I've had my island since launch, so I'm super attached to it. I've done literally everything, I have the dream island. There's nothing more for me to do, and I don't want to flatten the island and just redesign it, because that won't stop the itch. My island got me through really hard times, and I just am so attached to it... and yet I really want to restart my experience from scratch and just experience new things. I'm so proud to say that I've had my island since launch, I'm proud to display it on my passport. Does anyone else feel this way? They're so attached to what they have, but just want to restart because they're tired of just having this island on display that they're burnt out by?? Idk, it's a really specific experience, but I wanted to know if anyone else felt that way.
Does anyone else not want to restart their island, but feel burnt out?
Discussion/Conversation NOT FOR TRADE OR GAME MECHANICSAlmost considered buying a second switch, but realized there was no point lol. I wish Nintendo allowed multiple islands on one switch, but ofc they'd never haha. Glad to know that there are people who feel the same way.
If you’re REALLY stumped, it would help you, and it’s cheap enough, go for it. Otherwise I’d say wait until the next console 🤷🏾♀️
you can always try other animal crossing games. there’s a free emulator app on the app store where you can play DS games. i downloaded AC wild world. it’s fun to play other versions of the same game!
Yeah, I've been playing a ton of New Leaf!! Just miss New Horizons a bit and was considering getting back into it.
Do you play the emulator on the switch or your phone?
phone! it’s called delta!
Thank you!! :D
Do you know where I could find the rom for it by any chance? :’)
try emulatorgames.net and search for animal crossing.
You can always set a dream address and see your old island anytime you want after you restart.
Fr?? Never knew that I could do that. Ty, that actually helps a lot.
I second (Third? Fourth?) the second switch idea! I bought a switch lite just for my second island and it helped soooo much. Now I can have my Forever Island and my Experiement Islands that satisfy the itch! Suuper therapeutic! Plus I like the buttons on the switch lite. They're a different kind of clicky in a very satisfying way lol
I bought a second switch as well. They sell a switch lite with the animal crossing for free added in so you save about $60. I am glad I did that :)
Honestly considering it now that everyone's saying it! Do you have the Animal Crossing switch lite, since that comes pre downloaded with it? That's the one I would get, if I end up getting one. What's the lite like, anyhow? How different is it?
I wanted the Isabelle's Aloha Edition soo bad, but I couldn't justify the buy at the time 😭😭 she would've been my third switch and...yeah :( I will say though, only buy the AC editions brand new! Used ones most likely won't have the code with them anymore. I know Target no longer sells the Isabelle edition, but Walmart may still have the Timmy and Tommy edition. I hope you can get ahold of one! Oh! But! The biggest draw-back of the lite imo is there's no rumble feature. So every fish is a total surprise lol. But closing your eyes still works! The lite is still suuuper nice though. Its so compact, and smooth, and the buttons are kinda chunky, but in a good way? Ugh, I love it. Now, do I reccommend the lite as a primary switch? Nah. The screen and lack of switch-ability is a deal breaker on that front. But for a cozy game like a Animal Crossing, I think its perfect.
Thank you so much for your help! I actually did find the switch Isabelle edition online at Target still, so hopefully by the time I get around to actually buying it, it's still there! Hoping to get it sooner than later, budget permitting... Thank you again!
Omg what??? You found it?? I'm so happy and also jealous!!! Give her a good home and if you want keep us posted on what your new island will be like!
Check on the website, that's where I found it! Depends if it's just my area, though, not sure... If I end up getting it, I'll make a post! :D
sounds like you need a second switch. I nuke my island every 6 months or so so I can have fun designing something new
Sheesh, now that y'all are saying it, maybe. Not a bad idea to have a free island to mess with lol
honestly i’ve been playing everyday since december and i still come across things i want to tweak all around the island. ill walk past a waterfall and ponder changing it to a cave with vines. i switch out flowers with other kinds of flowers. harvesting fruit and veggies is always great for your bank. i find that spending everyday with it, there’s always SOMETHING to do
How do you make a cave?!?!
there’s a pretty large item that i found on a treasure island that resembles a cool lil cave:)
Wow that is cool! Treasure islands are chance when you do the turtle's island tours, right? Or is it chance from Nook Miles trips?
oh! i meant how youtube live’s will have treasure islands that you can travel through their dodo code. if you’re not familiar with it, id suggest looking up acnh treasure island and you’ll be able to find really neat worlds with lots of furniture and items
Cave??
I've also had mine since launch and never felt like restarting it. 🤝 Since I didn't play at all in 2021-2023, getting back now I had a lot to do going after the last update items...but I think I just reached that point when there's not much to do anymore. Thinking of getting the DLC, even though I don't enjoy decorating indoors much :)
Definitely get the DLC! It adds so much to the game, not just decorating indoors (though that is a cool feature). The whole experience is so cute, would def recommend.
get the DLC! you wont regret it.
Can you show us your island? If you dont mind it seems wonderful
I unfortunately don't have online, so I don't have a dream address to share, but I was planning on getting it later anyway. When I get it, I'd be happy to share it!
I bought a second switch which was a switch lite acnh Isabelle special addition with the game downloaded. Target sells it :)
Same! i was gifted the game and switch during covid so it literally saved me! When I refused to restart, I came into some money and bought the second switch and loved my new island, also you can drop things to each one so, if you DO restart you have a ton of storage on that second island. Anyway, I did up restarting both switches lol. The burn out is normal. I also play fae farm and DDLV which helped me. Good luck!
yes but I can't because I love Dom and refuse to let him go
This! I love my Sherb, Blue Bear, Agnes, and Shino!!! I only just got Blue Bear - and that was such a "Finally!" moment.
Felt! That's how I am with my villagers!
Can’t you just create a different profile on your switch. With a new email. My kids and I use to share a switch and my daughter and I had different islands.
I put it down for about 2 years, picked it up a couple months ago and now I’m having fun again. I still have 1-2 creatures in each category to catch to complete my museum, but I’ve caught a lot since picking back up. I just got a five star island the other day so that’s another thing off my bucket list. Now I’m on a quest to get my fave villagers’ photos. Before I stopped playing I had 1 (plus NPCs like Brewster, HHP staff, Jingle). Now I have 4. I’m focused now on getting rid of villagers I don’t care for and acquiring new villagers based on theme (I like multiples of the same animal). I have almost 3 million bells and 35,000 NMTs which makes having fun easier.
All that to say, trying putting it down for a while and coming back fresh.
EDIT: oh, and I have 2 more gyroids to collect before I have all 36. They’re on the wall in my basement, but after completing the collection I’ll probably keep them in storage after taking a picture.
I'm actually in the same boat as you. After some trial and error I found that changing up my villagers helped because they brought something new to the island. Now I'm getting to know some new critters while I work for their photos c:
I still have some I'll never part with (pros of spoofing amiibo), but I had to say goodbye to some villagers who have been there since close to the beginning. It was hard, but the new faces breathe new life into the game c:
Honestly considering that too. There's still a ton to do, like filling up the museums, getting DIYs, getting photos (although I have a ton), etc. It's either that or getting another switch haha, might even do both. Thanks for the idea!
Of course! Filling up the museum is an excellent idea as well! It sounds a little morbid, but I still have my moved villagers on my island via their face on a signpost in a graveyard 😅
I felt this. Ended up buying a second switch for a third party for cheap. Ultimately I ended up erasing my island, but was glad I had that pressure removed and scratched the itch. Best advice would be to put ACNH down for awhile and come back. If you don’t want to redo parts of your island, come back another day.
