I have this heavy box with clothes and shoes (mostly for men, they're in good shape and I'd use them if I didn't put on so much weight) and a few other random home things (e.g., dinnerware set, old 24" computer screens). What's your go-to place for donations? Ideally a place that will make a good use of it and doesn't mind going through a big box with random stuff :)
Downsizing after moving into new apt: where do you folks donate random stuff?
QuestionIs that so! I just went through all my daughter’s clothes and have a whole heap of gently used baby-toddler clothes. Do you know if they would be accepted?
I believe so! Families staying at the shelter also get items that people donate, so I'm sure there are some families who could use baby and toddler stuff.
I use my local buy nothing groups, found on Facebook! There’s always folks in need.
A barking chance animal rescue is looking to do a garage sale with some donated items. They'd love your items for sure. (505) 750-0095 and http://abarkingchanceanimalrescue.org
Locker 505 take in random stuff too. They help out underprivileged kids and help them setup in fall, spring and summer.
I always donate to assistance leage on lomas west of San Mateo across from Clark's pet store/sprouts they assist seniors on fixed incomes
Animal Humane has a great thrift shop
I think the Menaul location closed
I believe it reopened just down the street (on Menaul) where Big Lots used to be.
Ooh I’ll check it out, thanks for the tip
I take mine to savers and they give you a 20% off coupon
If you still have the clothes, please take them to the Truman Center. Donation places always get more women’s than men’s clothes. They can use it for clients.
Join the Buy Nothing group for your neighborhood, people will usually pick them up.
For more valuable items I usually sell them cheap on FB marketplace-way under value so I can get rid of them fast.
Ditto to Buy Nothing. I lived on the third floor at my last place and people on that group were happy to come up to get all the stuff I was getting rid of.
I go to what’s close by for me. It happens to be Goodwill. They always are grateful For my drop offs and I get a good feeling of having less stuff cluttering my closets and helping my community.
Goodwill usually for me
Your neighborhood's buy nothing group is always a great option. You can just post "box of men's clothes sizes x, y, z, please take all" and someone will likely come get them straight from your porch.
Savers is always a good place to donate :)
There are a lot of local buy nothing groups. They are divided by areas of town.
Vietnam Veterans
Good Will has large donation centers across Albuquerque. I would go to their website and call them to find out the hours. They even have certain locations where you just drive up to the side and someone helps load everything into a cart and then you can just drive off. It’s super easy!
APS has a donation program. They accept clothes for all ages. In addition to helping the students APS is seeking to help families as well.
At the random stuff place. I thought everybody knew that.
Savers for me. They give 20% off coupon
Savers, Goodwill, Habitat for Humanities, almost any church, Joy Junction, any homeless person on the street, any homeless shelter. There are tons of places.
Please try the local Buy Nothing group on Facebook!
If you donate to big stores like Goodwill and Savers nobody will really buy them because of how unreasonably they price items and then they end up throwing it out.
People buy from ALL sorts of thrift stores including Goodwill and Savers.
That's not my point at all lmfao
Goodwill and Savers are overflowing with items because they price items too high for basic shit. If people were readily buying from them the racks wouldn't be filled. People also donate broken and dirty items that Goodwill/Savers/big name stores don't sort, which most people will not buy.

Thriftique is holding special hours today and taking donations. Proceeds go to S.A.F.E. House, a local domestic violence shelter.
