Why Are Ark Players Okay With Such Forceful Micro Transactions in Their Game?
ASAI think people are ok with it because their original plan was to have people pay for all the DLCs again, things that they already owned. At least this way we’re getting new content, and it’s optional, they’re not forcing us to buy the things we already owned and enjoyed. If you don’t want them, it doesn’t really affect the gameplay that bad, if you do that’s great
The original plan was for ascended to be a free upgrade on survival evolved from unreal 4 to unreal 5
That original plan made zero sense as virtually all remasters ever done had a standard retail price tag. WC needs to fund Ark 2, and with the massive backlash they got from Ark 2 first look, they probably had to do a ton of rework.
None of this is cheap, and WC having Snail Games back them puts a bad taste in my mouth, but I understand why they’re charging for optional DLC content.0
I got Skyrim Special Edition for free, auto-added to my Steam account, because I had Old Skyrim+all DLCs in my library already.
There is precedent for this.
Yup, got gta 5 upgrade for only 5 bucks since I owned the previous one. I would have been fine with a small payment for upgrade, but nope. It cost more than I orginally paid for the beta of Ark. I look at ASA as exactly as it is, "paying for optimizations." Now if they can only fix the problems.
Yes, and precedent going the other way.
Also not sure if it’s good to compare Bethesda to WC- WC is in a bad spot financially due to Snail Games management.
Right? Like how do people expect to get the other 9 maps over multiple years without paying anyone? Like I get not wanting to have to shift to the remaster, but if you do want too, people have to be paid for their work.
Problem is that they never finished ASE. It would have made sense as a update
I mean for us, sure. But as far as technical limitations for wild card? Doubt it.
I know ASA is ASE ported to UE5, but that doesn’t mean it was like converting an .mp4 to an .mp5. That shit takes an insane amount of work, which people don’t do for free.
They still lied over and over again. While selling you an unfinished product that will never be finished.
I think lying and missing targets are two different things, but hey, if you’ve never worked in business I don’t expect you to understand.
with the amount of bitching about asa graphics requirements, i don't think a simple update would have gone over too well.
It doesnt change what they promised and didnt deliver
This is WC we’re talking about. They are the definition of over promise and under deliver. If you took that at face value, well, I don’t know what game you’ve been playing but it hasn’t been ASE if you didn’t expect them to flop on this.
No its just i didnt ever drop my standards from what i expect from people. Expecting people to keep their word and deliver isnt some "grand ideal" its like the basics for being a regular human being
