We cancelled it due to the weather

Halifax : about as hard as Al Pacino without a little blue pill.

In Victoria it's huge with a shit ton of visitors from the mainland

Winnipeg: Canada Day might as well been yesterday because today's wather is only suitable for cranking a movie and ordering hot dogs (you thought I was gonna order pizza?)

I live in the West Island of Montréal (the Anglo side of Montréal) and there’s a big festival and a lot of festivities here. Also, there’s going to be a big show and some fireworks tonight. I think the Franco side of Montréal is less into Canada Day…

Considering we only have about two thousand people, our celebrations are quite big. There are free bouncy castles and slides for the kids, tons of food, karaoke and live music, free cake, a great firework show and other cool stuff. The town always goes over and above for family friendly events.

Military fly by, snowbirds fly by, fireworks, everyone in a variation of red and white, lots of flags and music. In a cool section of Ottawa.

Wish Ottawa had more attractions like street performers, rides and carnival games, rcmps on their horses for a show, a freakin moose taxidermy to take pics with?

We have makeup for kids, an f-18 jet cockpit demo for kids, a necklace making hut for kids.... I mean...

Also, the riverfront park downtown has lots of events and market stalls and food trucks. Lots to do that’s all mostly free.

Vancouver cancelled Canada Day fireworks because it is expensive and they believe it is offensive to the natives. Two excuses to cover their bases.

East York (in Toronto) is having a grand time at their annual event. Nice weather, sunny with a light breeze; lots of people, well spread out. Parade earlier, and the band that was onstage when I popped by was good. Plenty of vendors (food and other stuff) and games doing brisk business, the play area was packed, and lots of folks just hanging out in the shade. Nice mix of ages from babes in arms (or strollers) to retirees. Fireworks at 10 pm tonight.

I live in Ottawa, our wonderful country’s capital city, so pretty hard.

It was pretty packed in my area. Went out to get fish & chips and there was lots going on. Liquor store was even open

Saskatoon- it doesn’t go very hard, we have a park with Canada Day celebrations by the river that’s pretty busy, live music, vendors, beer gardens, fair games etc. but you’re average home isn’t having massive BBQ’s and keg parties, not very many Canadian flags out on peoples lawns. It’s pretty much just concentrated to Diefenbaker Park.

London UK is the city that fun forgot.

9 years ago they had a huge bash when (former Vancouver mayor and former Premier of BC) Gordon Campbell opened the doors to Canada House at Trafalgar Square and had beer and wings and cake for those lucky enough to score free tix.

These days, it’s just localised festivities run by various expat Canuck groups.

I had to work today and my (🇬🇧born but dual citizen 🇨🇦) kid (8F) had to go to school so there was no fun to be had this evening (UK schools have 2.5 more weeks to go before summer holidays)… I did wish the parent in Daughter’s class who has family in Canada a Happy Canada Day and as soon as I post this I need to go and WhatsApp my “brother from another mother” here in London (we grew up together in Vancouver) and his son and wish them HCD.

1. My city has cancelled all Canada stuff. Last year was just fireworks. Now it’s nothing.

I read that a Canada DRY at first and thought “well I guess my city likes ginger ale, but I wouldn’t describe it as hard”

There isn't a single Canadian flag, no one mentioned it at all. It's just a day where some of us don't work.

In Windsor, I know we had a parade which lasted about an hour and most stores are closed. That is all I know of

Here in Sudbury, ON, there's usually a big celebration at Bell Park, capped off with a fireworks show. This year, it's a drone show, I'm pretty excited! (Assuming I can stay up that late, I'm old, haha!)

This year they have a band I like but we were out partying a touch too hearty last night 🌃. My liver needs a rest 🤕 and ,you know, crowds 🤒.

Guelph, nothing happening. Rotary club used to host fireworks but they didn’t have the volunteer support to do so this year and for some reason the city didn’t step up to do anything 🤷🏻‍♀️ so nothing happening. Lots of people out enjoying the day though.

Well we never have busses running for Canada day, so not very freaking hard!

Businesses go hard, city/govt planned celebrations are pretty boring now. Ffs I think my local Cabela's/Bass Pro was decked out in more Canadian flags and decorations than City Hall.

Govt groups decided that we need to actually make this day about reconciliation, so instead of fireworks and big events we get indigenous story time, music, and drone shows (not horrible, it's just not Canada Day celebrations if it's focused on only one group). So attendance dropped like a brick and they've started pulling back a bit but not much progress so far.

Instead of that, private businesses jumped on the opportunity and now host giant Canada Day festivals with fireworks, food, live music, etc. All the usual stuff, they then charge a few bucks admission and also get people down into their area spending money so it's benefits them as well as providing a good show for the people.

Unfortunately this year we have rain all day but a lot of stuff should still be going on despite that.

I been making bbq brisket since 5 am pst. Aloo gobi samosas with plum sauce for the dip. Cornbread,coleslaw Mac n cheese n chicken wings. Love this country.

Seems like the former for Kelowna. I was out driving doing some errands and there didn't seem to be a big showing. Unfortunate. I was looking forward to my first Canada day as a resident.

Now it's a little parade that completely shuts down the town thanks to the new route crossing every choke point... And since the fire department ran off everyone qualified.. no fireworks

I'm just outside of London Ontario. My town doesn't go too crazy, usually some venders and fireworks at the park. The same at a bunch of the smaller towns nearby.

All we got was a couple of food trucks and some bouncy castles in a truck… Last year we did have horse shows and some falconry, got disappointed to see they weren’t here this year.

I just came from the downtown area. Huge party at city hall, library, mall parking lot. Like 20 or 25 food trucks, everything with halal options.

Some musicians I’ve never heard of. Ambulance, portapotties, police on site. Splash pool. I’m not good at estimating, but it felt like thousands of ppl were there.

Montreal, I was at my MIL for a bbq because it’s also her bday. I know we didn’t have a parade this year. I don’t think there was anything going on.

Cranbrook BC who knows but there should be fireworks at about 11pm cause light until 10:30pm. Luckily I can see it from my house

Hamilton will be rocking down by the bay front and there will be plenty of local fireworks displays. Other than that, just a normal Monday.

So hard that most all the small towns in the area have stopped putting on a fireworks display because people complain their pets get scared. I do understand that pets are scared but dear god, the preemptive whining started months ago!

where i live in my little city starting at 5 we go to a field with everyone has the Canada flag everyone is wearing red and Canada stuff there is 135 thousand people in the town about 5 thousand go to this field it is so all out there is a ax throwing station a huge rock climbing wall and then at 10:00 there is a crazy impressive firework show that goes on till 11:00 it has so much and even after there are fireworks every wear from Monday night till Tuesday night there are fireworks there a a suprising amount in the day to.

Edmonton fireworks are the best anywhere

Surrey here. Currently sitting in the park down the street from where I live with 10s of thousands of people listening to Sass Jordan followed by The Sheepdogs and then fireworks. Every race, culture, gender, age here - having a blast. Happy Canada day folks.

My county in Nova Scotia does almost a full week of events leading up to the day including: ice cream socials, car shows, pageants etc. Culminates on Canada Day with concerts, the fair going full swing, a parade, barbeques and cap the day off with a fireworks show!

Keep in mind we are a semi rural county but there's like like 45k in total for the county population.

I live in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia and not that hard at all.

Mostly cancelled because of rain. Big focus on Every Child Matters with orange colours, and most of the events are just small community ones that really feel more like community event.

Personally I think that the day can be about recognizing the good in Canada, while also acknowledging the past and reflecting on how things can be made better going forward. It's ok to wear red, orange, display a maple leaf or better yet a combination of all those things. If you have an issue with one side or the other, go frig off.

My city ( Toronto ) doesn’t at all. It’s considered innappropriate to have Canadian Pride after the whole Indigenous child graves which turned out to be not real, but most people don’t know that the ones they have dug up turned out to be nothing. You will be verbally attacked by people for celebrating.

Calgary: only inmigrants and tourist give a fuck about this.
