I was having a talk with a buddy at work about youtubers and ads and mentioned how some people do ads right and mentioned the ad they did for surf shark where he's in an office building and getting attacked. I wanna show it to him but I don't remember around when they were running it!

Everything you ask is subjective, but dumbing down the rpg mechanics doesn't automatically mean you haven't evolved.
Combat has changed a lot through the games, there's a cover system, crafting and weapon modding were introduced.
I created custom spells in daggergall my man. If you haven't played that game maybe you should, it's the most well realized they've ever made imo.
Again there's a difference between things aren't evolving and things aren't going the way you want them to.

as I recall they gave them very early access to the Anniversary update so they could get ready for it.
But even then I saw entitled whining about how they gave them early access to the code but didn't give them the "source code".

Yea I remember building and flying my airship in Skyrim, really wish they had done more with that instead of just doing the same thing again.
You can say you don't like the direction they are going in because I do agree with you that they've been dumbing things down to reach a broader audience. But that started with Morrowind, Daggerfall is a much deeper RPG. In fact it was the most feature complete RPG they ever made and have been trying to get back to that point ever since imo.
But to say the games haven't changed or evolved is so off target lol

Ever stop to think it's not so much that BGS games are different it's just that you've played more of them now so they just don't have the same impact?

They've said in numerous interviews all their maps are made with procgen and then they just go over it by hand and touch it up.
I'd agree that Starfield's main plot is nothing mind blowing.
That being said it's probably the best main plot since fallout 3.
I look forward to the revisionism when they all claim they said that it was good all along.
