Holy f... How do y.. HOW!
They show you the design. They show you the stencil. They show you the stencil on your skin. They ask you to check the spelling.
The number of failures that had to happen in this process is astounding.
I got a d20 on my forearm, and I checked that the numbers were all in the right place four times.
Isn’t this like, the first step they pound into your head in art school, even?
I know tattoo artists are one of the lower bars of entry for making a profit off your art (in that you don’t have to be an amazing artist to do it), but I’d figure any tattoo shop would at least make sure their artist knows that much? Or at least include it as a side instruction with the machine?
As someone who tattooed on the side for money while in art school, the school itself doesn’t teach you anything about tattooing. That’s what an apprenticeship is for. And even shitty tattoo artists can make good money because sadly a LOT of people don’t give a shit. I did the human centipede around some dudes ankle for a few hundred 😂
I'd order you the same and then some would I know who you are, you'd Cronenberg, Carpenter, and Geiger my whole leg.
Oh shit, that sounds awesome! Damn where were you during my apprenticeship?? 😭
The I is on the same angle as the first letters. This looks photoshopped.
Looking at that cross…yeah it’s probably ‘shopped.
Two of my tattoos have lettering in them and I had them both drafted myself and gave them to the artist who directly translated that to a stencil through a scanner.
It's possible he allowed the artist to freehand, but with how stylistically unstyled this is, it seems like this was stenciled. This is definitely on the tattooee, not the artist.
Although the artist definitely could have been less dumb lol.
My assumption is that this is an English tattoo in a non-English speaking country like Russia or Japan.
That’s sweet of you. I assume it’s just a dumb American.
Are you postivite?
Both failed a perception check.
Literally I have an entire sentence on my arm (check post hx if curious) and I checked that shit like 17x before I let them ink it onto me. HOW tf did OOP let this happen???
Well just consider the content. I can't say I'm surprised personally.
I know, same here How is this possivitible?
I feel like this has to be fake right??
Didn't be so negitave!
I'm almost Postivite that they didn't think this through.
Postivite at least sounds cooler.
Same way people might get pregante?
Lol you don't know how to spell perganet /s
How do I Pregergante!?
Or have no ragrets?
I think it's intentional. Think positively about mistakes. If it wasn't intentional, I hope it is now.
*think postivitely
Perhaps; your post has really given me something to thimk about.
Tattoo artistry doesn’t attract a lot of English Majors apparently.
Thru christ anything is possible
the fact that "think" is spelled correctly and so elegantly and then they just massacred the next word lol
Dyslexia…
Through the power of Christ, all things are posisible.
Nothing about this is great execution.
Some would definitely call the ✝ a fairly successful execution.
Not that successful, it didn't take.
It doesn't fit the sub, but I'm conflicted because of how genuinely thrilled I am to have seen this fuckup. Am I the problem?
It fits the tattoo. Think positive on how you got butchered in the parlour. I think it's a happy little accident.
It looks frickin nice... If you don't understand English
👆This guy has a kanji that says wantons.
Jokes on you, I picked it because it says wontons. That shit’s delicious
the photoshop was good enough to fool a lot of people, I'd say that's good execution.
Happy Cake Day! 🎂
Happy Cake Day, Friend
It might be Photoshop, but the edges of the letters are incredibly clean and the weights of the serif script is impeccable.
It's a shitty tattoo, but the execution of actually writing the letters is perfect to the point where I think it's legit just Photoshop.
For context, I'm a calligrapher who does lettering like this as a hobby
*It's the think that counts

Leviticus 19:28, “You shall not make gashes in your flesh for the dead, or incise any marks on yourselves.”
See you in hell.
Leviticus 19:27, Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.
I just wanna make sure you have never cut your hair or trimmed your beard before you start judging tattoos...
I'm confused as to why anyone would have made that rule at all. What negative effects does cutting your hair or beard have? Was it the style of the "bad people" at the time?
I think it had to do with vanity. But i can’t help but think the ugly guys in power wanted to make the competition less appealing.
I've had hair down to my hips and the hours I spent washing and drying and styling it was an exercise in vanity. Cutting it off was the opposite.
Old testament is filled with odd rules that applied to the people at that time. Not much of it is of any value right now. Women who had their period were considered "not clean" for 7 days (I think) and anything they touched had to be cleaned up. Men were not allowed to sit on the same chair those women would sit on etc. If you think about it it was probably their way to maintain hygiene. That is probably why they made the updated version called the new testament and basically said "yeah the old rules don't apply anymore". Funnily enough since the entire bible is considered a holy word from god, it gets really tricky deciding which old rules apply and which don't. The decalogue applies obviously, but at the same time it's from the same part of the bible that talks about these impure stuff like period or ejaculate.
Don’t worry about Leviticus anymore…well, except for the homophobic stuff. That’s important!
I've looked into this as best as I can, and as far as I know, there's not a definitive answer. But there's a part in the Old Testament that's sometimes translated as something like "stay away from the people who cut their hair at the temples," which from context would probably be one of the local peoples—possibly Bedouins/Arabs. In which case, this really could be as simple as "don't look like the bad outsiders, look like the good holy normal people."
No one is certain, but the most plausible I've heard is that there was an implied context of grieving. You weren't supposed to make a big change like that so that you're marked by the grief and everyone sees it coming with you.
Me? I'm bald, bearded and two linked sleeve tattoos via chest piece.
Not my religion....
Corinthians 11:14, Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him
So the style we are going for is short hair with armpit length sideburns?
I think it's a mullet actually...
Someone has absolutely had that tattooed on them, lol.
I think that's more scarification than tattooing? IDK if God thinks there's a difference, someone ask him rq
That’s the best part about verses like these, it’s about whatever you want it to be about. Verses like these were written so many thousands of years ago that the translations we’ve wound up with are vague enough to mean whatever you want.
You can reasonably interpret that as: - scarification - self harm - tattoos
Or, if you’re Christian, you can decide to take the verse or leave it as it’s Old Testament and that only matters when you want it to.
Verses that only matter when you want them to seems to be the norm for religious people, lol.
I have some religious trauma and I wanna get this tattooed in very tiny text somewhere discrete as a personal joke.
Wish you all the best on working on tha trauma. Ive worked with people effected by it and they get good results but it takes time.
Thankyou! I've had quite a while to work through it and I'm most of the way out. I spend a decade processing and healing, and then I took a hard swing in the 'Angry Atheist Who Hates All Religion' direction for a while. Then I had to sit down and ponder on that and cooled way down.
Right now I have some religious friends who are kind and supportive and just good people, and I still have to sometimes tamp down some unwarranted 'God isn't real' shit because my brain wants to project my Evangelical Trauma onto them. I've gone to church with them a couple times for immersion therapy and it's actually kinda working lol
Why are people upvoting this have they forgotten the BGE part?
It wouldn't fit in GTBAE either. Best would be badtattoos
I thought this was from r/shittytattoos

Well, Jesus covers a multitude of sins.
Let’s hope a tattoo artist can, too.
I don't think Postivites believe in Jesus.

“Post Ivite” sounds like some slang for after someone invites you someone via an Apple product.
It's Latin for, "after you sober up and reconsider your life choices".
I keep reading it “pahst-ivh-ite” because I know the meant positive, but I know it’s spelled wrong so I’m starting with the same pos in positive. So to me it sounds like either an invitation sent on pasta, or a pasta party invitation.
I’m pro-pasta party.
Petition to call modern evangelical Christians "Postivites"
When you think about shipping, think Postivite!®
Was the tattoo artist equally dyslexic?
Yeah wtf
You'd think someone dyslexic would ask friends or family to check first. The trees aren't terrible though.
It makes more sense when you see that he's got "no regrats" on his shoulder.

When Wyatt sent his mom the picture, she pointed out that her dyslexic son may have made a mistake with the spelling, as he was trying to get a tattoo that said: "Think positive."
Gotta be fake or AI or something. They couldn't have fucked up the spelling THAT bad...
That is Positively a symbol of the Post Ivites.
I thought they were extinguished centuries ago.
calm down guys its Italian.
Might have a few ragrets about that one
Dyslexics untie!
I think he didn't postulate that you must double check the spelling of the permanent phrase about to be etched into you.
Gezuz!!

Dyslexics of the world UNTIE !!!
Funny but wrong sub
The real fuckup is on the artist. How did they not correct it? Though I guess the kid could have at least mentioned his was dyslexic and asked to make sure.
Think postiviteLY
The right letters in the wrong location
Haha, it's a little bit worse than that. There are only 8 letters in "positive." Unless that cross isn't supposed to represent a "t", which would add a whole new level of stupid to this tattoo.
This can’t have been done in an English speaking country
We all need to think postivite
The message is strong on this one .
I like the spoke he has.
If only there was a letter that looked like a cross 🤔
is an ivite like an evite?
Stay in school, kids!
This ain't great execution boss 💀
Postivite... is that some new post Malone centered religion or something?
Shoulda thought twice
If you are going to add an extra t why not make it a cross too /s
It's "positivité" in French
Where’s the “great execution” part?
Postivite sounds like some kind of breakfast drink.
Please be postivite. He's trying.
Ironic, considering no one seemed to have thought this one out
Maybe it’s Latin? Lol. Sounds like posta vita. 😂
This can't be real. Jesus wouldn't allow this. Under his eye
how is this GE with that spelling error on a tattoo
It’s the Tuoght that cuonts
I had to think about that for a long while before coming to the conclusion that they meant to say "positive". Holy shit, I think that's the worst misspelling of a word I've ever seen.
I wonder if he has any ragrets. Like any at all.

The Tatoo dude must have been smoking dope before he did that.

Add an accent on the e and it’ll be French. Easy.
Holy shit, at first glance I just saw "positive" misspelled and immediately assumed that it was HIV related.
At least they don't have to look at it.
They could add "like a" under the word think, and just pretend it's a name for some people...you know the Postivites? Think like one of them!
