My dad was 40 when I was born. I remember in my mid forties getting my hair cut short. I wear glasses and when I put them on when the barber was finished and looked in the mirror, I said "hello dad". The barber laughed. Since then I've realized I have all kinds of his mannerisms. I have mixed feelings about that. But, hey. Genetics.
I don't have children, but I already behave like my dad. I think that many people who grew up in good families are like their parents, especially if they had good relationships. At about 25 years old I realized that we behave the same way and I don’t regret it, I have a great father who really spent a lot of time with me as a child, that’s why we are similar
Dude is awesome and I’m glad he is still alive. Sadly, I am basically my mom trying to be my dad. I ended up just fine but I’m adjacent. One of my sons is basically my dad though. That’s pretty cool. It will be like dad is still here when he isn’t anymore because he pretty much is. Thanks boy.
Luckily, I don't think I did. I seem to take more after my mom"s side of the family, which works for me considering the less like the abusive, womanizing bastard I am the better.
I’ve known that I’ve been getting more and more like my father for years, but it was around the time I was 27 or so that I stopped being embarrassed about it and started feeling proud.
Since then, I’ve just accepted it. I’m 37 now, and I’ve basically just become him at this point.
