In a wild way I agree with you. Dairy products are extremely low quality. It's so much (mostly imported) highly processed shit. Laughing cow cheese is neither cheese nor food, seriously. (Lben and beldi butter being some of the few outliers)

Beef is not great either. It works for braising but it's too lean for anything else.

Vegetable variety is surprisingly low for a country that is so agrarian and traditional. And you can see so badly the impact of the best crops being used for export. It drives me crazy for example that produce is harvested and sold unripe for the domestic market. The reason is that the harvest is timed for export and the rejects end on the markets.

However where I would disagree is that it leads to malnourishment and bad diet. The Moroccan diet is pretty good. Perhaps too much (also imported) wheat, meat and oil and sugar. But it's pretty good. The variety and often the quality of produce may be low. But people know how to use it well. I hope Morocco can keep the traditions as they continue to move out of poverty.
