Why China became more popular than US in Africa
News & politics from AfricaBcse they actually builds infrastructures and get things done. Soft power not military power.
I'm surprised the horrific videos of them assaulting residents didn't do much to their popularity or people's perspection.
You know when ppl live in extreme despair for so long even a bag of rice from their abuser is a salvation.
I guess the saying, "beggars can't be choosers" rings true.
That was a fake video with no source. After it was mass posted mods from WNV and Noah get the boat both deleted it.
There are many unreported and numerous instances of such cases.
The article fails to consider that the EU works I collaboration with the US while China is alone. Underscores their need for US vs THEM narrative.
Africa needs a few parts, some kind of universal passport, a coordinatined transportation system, manufacturing and industrialization. (Probably even redrawing borders of colonialism idk)
Major transportation to major cities across regions from resource to industrialized places.
I'm pretty sure Africa, and even some current African states can be self sufficient.
I believe not. The world is global; we need the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the South to grow as a continent. Isolationism will never be a solution. However, your proposals are valid. It is ridiculous that, in some cases, it's much easier to travel to Europe than it is to African countries.
I didn't say Africa need to be or the goal is to be isolated. I'm nearly stating the fact that just like north America and somewhat south America Africa is another continent that could be almost completely independent agricultural, economically, and structurally (roads, gov, civics). I e Africa more than likely has enough natural resource and land for food to have a closed door policy have a socioeconomic revolution and not suffer the same way China did. When I'm saying africa west, central, South and east Africa maybe north Africa as well.
And I think each part should have there own region like Confederacy or union, and development efforts should work on one region at a time.
Similar to how America expelanded east to west over time.
The outside sources that africa would need from the global economy would probably some technology or information that was able to develop in other countries due to the exploitation of Africa. Industrialization occur3d through Africa's exploitation.
So basically all education and knowledge and advancements are owed to Africa. Had it not been for Africa Europe wouldn't have its "universal" Healthcare.
The issue is that alot of that technology and information won't directly work for Africa because the landscape is different the landscape is different the soil is different.
The type of concrete that works in Estonia isn't going to be the same that works in Namibia, same as steel structures, planting practices etc.
Not surprised. We’re talking about the same people that were in love with the Soviet Union and communism. It may be a new generation of Africans but they are just as gullible. By the time the African continent wakes up it will be a waste land and and completely destroyed. China doesn’t look after its environment. Why would be looking after the African environment?
Yeah, ppl liked the Soviet Union. You know... Because they supported anti-colonial fighters. Or maybe it was their respect for each country's autonomy. Or because other underdeveloped countries saw the Soviet Union rise from (relative) underdevelopment to the 2nd largest economy in the world in 2-3 decades and wanted the same results.
China is doing only the last of those but yes, there are good reasons to like China. Even though a policy of keeping them at closer than the USA/EU but still at arm's length (if not even farther away) would likely be best .
More popular? If speaking in terms of a cheaper workforce and/or poor investment choices from leaders, then yes, China is more popular.
But when it comes to products, especially quality, China is absolutely not more popular. No matter where you go around the globe, everyone knows how cheaply Chinese products are made, and their things fall apart and break easily. SOME of their infrastructure is good, but when it comes to foreign investment, corners are cut far too often, undercutting safety standards, and most of all, predatory loan terms are put into place in an attempt to financially enslave said investment countries.
More popular in general? Sure. For good reasons? Absolutely not.
The sentiments differ from place to place here in Kenya. A popular MCA was charged with hate speech when he demanded Chinese people be deported. In terms of quality, they do have substandard quality compared to the EU, the US, or Japan, but compared to African states, their quality can be seen as an advantage since they can create better-quality goods compared to us. That's the advantage they have. They dish out loans, and they don't care how they're spent; all they care for is their repayment. The IMF and the World Bank place extreme emphasis on the country's human rights record and the usage of its funds; thus, dictatorships that are widely the form of leadership in Africa will not take such loans or find them useful. China's taking advantage of that.
