I’m going to sleep for the night I’ll continue answering tomorrow throughout the day so keep the questions rolling in. I’ve had some really interesting conversations I’m glad I made this post.
I’m driving home from college because my semester just ended. I recently quit vaping a couple weeks ago so I understand what you’re going through. I started when I was 13 and I’m currently 19. You got any tips to never relapse? For me, I’ve been focusing on eating or doing something to take my mind off of it every time I get cravings. But this obviously isn’t sustainable.
I've just been taking it 1 day at a time.. and avoiding gas stations! So far so good, just focusing on the new life that I'm gaining & not focusing on what I'm "giving up".. altho we're giving up nothing, we're escaping big tobacco's grip on our lives! Congrats to you for quiting vaping!
How do you feel about plushies?
Iv never owned a plushie personally, but I think it’s a green flag. And very comfy. Looking through your profile, I get the feeling you’re a very gentle and kind person. I’ve never seen somebody make a Reddit post asking if a strangers dog was ok, or somebody so concerned about a worm lol. My question to you is, if you were given the opportunity to open any kind of charity or non profit organization, what would it be and why?
Hmm, that’s a hard question… i think I’d like some sort of therapy animal service without commitment — like, a place where you could just stop in and hang out with a dog… maybe because my family doesn’t like pets and I really want one lol
That’s a good answer, my family is the same way but in another couple months I’ll have my own apartment and will be able to get whatever pets I want. When you’re able to, what’s the first pet you’re gonna get?
There’s a stray around the corner who I love a lot, it would be nice to take him in… otherwise, I’m not sure. I like cats but I’m very scared of scratches and bites.
I’m planning on getting a cat personally, they can definitely do some damage but there’s no love without pain or so I hear.
I suppose… I have nightmares constantly about getting attacked by animals so I guess im probably not ready for anything other than a very fluffy friendly cat lol
What kind of animals attack you in your dreams? Is that from some sort of trauma or is it completely random?
Various wild animals… mountain lions or birds of prey or wolves… it could be a metaphor for something but honestly I started getting them after an accident with the cat around the corner, where his claw got stuck in my hand. He didn’t mean to, I don’t blame him at all — but his claw went deep in the muscle and the sensation made me feel nauseous and panicked, similar to my reaction when I get a shot.
Kk
Ok. A lot to unpack here. Firstly, what was your favorite and least favorite part of sex work? Secondly, if you could change your sexuality to whatever you want, what would you choose?
The attention is my favorite
My least favorite is you get put in a lot of dangerous situations and it's really stressful
I'd probably change it to being bi, twice the dating pool lol
How is your 9 hour car ride going?
Good, finally checked into a hotel for the night. Five more hours to go tomorrow. Also, the best question I can come up with is what goes through your head when you make your posts? Most of your posts seem like complete nonsense to me tbh.
I mostly post in comedy subs for amusing answers. I'll make a real post someday (like the trueoffmychest post I'm working on).
Whats your Favorite meal?
Escargot is probably my favorite meal. If you haven’t tried it you’re missing out. With that being said, having a child at 20 is a crazy concept to me. I’m 19 and have never had any actually serious relationships. Is there any part of you that regrets your decisions to become such a young mom, or have you never looked back? What’s your favorite part about being a parent? Least favorite?
Wow ive actually never tried that!
I get having a kid so young is definitely not for everyone but I dont regret it at all i love being a mom i even enjoyed the newborn phase but My favorite part is watching him learn and teaching new things
Least favorite is not being able to even pee by myself😂
lol, just out of curiosity, what do you believe the best parenting style is? To be laid back and let your child explore things on their own or to be very strict and involved with what they do? Also, what rules, if any, are you going to put on videogames in the future? (If your child ends up liking videogames)
Well i do a little of both . Hes 1.5 years old So we do activities together like cooking/baking, story time, playtime with toys, painting, exploring outside.
But i also give him space to explore his toys in his room or figure out a new activity.
As far as video games, his dads is a big gamer himself so i’d def let him play in the future, i know thats something they’d probably start together then if my son likes it he can play on his own. Only rule would be as long as its not all day or hours on end if you know what i mean!
What’s your favorite color?
My favorite color is purple because I think it’s the rarest color that I see the least, so when I do see it, I appreciate it. So I gotta ask dude… why you lookin for horror movies with paraplegic characters? Though now that I think about it, that would be a little funny.
That’s crazy purples my favorite too. I frequently ask for various horror movie recommendations. And I have an interest in spinal injuries. I find researching them fascinating and I just wanted to see you a horror movie that touched on the subject. I actually watched a lot of those that were recommended. My favorite was monkey shine.
That’s very interesting, what started your fascination with spinal injury? Do you have a spinal injury? Also I’ve never been a huge horror fan, but do you have any recommendations that aren’t TOO scary?
I had a brain injury. I had to learn how to walk Again and while doing so I met many people with spinal injuries. I just watched a great movie that I would consider a good intro horror. The prodigy(2019.) Psychological horror that is very light on the Gore.
I’ll check it out. Not horror, but I have a movie recommendation for you. It’s called David Holmes: The Boy who Lived. About a stunt double who got a spinal injury during the filming of Harry Potter.
Oh, I think I’ve heard about that. I’ll definitely check it out. Thank you.
What are you studying?
I’m going for a degree in accounting, I want to be a forensic accountant one day. It’s a little tough to come up with a good question when you don’t have posts, so I’ll just ask this: how do you think humanity is going to go extinct?
I think that we will slowly start to depopulate due to healthcare not being available (high costs). My son had to have surgery - we have insurance - but the out of pocket so still extremely high. Of course we are paying, but I imagine a lot of people are not getting needed medical treatment or meds because they cannot afford it. In my opinion, healthcare and insurance should not be for profit. They have both become a scam in the US.
Yes, this is the most likely answer. I think we will eventually hit a peak of population that can be sustained on earth. Then, due to limited resources this will start wars and eventually we will wipe ourselves out with nuclear weapons. Climate change is also getting scary.
Your posts are funny 😂
What is your fave conspiracy theory?
Firstly, thanks for the compliment I will ride the high for the next four years. Secondly, my favorite conspiracy is that Binance, a crypto exchange platform, is committing fraud in the exact same way that ftx committed fraud and a lot of people are going to lose their money sometime soon. There was a really good video essay I watched on YouTube about ftx called The Fake Genius: a $30 billion fraud. Highly recommended. Secondly, why were you shopping on aliexpress and did you end up recovering your money or getting your order? Im curious because at one point I thought about doing drop shipping a couple years ago. Never went through with it though.
Interesting idea, I like it! Whats been the weirdest or most memorable conversation youve had from doing these?
I’ve been waiting for this question. I’ve had a ton of interesting conversations with a large variety of people. From a guy who was a gay sex worker from 14-22 telling me about how he got kidnapped to talking to a 20 year old mom about how to be a good parent, it’s been a lot of fun. Firstly, I’ve never seen somebody with over 200,000 karma I respect the grind. Secondly, I saw your posts about art, you are very talented. But you haven’t posted anything art related in 40 days, did you lose interest or are you just working on something big?
Aw man, thats very rough for that guy... Thanks!! Neither, just havent been posting haha
Have you ever been in love? If so, what’s the story? If not, was there one that got away?
Well, they’ve all gotten away lol. In all seriousness, I wouldn’t say Iv fallen in love yet, I’m only 19 and I haven’t even really thought about entering a serious relationship until I become a millionaire or quit trying. Looking through your profile though, I noticed you’re a nurse. My mom is also a nurse so I’ll ask you the same question I ask my mom every day after work. Who was your craziest patient? My mom’s best answer is a homeless guy who got arrested for selling/cooking meth in a McDonald’s bathroom about 4 hours after getting released.
Wait I just realized that was a post you commented on. I thought you posted it. Let me know if your not actually a nurse and I’ll give you a new question
Aha thank you for the response, I’m sorry if I commented on the wrong thing! I am not a nurse, that must have been someone else.
Ok sorry, you commented on a post about a weekly gift somebody got as a nurse, but I thought you were the one that posted it. New question: I see you are very interested in 3d printing. What are some creative ways to turn it into a business and make money? Have you had any success in the field?
No worries! And great question actually. If I were to start a business surrounding 3D printing I would probably start some sort of media business like a newsletter and sell informational products surrounding learning how to do it, rather than printing and selling actual physical products. That’s mostly because the products printers produce are often niche and large scale production is difficult. But categorically all kinds of people are interested in 3D printing in different niches so I’d try to appeal to all of them with and drive traffic via free media that I then monetize with digital products. I’d also become an affiliate for my favorite 3D printer companies and get commissions on that. You could apply this business model to lots of different things though.
That’s very interesting. I have an idea for you. Set up vending machines filled with different 3d printed things around tourist spots. I’m sure a lot of people would buy key chains or other small things to remember their experiences during vacations. And the profit margins could realistically be very high.
I have a childhood memory from 5th grade. I was playing a game of lacrosse against my team’s rivals and the score was 2-2 with 3 seconds left. I had the ball at half field and just chucked it as hard as I could and it hit a patch of grass and bounced unpredictably and I scored. My entire team rushed the field and tackled me lol. Thanks for making me remember that. Anyways, after receiving about 1,500 comments about how the world is most likely going to end, what was the most convincing answer you got?
Do you always have such interesting ideas? bc this is one of favorite AMAs ever.
Really? I’m glad to hear it. My thought process was that people like talking about themselves, and I like learning about other people so this post is a win-win. So, looking through your comment history I saw an interesting post about you calling the police on a person with a knife in public next to their child. I’m curious, can you go into more detail? Where they taking their child hostage or what happened?
yes, it’s a very cool idea and the thread has been so interesting to read!
so a few weekends ago, i took my son to the pool, which is adjacent to our apartment building. as we were walking to the gate we passed a man, woman, and child standing between the pool (outside of the fence) and our building. the energy felt intense - none of them were speaking or moving, and the woman appeared nervous.
once we were inside the pool area, i walked right over to the corner they were near and sat down such that i could watch my son and also observe them.
shortly after, they moved to another spot, this time near the entrance gate, so i moved too but this time sat facing them. soon as i did the woman asked me for help. i dialed 911 and then stood between them and him while they got into the pool area.
she had a steak knife in her hand as it was all she could find to grab for defense as she got herself and child out the front door. it was covered with her sleeve, which also concealed countless bruises. two days before this he had taken her keys and phone, prevented them from leaving home, and for 36hrs straight had been verbally/physically abusing her. she hadn’t even slept.
it took two 911 calls and 45 min before an officer arrived. it did end in his arrest but he was released on bail a day later. the PD did not assist her in obtaining a protective or restraining order, or even trespass him from the property, so he has been showing up every few days since.
if you get bored and would like some cheap entertainment, feel free to read thru my comment history. i have bipolar disorder, amongst many other diagnoses, so i imagine it might be an interesting exercise. 😬😅
That’s so sad, but I’m glad you noticed. I feel like many people wouldn’t pick up on it or just not care enough to investigate. Reading things like these make me want to become a politician, climb the ladder, then raise the bar to become a cop. I’ve definitely met very good cops, but also many bad ones.
it bothers me that not enough people notice and intervene. there were at least 8 other adults at the pool when i arrived, and this poor lady and her daughter had been standing nearby for some time before i even got there. a CHILD at the pool had noticed and called 911 for her before about 20min before i got there and still no adults intervened.
that being said, i picked up on it quickly bc i have been her. two days before this was my most recent encounter with my ex in which i had to call 911 for myself. so i think i just recognize it pretty quickly from being in it so many times.
and i think many people don’t pick up on more subtle situations, but also they’re just pussies, like the ones who let a child call 911 then went on playing in the pool and visiting while it continued 20ft away.
and i suppose some just may not know what to do? but fuck, do something. that guy took off as soon as i stood between him and them — and i’m only 5’4”, overweight, and probable ~25yrs his senior (but i can look like a mad-crazy bitch when i need to 😂).
point is it doesn’t take much, even a little interference goes a long way. and it can sometimes make all the difference. it sucks to be her and have everyone around you avert their gaze, sometimes even knowing damn well what’s happening.
This definitely takes the cake for most badass response. Goes to show how much of a coward those kind of people are. Now I’m wondering if I’ve ever been the oblivious person without realizing it.
haha, tks! i consider badass to be a top notch compliment. :) just the fact that you’re becoming aware and thoughtful of the issue will set you up to notice things more and will give you courage to step-up when you do.
whats your biggest pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve is when people back seat things that I’m doing. My dad, for example, is a huge back seat driver. Every time I’m about to turn or merge lanes he always feels the need to remind me to use my turn signals even though I do every time. My question for you is: what are the up sides of bpd? I hear a lot of the downsides but I’m curious as to whether or not it has any advantages? Also… are you ok? That accident looks pretty serious
yes that is annoying! like shut up & let whoever is driving drive(unless they’re driving crazy😭).
to answer ur question: to be honest its hard to find the positives to having BPD but i do like the fact that i am extremely empathetic :)
the crash: so that happened two weeks ago & i had gotten a bad bruise on my stomach that hurt for a few days but that doesn’t bother me anymore & i messed up my right wrist/hand bad enough. its only been 2 weeks and i know i sprained it bad enough but it hurts to put pressure and write with it still. wanna know something funny? when i got out the car and looked down at the floor i thought that was blood and started freaking out but it was red fluid coming out at the car😭😭😭😭😭 these nice dudes had to calm me down.
Damn, I’ve never been in an accident personally, but one of my best friends got hit by a drunk driver. Thankfully he was ok and so was his family who was in the car with him. But he called me right after he got out of the car and I remember the panic I felt. Unfortunately the drunk driver passed away on the scene. Just wondering, what caused the accident?
how bad was the accident if that drunk driver died? and thats so rare to hear the drunk driver die. but i am glad ur friend & his family is doing well. and he caused the accident. so glad i had multiple witnesses by my side.
This happened over 6 years ago so I don’t entirely remember the exact trajectory but the drunk driver’s car was flipped over, and the front area of my friend’s car by the engine was totaled. Also I drove about three hours today with my dad in the passenger seat, I almost tore the steering wheel off.
😭😭😭😭😭😭 why is he that way
Bro when he was driving he was going 40 in a 60 and I watched trucks change lanes to get in front of him. And then every time we saw somebody do something crazy he would say “I use to be like that, trust me, but as you get older you learn the value in patience” or some bs💀💀💀
if trucks are passing him thats his sign😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 but are u like learning to drive?? is that why hes always with you ?
No I’ve been driving for over 3 years and have never been in accidents. I have driven across the country doing the exact same drive with him to and from my college twice now. He grew up in a bad neighborhood and I think he developed a little anxiety from it. Also, to give him credit, between the written and physical driving test, I failed 5 times 💀💀💀
Are you still in college? What’s your favorite part?
Yeah I go to USF and I’m getting an accounting degree. My favorite part so far has been the freedom. It’s the first time in my life not living with my parents so I’ve been enjoying being able to essentially do what I want when I want. So, what did you end up naming your son? I saw some very… interesting suggestions under your post.
Hell yeah, that’s the best. He’s not here yet, but we’re going with Elliott. I like different or unique names, but my daughter got one and I didn’t wanna double down and make it weird lol
I like the name Elliott, what kind of nicknames are you gonna use, if any? And also, now I’m curious, what’s your daughter’s name?
Probably El, or Eli but I’m sure something totally different will come organically. My daughter’s name is Éowyn but I mostly call her bean or some variation of it.
Have you ever watched How To With John Wilson?
If not, I would highly recommend season 1, Episode 6: How To Make The Perfect Risotto, Season 2, Episode 2: How To Appreciate Wine, and basically the rest of the series, because the finale is perfect.
If you HAVE seen it, what were your thoughts?
I’ve never heard of it, what’s it about and what is it on?
It is on Max (read: HBO) and uh… it’s a documentarian who sorta just asks questions and lets the story take him wherever. He has worked with Nathan Fielder, so it’s a very similar vibe but with a really fascinating sincerity that Fielder’s style feels almost too absurdist to approach.
It’s genuinely a wild ride, only 3 seasons long and six episodes a season. You start with one thing and then the show is addressing something else entirely.
And somehow the theme stays on point.
9 hour road trip is a lot! Do you prefer road trips, or have an aversion to flying?
I fly often, however I needed to bring my car from college back to my hometown so I had to drive. I’m having a lot of fun thinking about your post, so I have to ask, would you take the offer? And if so, how would you go about getting a steady supply of humans blood?
Oh, it'd be an immediate hard no for me. I'm a mom, and no amount of power on earth is worth giving my children up for. Plus, although I love the idea of an all powerful vampire, the scenario confirms the existence of a soul and an afterlife - so even if I didn't have kids and wasn't close to my family (which I am), I'm not trading my immortal soul for limited (since you can still be killed) immortality as a vampire.
It's a fun thought exercise though!
It actually came about from a psychologist that works with my Dad, as a hypothetical that can give insight to potential sociopathic tendencies, depending on how the question is answered. Dad is a Homicide Detective, so he and his dept found it interesting, and bring it up every so often.
That’s very interesting, how is a sociopath expected to answer?
A person with sociopathic tendencies would accept it, no questions asked, and immediately leave their loved ones, damn their soul and become the Vampire. They even had some responses of "can I kill more than one person per week?"
A psychopathic response would accept it, but try to find loopholes and conditions that they can twist to their ends. They would be likely to turn on their Creator too, in a bid to garner power.
An atheist may accept it, usually doesn't though because of family ties.
A religious believer would immediately turn it down, as the proposal confirms the existence of a soul and afterlife. They usually view the offer as a satanic lure.
A narcissist waits until their family has all died or they themselves are terminal with an illness, then accepts the offer. Using this method, they get to enjoy their full lives with their family, and once they are all gone, they rewind time and now live as a Vampire.
He had some other disorders and personality traits responses for it but I've forgotten the details on those, it's been a while since I've talked this particular question over with my Dad.
Me!
Hmmmm… where do I begin? When did you begin sex work and are you still doing it? Did your family ever find out it was you in the pictures that got sent to them? What’s your favorite and least favorite part about it? Did you figure out what happened to your leg? And does have bpd play a role in your decision to become a sex worker?
Hahaha these are great questions :)
I started couple weeks ago. My family found out because some fucker sent the screenshots of my profiles to my mom and family. My favorite part about it is the money, obviously. My least favorite part is the scheduling and worrying about my own safety part and the shame society puts on it. I fell on the sidewalk when I was drunk. And bpd might have something to do w being a sex worker but I think it’s mostly being desperate for money and not having a place to live.
Why’d you choose accounting?
I want to be a forensic accountant which is someone who solves financial crime. It’s a combination of what I wanted to do as a kid (solve crime) combined with my best subject (math). I figured these are the two most important things to consider. What kinds of things did you consider when you chose biology?
Forensic accountant seems so cool! Are there lots of those jobs?
One downside is that unless you are able to secure a wfh job with a private firm which is super competitive, you essentially have to live in certain areas to find work. With that being said, I hear the government is always hiring forensic accountants and I plan to work for the fbi one day hopefully.
When I was choosing a college degree I knew I was interested in research and I knew I loved the outdoors and wanted a career where I could spend a lot of time there. I began with ecology but through taking classes and getting exposed to a lot of other ideas in bio my research interests have changed drastically
Did you reach your destination yet?
5 hours to go. Definitely glad I made this post otherwise I’d be bored out of my mind. So I have to ask, what is this idea that you have? If you’re not comfortable saying what it is specifically, then how is the process of getting a patent going? Are you actually going through with it?
Still! Dang that's quite the trip. At the moment it's a closely guarded secret, although the patent lawyer has verified it's yet to exist and viable so moving forward is an option but the prototype development is costly. However having got accepted to uni recently that's become my priority. I could always use my student loan to develope it and become wildly rich... but that might be a smidge unrealistic and irresponsible. lol
Good post btw. 👍
Congrats on getting into uni! Obviously it depends on exactly how expensive it will be compared to how much you have saved currently, but you may want to open a different company to raise capital if you can’t find investors or other methods. For example, one day I want to open my own forensic accounting firm, but before then, I plan to open a vending machine business around student housing at my college to help raise some initial funds. Doing something similar to this will allow you to finish your degree while still working towards your goals.
Aww thank you. Oh absolutely, I wouldn't say it's an astonishing amount required to develope it, it's just happened at a time where finances are directed to other priorities but your advice really is spot on and that's why i haven't rushed in and thrown my current savings at it, I'm the type that needs to make sure a safety net in place prior to taking the calculated risk, been there and learned that lesson. lol
I'm assuming you're in america as you've been travelling for days and still going, are you a resident or on vacation?
I’m a resident, driving home from college. Just went on a cruise though. I got to see the U.S. Virgin Islands and coco cay. Very unique experience but it also reminds me to be very grateful to be born in America. If you could re live your entire life without losing your memory, but you have to be born in a 3rd world country, which would you choose?
What is it your studying? Oh another question, are american colleges realistically depicted in films, all frats and football? Coco bay, ok well I'm officially jealous because that looks like a little slice of paradise.
Ooh good question.. Probably Uganda. From my limited knowledge it has phenomenal scenery, masses of incredibly kind people and the wildlife. Plus if my memory was intact I'd still be aware its a 3rd world country and feel compelled to help improve it. What about you?
I’m studying accounting, and that heavily depends. College is what you make of it. Im a bit of a nerd, I’m in the chess club and have a small but tight group of friends. With that being said, if you join a frat it certainly can be like on tv.
I would probably have to go with Uruguay. Admittedly I’m a stupid American with very little geographical knowledge, but I hear it’s relatively safe and has a good economy. Where are you from?
Is accounting still code for OF? 🧐😂 Well it sounds like it has the best of all worlds depending on what you want, plus sunshine so that's always a positive.
Ooh good choice, another beautiful country. Me I'm from the cloudy island they call britain, it's no surprise i think every other part of the world is beautiful in comparison. lol
On the MBTI, how far over to the I side are you? Just left of center or waaaay on the quiet side?
I’m definitely way on the quiet side irl. It’s something that I’m trying to work on. I have to ask though, just how much money have you spent on watches? Looks like you have an impressive collection.
I’m definitely not a collector. I’m a “three watch guy”. Stainless steel for everyday rough and tumble. Dressier for shirt and tie. And the ‘fun one’ that I got myself for my 50th birthday.
I like the mechanical artistry of the design. Functional art. And they each have a memory of the purchase experience, time and place, etc.
Probably one of the weirdest profiles I’ve ever seen. Nice. I got my bar mitzvah then never went to a synagogue again lol. So I have to ask, what’s with the obsession with anal and the Jewish/Palestine conflict?
Well that depends, what do you have planned for tomorrow? Also… let’s talk about your bio. What’s a puppy girl and where can I get one?
Do you agree that anxiety can be very helpful?
It's honestly better than any stimulant I've consumed.
Would you agree that sometimes psychological chemistry and intimacy is more important than sexual satisfaction? (Asking because you're in your 20's)
Yes, I do think anxiety can be helpful in the same way pain can be helpful. If you were to put your hand on a very hot stove, you would feel pain and immediately take your hand of the stove to prevent injury. Anxiety works in the same way. Too much anxiety can be harmful though in the same way that too much pain can be harmful. As for your second question, it’s impossible to answer. Different people put different amounts of value on different things, and the key is to find somebody who shares the same values as you. Some people may put their sexual desires before chemistry and intimacy while others, like myself, put chemistry and intimacy above sexual satisfaction. There’s not an inherently correct answer. My question to you is, what are your values in this regard?
Do you hate your life as much as I hate mine?
Jesus dude. Probably not if I’m going to be honest. I’ve been sitting here trying to think of some sort of advice I could give you that might set you in the right path or something. But imagining the feelings you must be going through is not fun. If I’m going to be honest man, I’ll say two things which you probably already know but it’s the reality of your situation.
First of all, you need help. Idk what kind of relationship you have with your family/friends, but don’t keep this shit to yourself. If you’ve been a shitty person before you don’t have that luxury any more.
Second of all, the only way you’re going to regain your motivation is to look deep within yourself. You absolutely need therapy. I completely understand being absolutely terrified to ask for help because I’ve been silently drowning in depression for the last five years, but in your situation it seems much more severe than me. You legitimately need therapy.
I appreciate you actually caring and taking your own time to think of advice plus the time to make a dedicated response like this.
I’m aware I need help, I have a good relationship with my family and we have no issues, but it’s also the kind of relationship that I don’t tell them any of my problems, I just do whatever I can to push everything off and play it like I’m ok, they have absolutely no idea how much trouble I go through in my head and just how bad it really is, I’m sure they’d be like “wow you always act so fine we could’ve never known” but it’s odd because at the same time I love being around my family we do tons of things together and I’m just great around them and them to me, just great overall but they don’t know about me mentally literally at all.
I am very aware though that others have worse mental health than me, doesn’t me mine is fine obviously. I’ve kept my mental health problems to myself my whole life, I’ve legit never said a single thing ever to cause any concern to anyone about it, I know I should go to therapy. It’s just really hard to explain how I feel I do think a majority of it stems from losing a ton of money gambling, and having no real purpose in life, if those two things weren’t true, I think I’d actually be happy with my life, most people call it lazy and maybe it is, but I really truly just don’t want to do anything I’m tired mentally and physically 24/7
I’m not going to lie, you may think I’m just saying this, but I swear this is actually scaring me. To think that I could SO easily be in your exact same spot. I’m also able to separate all of my issues from my reality and be completely fine even if I feel like everything else is falling down around me. That’s how I’ve felt for the past five years. I also just recently lost $40 gambling… so I’m never doing it again.
But look, reality is your situation is a little more dire than mine. You’re smart enough to know how interest works. You are never ever going to feel like it. I PROMISE YOU. If you tell your family tomorrow you will NEVER regret it. I’m sure you know all these things and this is the root of your depression. Because you still can’t do it. Am I right?
Don’t be scared because think of it this way, you may think you could be worse like me, but I can say the same thing and it can even be worse for me, someone else told me in a reply the other day it’s good to try and be grateful that while your situation may be bad, it can always be 10x worse and just try your best to be thankful for what you have so I’m trying to use that now, it helps a bit.
Exactly, trust me I’m totally aware I would feel so much better if I expressed how I felt and got help, I know I would, I just hate feeling burdening others and wasting their time with my troubles, I know that’s not true obviously and you say you have depression as well so I assume you know that feeling as well.
Like I said, I think the two main roots of my depression are losing so much money gambling and not having a purpose. Yeah I know and still can’t do it or fix it you are right
That is true, are you making payments on your debt on time?
Nope, I haven’t made a payment in almost two years, no income
Tbh I think you’re making excuses with yourself and trying to detach yourself from your problems but I’m not tryin to write essays all night. You can’t run away from it forever. Atleast start door dashing or something to make some cash.
I’m not making excuses, I’m literally saying I’m aware of all my problems and that I understand it’s pathetic, not claiming everything is fine I 100% acknowledge all lay issues and that I do nothing about them, not excusing them at all.
Not detaching either, I’m fully transparent and nobody is more open (online at least) about my problems
Fully understand I can’t run away forever, I’m really not sure how to explain it like I said I’m simply just not meant for this world yes I understand it’s pathetic, I know I’m a loser, I know it’s sad, I know I’m lazy, I know I’m an absolute joke and so on I can call myself every bad thing in the dictionary it basically all applies I’m really not sure what else you want me to say lol I’m such a terrible person in every aspect like I’m not making excuses or detaching from anything, I hold all my problems and explain them all the time
Also I can’t doordash I don’t have a car or a license and I’m not in a city that is able to bike doordash, not even close.
I know I need income, I think about having a job literally every single day I’m not even joking because I think about my debt and I think about how nice it would be if I had income and could help my parents out and make life easier for us, on top of the fact I don’t have kids, no SO, no physical limitations and I still don’t take advantage, yet there’s single moms out there working FT times and taking care of their kids (I applaud them, it’s truly remarkable) and I can’t even manage a pt gig, that’s the point I’ve gotten to.
Yeah we’ve gotten pretty off topic and it’s not even an AMA for you anymore and it’s just me rambling so I apologize for wasting your time
Nope, I haven’t made a payment in almost two years, no income
Hey I'm an intj as well, and only a year older than you. I also noticed you made a post about a lack of motivation to do your hobbies. I've really struggled with getting myself to do the things I purely enjoy in addition to my responsibilities. Are you doing any better with that these days, and if so, do you have any advice?
I’ve done two things which have definitely helped. Firstly, I quit vaping. After doing so, it feels like I have more energy, and I’m working on quitting weed too. Secondly, I’ve been taking my sleep schedule more seriously. It’s no surprise that I didn’t have too much motivation considering I’m constantly on 5 hours of sleep. My question to you is have you ever thought about making more video essay type YouTube videos? I noticed you made a cool video about the blue chin guy, I think it’s a super cool hobby and something I’d like to do myself someday.
I wish you the best with quitting and am glad it's helped you with your motivation. A proper sleep schedule is an important lol but I've had trouble with that ever since I was a kid. And I actually kept up with making videos ever since the blue chin guy thing! It's been a long time since I posted any of them on my account though. I felt that "someday" way until I decided to just go for it. If it's something you really like the idea of, I'd seriously encourage you to do the same :) My channel is still relatively small, but I did hit 100k in February and you just never know what can happen unless you try it out.
100k??? That’s insane! Is yt something you want to do full time if possible? I’m in the car rn and don’t have good enough connection but I’ll check out your channel when I get home.
Thanks for checking it out if you get the chance to! I've been generally self employed for a while. YouTube isn't the only thing I do and there's actually more I'd like to pursue doing, but it is the bulk of it. I quit my old job that I worked at for over a year once I was able to. I really wish everyone who truly desires any form of self-employment would be able to achieve it. It's something I feel very lucky for.
Wow, that’s very inspiring. Just wondering, what kinda of software do you use for editing? How long did it take to become proficient with them? I’d say that’s the main thing holding me back from starting my own channel.
I started with nothing but my phone! Used an app called VN editor and recorded my voice with my phone's camera lmao. About half a year later I got a computer and microphone, but was intimidated by making that switch because it just looked overwhelming at first. I use Audacity to edit my audio and Davinci Resolve for editing. After making a few videos I felt comfortable. I feel like you never stop learning new things but getting the basics down doesn't take too long.
I saved your comment, thanks for the help! Are you working on any videos currently? Or do you have any video ideas you’d like to do someday?
You're welcome! I am working on a video right now and am planning on posting it this week actually. I have a google drive folder that I use to put ideas which I'd also recommend doing if you start a channel. And if you do, feel free to send me a link to a video if you'd like!
been reading some replies. you said your attending USF, did you transfer? or start freshman year? what were your stats? weirdly my dream school even though it’s nothing prestigious. Think i just like it because i researched so much on it
I started at usf as a freshman. It’s super nice, the campus is awesome and you’ll never run out of things to do and people to meet. I got a 1210 on sats. I honestly forget what I got on the act but it was slightly better and I had a 4.1 weighted gpa or something like that. I see you frequent the cat support subreddit. Do you have cats? If so what’s the funniest thing they’ve ever done?
Had a cat, it was a long story, i think i’ve since deleted the threads but my old post were all about this cat i found outside, adopted, but then had to rehome.
Funniest thing they ever done was probably when we first found him. he just walked into our apartment and made it his home, almost like he lived their before. Could’ve been a possibility honestly, they didn’t have any medical problems and were relatively clean for a “stray”
Doesn’t sound so funny now but i’ve been talking about getting a cat with this new apartment for the longest, so the chances of it was extraordinary. Like i manifested his existence.
Cat distribution system at its finest lol just waiting for my turn
what is the one favourite thing about your personality and why?
This is actually a great conversation starter. Definitely gonna steal this one. I’d say my favorite part of my personality is my ability to be entertained by literally anything. Give me a cardboard box and I’ll be occupied for atleast an hour. I’m not high maintenance at all😂. Looking through your profile, I noticed you’ve been posting a lot of different quotes about a variety of topics. So, which fictional character do you think is the most quotable or has said the most things that resonate with you?
Thank you so much for your answer. In a world where we are worried so much about what others like about us, it’s always good to pay more focus on what we like about ourselves. Whenever I ask this question to people I want to get to know, I always see an expression of surprise, because they are conditioned so much to focus on the impressions of others that they forget to focus their attention on themselves, at least for a while. This question has always served me well to understand how a person views/knows themselves.
Coming back to your question, I think Benjamin the donkey from Animal Farm is the most quotable literary character from the books I have read. This is controversial because there are so many characters who deserve the title. But, I have picked him because of a few reasons. First, he is a good observer. Second, he talks less. Third, he is a pessimist which my inner pessimist self loves. As I said, he speaks less, but some of the words he speaks are quotable.
That’s a good answer, personally I would say Shikamaru Nara (the really smart guy from Naruto). He has some really good quotes.
What's your advice to your younger self? If you're still in your 20s, then what's your goal for this year?
I’m actually only 19, but if I could give advice to myself when I was 15 it would be to stay away from drugs and be more active in my friend group. My goal in the next year is to open a business. Nothing huge or anything but I’m planning on starting a vending machine business around student housing at my college. Looking through your profile, I see that you’re leaving for Japan in five days. What inspired you to go to Japan, what’s your favorite anime, and what are you most looking forward to?
What small thing made u happy the year u turned 18
My best memory from when I was 18 was definitely senior week. At the end of the year, my friends and I got an Airbnb in ocean city for a week and non stop partied. Specifically, one of my best friends got drunk for the first time during the trip so I had a lot of fun messing with him. So, looking at your profile, there’s certainly a lot to unpack here. Firstly, how did you discover your cuck kink and can you explain the appeal in it? I’ve never really understood. Also, nice tits 👍
Good morning. Did you sleep well? How goes the drive?
Hello, unfortunately I was sharing a hotel room with my parents. They could join the Olympics for synchronized snoring I swear. I got about 6 hours left in the ride so I’m gonna be here for a while. So firstly, in your opinion, what’s the best stock to invest in that’s high risk? Also, if you could instantly transfer your skills in violin to any other instrument, what would it be and why?
Sorry to hear. Hope you get some rest in the car.
There’s a lot of hype being GME recently. Lots of potential for profit if you have throwaway cash.
Maybe would like to be great with the acoustic classical guitar. They sound amazing when played well!
I might have to throw a couple hundred in just in case. The worst feeling is missing an opportunity that you were aware of. Since I’m in the car, got any music recommendations? I’ve played through essentially every song in every playlist I have. Currently listening to the Kendrick/drake beef out of pure boredom lol
Want something totally different? Look up Cheap Coffee by Chang Kiha
What is your favourite tv series?
My favorite tv series (not including anime) is twd, criminal minds, and that 70s show. I noticed you commented on a post about twd so I have to ask, which season was your favorite and why? Also I just wrote an 8 page essay on why Ricks group survived (well at-least some of them) for one of my classes.
You have fantastic taste! Ooo I mean that’s tough as I stopped watching after season 8 (Carl and Glenn HURT) I would have to say I found season 5 very fun and action packed from memory…I haven’t watched it in a few years so I’ll have to give it a rewatch and finish all of it this time. How about yourself?
Season five is also my favorite. That’s the season where Rick’s group abandoned their morales and started killing people. Like the scene in the church where Rick massacres the cannibals and says it’s nothin more than four walls and a roof now. I really liked how they slowly shifted from normal people into cold killers. It’s a slow process and Twd did it the most naturally and realistically from any zombie movie I’ve seen.
Where are you as you respond to this?
Currently in a hotel room taking a break from a long drive for the night. I have to ask though, did you end up finding a domestic servant, or have you ever taken part in any kind of bdsm relationship? If so what was it like and is it something that anybody could get into?
I’ve found one offs but not someone who I’ve maintained a dynamic with. I think most anyone could get into BDSM.
what's happening my dude
Welp, I’m gonna be up all night with this AMA lol. So tell me about this musical you participated in recently. What role did you play? My room mate is majoring in theatre tech, do you want to pursue something related to theatre in college or is it just a hobby?
the show was Matilda the musical, so there was a lot of fun aspects to it. I was in the big kid ensemble, so I was in most of the songs at the school, so that was fun. I don't really know, I've been into theater since I was about 4, and it's one of my core interests, so I'll probably continue it, but my dream is to be a voice actor, so I dunno 🙃
A voice actor? That would be an extremely cool job, what type of voice acting do you envision yourself doing? I think being a voice actor for something like South Park would be so funny
Definitely stuff like cartoons, because I'm a proud cartoon nerd, although I don't watch as many classic cartoons as I wish I did. My idols are Frank Welker, famously known for voicing Scooby-Doo, and Fred, and also he's probably in like every cartoon ever (kind of), and Nancy Cartwright who does a ton of the voices on the Simpsons and lots of other things. I also love Kristen Schaal, but that's mainly because I'm a big dorm when it comes to Gravity Falls
That’s awesome, imagine being a voice actor for a show that becomes super famous and ordering at a McDonald’s drive through with your characters voice. Every man’s dream.
That is quite literally my dream. I just imagine going somewhere, and people being like "Wow, you're the person that did that!"
Bet
You have actually a pretty interesting profile. I’ve also struggled with depression and definitely have had my fair share of shitty birthdays. With that being said, you described yourself as a nerd, so what are the most nerdy things that you like that you’re too afraid to tell people irl? For me, I’d say my love for anime. Some of my friends know that I like anime but not anywhere near the extent of it. I’ve seen all of one piece.
Dc Marvel science and animals is the breed of nerd I am
My sister made me watch just about every marvel movie released. I think some of them are very good like the iron man movies but some were lackluster like the ant man ones. Also, I’ve been thinking about getting a cat but I don’t know anything about cat breeds. Got any recommendations?
Alright.
Best meals you had in college or anywhere else?
Good morning, the best meal I’ve ever had was on a royal Caribbean cruise. The escargot and steak were amazing. My question to you is do you feel ready for deployment? And is this your first time being deployed? If not, what’s the craziest thing you saw?
Good morning. That must be really nice you had that.
I do not feel ready for deployment. I still have injuries I still sustained during initial entry training where I was told by civilian doctors I could be paralyzed at any time or lose coordination. The military doctors shrugged and signed me off to meet numbers.
I have not deployed yet at all. The craziest thing I have seen is soldiers fraternizatizing each other just cause they seemed to like each other's company, and then I had to scream at them not to make out in uniform. I do not have any power to ask them what unit their in because I'm not noisy like that. I'm there to save their asses from trouble and warned them.
If that's not considered the craziest thing, seen a trainee try killing himself with his own M4 and other trainees were trying to fight him to get the weapon off his hand and the gun went off so drill sergeants had to step in. soon; MPs showed up and took that trainee away in cuffs.
Jesus, that’s intense. Do you think you will actually get into combat or likely not? Do you think you’re mentally prepared for the things you could potentially have to do? If not, is there any way to prepare or not really?
I highly doubt it, but I'll always prepare when it ever happens. My injuries make it harder to do so much, and I am so young, I only got out of high school not too long ago either and seen so much in a short amount of time. I'm just questioning my life decisions every now and then.
The only thing I can prepare myself for is eating right, sleeping right, and training enough to sweat and understand. However, with drones being the new warfare, I doubt there's anything I can do but evasive maneuvers or electronic warfare.
What are your thoughts on bananas these days?
Bananas are by far my favorite berry. I know that because I recently got into a fruit-fact off with an autistic person. Anyways, why play tarkov when rust exists? Also what’s your favorite agent in valorant and why?
I have a few buddies that play Tarkov, and rust just doesn’t really do it for me. Although to be fair I haven’t played it.
Valorant, raze or Kay/o. I don’t play it much anymore as I feel too old for it most of the time.
Do you have any pets?
My sister has a corgi that I’m getting to spend the summer with which started yesterday so I’m excited about that. So, you’re ethnically Jewish, but a practicing Christian? No judgement, but I am curious, how did that come about?
what games do u play
I play Valorant, apex, and rust mostly. Now I have to ask, what inspired you to get chickens? Are chickens capable of bonding with humans like cats and dogs can?
i want to live a very homestead life. chickens are part of the asthenic. chickens do not have the same level of consciousness as dogs and cats so they don’t necessarily build a “bond” with you, but they can be social and familiar with some humans they see consistently:)
That’s very cool, I was actually watching a compilation of the funniest chicken videos yesterday for some reason. So I understand that groups of chickens need a rooster, but I have no idea why, do you have roosters too? And what’s their purpose?
Favorite TV show?
My favorite show happens to be one piece which I see you made a post about. Who’s your favorite character and why is it chopper?
Chopper? Nah man my favorite are Ace and Sanji, how about yours?
Bet
Ok, firstly, did you catch the dogecoin train? Also did you decide to shave the beard or keep it? Personally, I think you should keep it.
I unfortunately did not catch the train and yes I did shave it
I missed it too, let it be a lesson to both of us, never miss an obvious opportunity like that again. Also, do you think you look better without facial hair? I’ve been debating growing some facial hair too because I look a little younger then I actually am
Have you ever been in love
Yes I do believe in man-made climate change. At the end of the day, there are a lot of people who dedicate their entire career to finding scientific evidence that it exists, and about 97% of experts say that man made climate change is real. Who am I to disagree with them? My question for you is if you could go back in time to when you were 13 years old with the sole goal of becoming a pro football player, do you think you could make it to the nfl?
Well have a look if ye want
Well, both your posts are about drugs so, if you were to start a drug empire selling drugs, how would you go about it?
i honestly don’t even remember the shit i post on here. if you respond you’ll be surprising me too
How much wood would a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck encountered a Klingon bird of prey
Ooh...do me please.
EDIT: What are you studying at school?
Hmm fun twist on an ama, I'm game
Future career paths? Optimism about financial security in the future? Favorite lazy foods for when you’re hungry but don’t wanna actually cook?
I know you like accounting but have you ever thought you might be a good therapist?
What was the hardest thing you think you dealt with? How did you get through it?
Might have to get to this tomorrow, do you believe in man-made climate change?
If you could be an inanimate object, plant or tree what would it be and why?
