ad-free Hulu for good content
20 second ad followed by an elevator pitch for a sketchy vpn or supplement or razor or GROUND NEWS. Ugh. I miss the aughts.
I read in stock news earlier in 2023 that Advertisers were expected to do good because companies need to rely on advertising this year to sell all of the shit they weren't able to sell last year. Truly a sad dystopian
IPHONE 15 IN A MOUS CASE!!! Bro im tired of that voice it haunts me at night :(
I literally blocked that ad. I 100 percent feel you.
All im getting are Casino ads, and i dont have personalized ads on
At least you can skip the sponsors, and with the new chapter thing on menu you know just where to go.
I had to stop my YouTube Red for the first time in like 7 years and I can't explain how horrible the experience has been.
It's not even just the ads, which are extremely excessive, my algorithm is filled with shit that I'm not even subbed to.
It's a world of difference.
Also I get not being able to shut my screen off but YouTube Music? Seriously.
Idk how anyone can go with regular YouTube without paying for it. It's so much better with the sub.
Can't wait to get back.
Idk how anyone can go with regular YouTube without paying for it.
Vanced on mobile, ublock on PCs. That's how
Wait for that sticker shock. You won't get your old price back.
Yeah I remember how they slowly got worse on ads. First they made them unskippable, then they made it 2 skippable ads before finally making it 2 unskippable ones. This happened over many years, but I noticed lol, YT isn't sneaky.
I can't believe I live in a world where this word is actually necessary. It's a sad day friends.
My favorite term of 2023 and going forward.
Bad for the consumer, bad for the producer, and just provides value to the platform owner and their investors.
I remember when YouTube didn't have ads other than a banner in the upper corner of the site... Then it was a skippable ad every few videos... Then every video... Then unskippable ads... Now ads every 2 minutes it feels.
Ads are what killed Skype, ads will kill youtube (if anything does)
It's a plague now. If I'm watching a vid on my work laptop (can't install ublock) it's honestly unbearable. Went to a video the other day, had already seen the first part, so I endured the initial ad then clicked on the timestamp I wanted. Got another ad straight away.
Greed.
YouTube is honestly unwatchable without uBlock or Revanced. Seriously. SponsorBlock is a lifesaver as well.
Please tell me SponsorBlock skips the in-video sponsored stuff.
That is precisely what it does.
Ublock Origin is the GOAT, they are constantly one upping Youtube every time the latter tries to update its blocking of adblockers.
Chuckles by connecting to Moldova with VPN
My guy thank you for giving this blessed information
I gave up and paid.
I feel like I get my moneys worth. I use it for both entertainment and a learning resource.
I gave in too. Was tiring having to do more and more bypasses with unlock origin to get through.
Can't you just click the ' i ' icon on the video then click block ad and you can then skip it. This always works for me.
The recent update got rid of that option on my tv for now, I hate it. I keep getting an inappropriate ad for sex toys, even though my account is set to under 18 (I'm not a minor anymore, I just forgot to change it) and not at all interested in that type of thing. It used to work like that, but that option as a whole is currently gone for me...
I watch youtube primarily on a desktop/laptop so this isn't so much of an issue for me
They need the ads for funding because they have to store and stream a billion billion hours of shit content.
I would argue that the storage costs are really what's killing it. If they archived every video under 1000 views after a month of posting, then they could probably run off half the ad revenue.
Honestly I would wager 3/4ths of the videos on YouTube can be deleted tomorrow and lot of people wouldn’t notice
probably upwards of 90%
Hey, I’d miss my 1 YouTube video with 3 views on it.
Start with every react video
Personally, I think if you upload a short of a robot narrating a reddit post while Minecraft plays in the background, YouTube should just automatically dispatch a hit squad to your home.
Or just migrate a large population of videos over a certain age with few views to a random instance in Timbuktu. Users can still see it, but it’ll take forever to buffer.
You can safely assume that YouTube has a tiered storage system already, where this is exactly how it's implemented.
Google has the same distinction as other services as part of their Cloud Storage offering:
Pornhub has become absolutely unusable after they did that. All the amateur content that got me off just sort of vanished and got replaced by shitty "professional" porn that is just so off-putting to me. Nobody seems to be enjoying themselves and all the exaggerated guttural roars they try to pass off as moaning really just kills the vibe
Xhamster is where it is at for the amateur content.
Another platform that pays creators more.
Nebula's already doing that, and from what I've seen they're both doing well and have a much more user- and creator-friendly experience, but they aren't killing or replacing YouTube anytime soon
I have Nebula, and I like Nebula, but if you limit who can post on it, and make it accessible only by subscription, it will never be as large as something anyone can post on and watch for free.
Nebula isn’t trying to be Youtube it’s trying to be Netflix.
Been tried many times. None have managed to make it work.
I'm not sure. Did that work on Microsoft's version of Twitch? Kick is trying, too.....too early to call it, but it's not an overnight success.
Actually creators would probably just use every platform available in order to have multiple streams of income
It’s already happening twitch is no longer signing partners to platform exclusivity contracts and allowing everyone to multi stream now. Many people are streaming to at least YouTube and twitch or more at the same time.
YouTube.
You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.
Truth. No external threat will take down YouTube. It can easily destroy itself though.
Yep. Even Google at their height couldn't beat YT so they just bought it instead.
They need to fix their algorithm. Searching for something is an absolute pain in the ass, it'll show you five barely related videos, unrelated shorts, a plethora of videos you've already watched, more unrelated shorts and it goes on. Also, I haven't really been seeing anything interesting on my home page for a long time now, I just watch videos from channels that I've already subscribed to 99% of the time (this one might just be personal though).
No, YouTube, I do not want to watch a 12 hour essay on Skyrim again. I'll watch it again next year.
Stupid AI channels posting dumb content
This is the absolute truth, and I entirely agree. There are so many stupid AI channels right now, I can't even conduct a search without seeing them in the results.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a video about a topic I was interested in (“NFL rule change for 2024 season!”) and click the video and it’s a terrible AI
guy voice reading an AI script.
I click off those damn things so fast. It’s just…ugh.
Wanna see something funny? Well, it's funny for the time being, but in the future this will probably become a damn calamity. The latest AI trend I see often uses Graham Hancock in the thumbnail but the videos all have stupid sensationalist titles like an Ebay listing and nothing of substance in the video, just an AI voice reading some stupid script from a simple command search from the originator. Yet, every single video has hundreds of thousands of views.
Imagine people actually think there's an education of some kind there. Disgusting.
YES. I love watching independent documentary videos about a variety of topics and I was trying to go down the rabbit hole of the Voyager probes. It was ridiculously hard to find a decent one that wasn't an AI script and computer voice. I'll admit, they're getting convincing but it's still off and impossible to listen to.
Now that I think about it this will be a huge problem. Easy video generation, text generation and voice generation with AI. You can literally clone your own voice and use it and it sounds very decent.
But the problem is that the script will contain some smaller or bigger mistakes and the creator won’t notice and also won’t care…. So we will end up with a bunch of wrong information on a lot of videos.
Not that it isn’t an issue right now, but this one will sure be much more of an issue in the future.
It's noticeable right now. Sentences that sound good but don't really make sense. Weird pronunciations. Years being read like numbers (1998 being said "one thousand, nine hundred and ninety eight").
It's impressive, but also somehow really shitty and sad. Makes you appreciate actual creators for sure. I'll plug one, as an example: Oceanliner Designs. He has an abundant passion for ships and history and it shows in the quality of his videos. AI just can't replicate that.
If I get any more Presidents do X videos with dumb childish edits and bad jokes I'll delete my account.
Too many ads. It’s becoming so annoying it’s gaining news coverage and could very well spark the downfall of the platform as we know it.
…never mind, that article was published in 2009.
uBlock origin says hi.
Does that work again now? I’ve cut back about 98% of watching YouTube since the adblockpocalypse. If I want to watch a video now, it’s only for a specific thing and I open it in a private window where I’m not signed in and use an adblocker there. Would be nice to not have to open a private window, but there is no way in hell I’m not running an adblocker on YouTube.
Just clear the cache. Every time YouTube introduced more Adblock-Block, uBlock is around it in about an hour. Or manually get rid of an ad by clicking the circled “i” and click on “don’t show again” (or something)
Mine never stopped working for whatever reason
Same. I haven't got a single YouTube forced ad and I've been using uBlock there entire time. I was very confused reading about others having issues.
Same. Although I've heard it's worse if you're on Chrome, or a Chromium based browser.
The people who have had it stopped working are all on chromium based browsers. I've never strayed from fire fox and never had any issues outside of the recent buffering that alphabet has been allegedly been pulling with non chromium browsers
I only use Firefox
It takes them two months to catch me, and five minutes to circumvent it again.
Which is great when I'm on my desktop but it's still frustrating watching on my phone or playstation
YouTube revanced extended
Cleantube
Brave browser, its like going back in time.
Alphabet deciding to end of life it and add it the graveyard: https://killedbygoogle.com/
It would be hilariously on brand if one day google just killed YouTube for no apparent reason whatsoever
They’ll have to make a shittier version of it first, then kill off YouTube. Much like they did with Google Play Music & the much shittier YouTube Music.
Interesting how often Google tried to create a trip planning service. Would love to habe something like that - would be a great addition to flights.google.com and google.maps
They really should’ve stuck that one out, considering Google maps has all those reviews to feed data from for personalization
The ads are becoming so egregious and oppressive. I don’t know that it’ll “kill” YouTube, but it’s turning it into corporate TV stations. The further away it gets from individual creators and communities and the closer it’s near being a 100% corporate controlled, monolithic grotesquerie, the fewer people will find it. They’ll all engage with something else.
I use an adblocker and that helps with the ads, but that doesn’t stop baked in sponsorships nor does it make the content any better.
Try the sponserblock add-on.
Grown adults censoring naughty swear words for their majority adult audience on the Internet is one of the most pathetic things to happen to the Internet. I can't believe people just bent over for it with no kickback. The future is bleak, it's religious puritism in a new advertiser friendly guise.
Some people say ads, but IMO that's not the problem.
I think what is killing YouTube is its business model. YouTube allows anyone to upload basically anything of essentially whatever length. What ends up happening is that most of the uploads are of extremely low quality, and people (including myself) are using it for archival and social sharing purposes instead of producing serious contents. This drives up the cost for YouTube, which needs to be offset by running more ads from the more established channels.
What I have been seeing YouTube doing recently is desperately recommending small channels' videos. These channels typically have less than 100 subs, and the video themselves have usually less than 100 views. I think it's a sign that YouTube is trying extremely hard to find and promote smaller channels. Unfortunately, these smaller channels are really, really low quality 99.99% of the time.
As someone running a smaller channel (5K range) I tend to click on these small channel recommendations to both support other creators and see what my competition is like. Sadly that 99% number is pretty accurate, but I've found a few gems over the last few years.
I was wondering why I suddenly started seeing recommended videos with so few views.
I've noticed the same thing too, this includes the auto-generated YouTube music videos from " - Topic" channels, which were uploaded only hours ago and with 2 or 3 views.
Take my upvote dude. I did notice this phenomenon of Youtube recommending me smaller channels. Unfortunately most of their recommendations do not work for me.
I really hope that they find something which benefits everyone including the creators and the audiences. As much flak as Youtube receives, many people's livelihood depends on the platform.
We also need to keep in mind that YouTube has just recently become profitable. Some new non-invasive methods of monetization will help everyone if it ever becomes a reality.
Yes always on the front page on the bottom left (Sometimes it switches to another position like middle or top) and even if I refresh, alongside the usual videos there's always one which has 100 views and has no purpose being there
Forced unskippable adds & longer ads.
The only thing that will bring YouTube down as the primary video service of the internet, is competition.
Ads, censorship of creators, etc etc, that’s all fluff to complain about until there is another platform to even use.
Censorship. You literally can’t say anything on YouTube without getting demonetized, yet they allow bigoted ads on the site.
Needing to say 'unalived' because the word 'killed' is just too offensive is ridiculous.
Some sites just ban unalive entirely.
A psychotherapist who makes videos on the platform has had to re-edit her video on sex addiction seven times now in order to keep it up. It's not monetized, she's literally fighting to be able to offer insight, support and directions towards resources for people with an addiction. We're all adults here, but we can't hear the word 'sex'? Really?
I don't think anything can realistically even come close to killing Youtube.
Edit: Not even Youtube itself
A lack of competitors is the only thing keeping YouTube alive.
That is the terrifying truth. There are some competitors out there, but none are as big or do content as well (I use that term very loosely here) as YouTube does.
Even if a competitor comes along, with the amount of useful things that are on YouTube, it's gonna be difficult to kill YouTube
Well, YouTube is almost 20 years old.
How the fuck are we going to erase 20 years?
And I think that is going to be the main issue getting a rival to match YouTube. How do you match 20 years of information and build a community that is bigger than YouTube at the same time? Cause apps like tiktok got a bigger user base than YouTube for a bit(maybe it's still bigger idk), but because it lacks that 20 year information, it will never be able to overtake YouTube until that 20 year information gap has been closed. (I'm just using this as an example. Not saying tiktok is a rival as they do very different, but also sometimes similar things)
At this point they’ve dominated the medium so much it’ll have to be a complete shift in how we consume media with YouTube clinging onto “fads come and go but video will never die”.
It happens to all the major companies. Modern companies try really hard to stay above the curve now ever since the tech boom but it’s a hard inevitability to always stay a step ahead of.
That's what they said about AOL.
Which would work here if some way of ingesting, analyzing, storing, and serving video comes along and YouTube doesn't keep up.
AOL "died" because they didn't keep up with the times.
Surprisingly, AOL still exists and has several million customers.
The cost of hosting/streaming video is just so incredibly high you'd need a serious business model and income stream to be crazy enough to do it.
Dailymotion while make a huge come back ! Just wait and see
it's all ad related.
Once no adblocking can keep up, and they double down on them, People will just stop using it. A lot of people already have moved into twitch and other places.
Twitch is worse for ads, in my opinion...
Twitch is worse because they delete vods after a set amount of time.
I agree. Something interesting will be happening then boom, cuts to 9 unskippable ads in a row. I watch YouTube more than twitch now because of it.
The difference I think is YouTube pauses the content with ads, while with Twitch, the streamer keeps on going.
That and I'm pretty sure there is not a single add below 20 seconds on twitch and absolutely no skippable adds whatsoever either.
I don’t believe this is true. People will complain, but YouTube simply doesn’t have any competition in the internet video sharing space. As long as content creators are using YouTube to post videos, the people who watch those creators will continue to watch as well, because the alternative is to just not watch those people at all
Twitch is not a video storage platform.
adblocking will always keep up.
they are open source, and the devs probably include some of the same people developing the ads/ad blocker blocking code to youtube.
ublock has never taken more than a day to over ride a new attempt by youtube to disable use on the site. even then, its usually solved inside of an hour, but people need to remember to clear their cache before it'll work.
Facebook or tiktok or ...
Increased well funded competition. At the scale of youtube, this absolutely cannot be done by a startup whos only goal is to be a 'better' youtube.
It simply cannot compete with the sheer content already on YouTube
"It simply cannot compete with the sheer number of horses available" - somebody the first time they saw their first car
Plenty of businesses and business models are absolutely essential and invincible, until they disappear. YouTube probably already has a shared doc for "implementable sponsor concepts for when everybody has a holo AR brain implant", but I think hubris will be what does them in. Once using it becomes more annoying than not using it, they're dead.
YT's businessmodel is impossible, you have almost unlimited storage available for free, and they have (I assume) monster connection to Internet because of sheer volume, thats not cheap. I wonder if they charged $1 from everyone annually, would that be enough to remove all ads?
I’d pay $10 annually for no ads
I got YouTube Red back when they called it that, and I have no regrets. Cheaper than a gym membership, and I get an astonishing amount of information and entertainment from the platform. I probably watch or listen to three hours of YouTube per day, on average, and the ability to avoid ads during that time saves me enough of my lifespan that I'm happy to pony up.
Plus I've convinced myself that the money partially goes to supporting the creators.
Red came with their music app subscription, right? I now use YouTube Music pretty heavily & it's great being able to bounce between just the song & the music video and using YouTube in general without even thinking about ads.
I get why people are cranky about the ads & not wanting to pay for an ad-free experience, but this is how the internet works now. Long gone are the days of little to no ads. Even if a new service comes along to dethrone YouTube, it'll be ad and/sub supported and once it claims the top spot, it'll be no better than YouTube.
Yeah, anyone launching against YouTube is going to have to sneak in with a niche. Like remember the early days of RPAN? I would LOVE a site that was just unfiltered, minimally-edited videos. No crazy effects, no obnoxious narration, no clickbait titles, no begging for likes, no in-band advertising ("... and speaking of murders, BluePlate is the best meal plan for murdering your hunger!").
I'd actually pay for that.
I'd actually pay for that.
Most people won't though.
Another service providing the same thing and enough people moving to that service and leaving YouTube.
Without a replacement service, nothing.
Based on previous track record, Elon Musk.
Nuclear apocalypse
I stopped using YouTube a year ago. The ads are what killed it for me.
Censorship— like I’m more amazed at how much of YouTube covers and hurts creators more for mature content than it did back in the day; I remember being able to watch combat footage of troops in Europe without the video being flagged or taken down.
It’s just so bizarre how protective they are trying to be when 60% of their audience is mostly adults. The whole language coverups and mature topics being flagged is just absurd and takes away from creative freedom.
Surprised no one even remotely talks about the censorship whatsoever.
All the forced ads
Enshittification.
Elon Musk buying it
I don't think he can afford youtube TBH
The ads
Becoming unviewable on browsers other than Chrome, at the same time that Chrome nixes extensions.
A viable alternative. There are a lot of people ready to jump ship from youtube, but to create a viable business model you have to take a lot into consideration.
- It has to be able to store a shit ton of data with no cost per GB. Currently, there's more content on youtube than one can feasibly watch in a millennia, even at 2x speed. Youtube doesn't charge users to store this content.
- You'd have to find a way to make the business profitable without ads. The storage farms will be expensive enough that you'd need a lot of capital to get going, as well as networking and of course the server architecture, but even taking the base capital away from the equation and just looking at a per month cost / revenue chart, it will be difficult to actually turn a profit. Youtube is currently being criticized due to their intrusive ads, so you'd have to have an alternative that makes money without those intrusive ads.
- You'd have to convince high profile content creators to switch over, or at least use your service. That means you'll have to compete with Google in their revenue sharing program, which means additional per month costs for you to cover somehow.
It's not something that I would expect to ever happen, to be quite honest. Really the only players that could compete with youtube as it currently is would be high profile companies like Amazon [which I believe owns Twitch, so they already compete somewhat], Microsoft [who competes with google search engine with bing], or another large tech company.
when they start putting ads on the paid youtube. i really hope I dont have to pirate youtube videos in the future cuz you have to buy some over price vip package to fully avoid ads.
I have yt premium, no ads for me. But what will end up killing YouTube is its repetitiveness of the kind of channels but with different creators. It has all the makings similar to the video game market crashed in the 80s
Kick/Mixer didn't seem to put much of a dent in Twitch, so "big competitor with big funding" probably isn't enough.
Netflix raised rates and lost out on content to everyone and their cousin deciding to create a competing streaming service. But Netflix also invested heavily in original content and has a strong first party catalog at this point. "Red Originals" flopped pretty hard for YouTube by comparison.
3 threats to YouTube from my perspective:
- Making the lives of the top ~100 creators so miserable that they either quit YouTube completely or are poached by a competitor for reasons more nuanced than "more money" (because that clearly didn't work for Mixer).
- A steadily rising barrier to entry for new content creators such that those creators are more frequently choosing a competing platform, which offers that competitor more dice-rolls for the next breakout PewDiePie or whatever.
- Making the platform so absurdly unusable that end users are practically begging for alternatives. YouTube regularly axes features that users want -- famously, the dislike button. They also do shit like inject a 60 second ad in front of a 60 second video. And bury a chronological feed of videos in the UI behind algorithmic suggestions.
To me, it's the stupid copyright strike abuse getting worse until no one can upload anything at all.
Elon Musk probably will close W (New youtube's name) after a while
Given popular media outlets that shall remain nameless- this is a valid point.
They already have YouTube shorts to combat this.
EweTube: All female sheep, all the time.
Something that's youtube, but does what youtube does better. probably not better for uses, but better for creators, so they leave YT and go to the new site.
A viable alternative.
Global blackout
Kidzovo is trying to kill youtube for kids.
The idea is that Youtube is incentivized to maximize kids' time on the platform so they can put more ads. So their algorithm would continue to push any weird or harmul thing to your child. See these: https://nypost.com/2023/03/01/worrying-reason-your-kid-cant-stop-watching-cocomelon/, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elsagate.
So, Kidzovo is building an interactive learning app for kids where they take content from creators like SciShow Kids, Kiboomers & Learning mole & they turn it interactive where kids need to do these activities where they tap or speak their responses or color a sheet. Parents can hear their child's responses & see their artwork come to life in a timelapse.
If done well, it could kill YouTube atleast for kids.
When the content becomes shorter than the ads.
