I took a wrong turn on a back country hike. Did 5 miles day one (as intended) and covered 35 miles over the next 2 days. When I realized we needed to turn around we were kinda committed to doing the long way. I've never been so tired in my life.

I have 3 (kinda 4) stories in my head that I have been building for 10+ years.

• The cabin

• The void

• Go West my son

• The Forest

The cabin and the void take place in the same universe and are the most fleshed out. I have complied a fair amount of the main plot points into short stories, maybe enough for a novel.

The Forest is the oldest, probably close to 15 years old now. Go west my son is the least fleshed out, but probably the most detailed.

I used to have really vivid lucid dreams, to the point where I would schedule them. I'd set an alarm for 4:00 am, lightly wake up and shut it off, then lucid dream for a few hours until my actual alarm went off at 6:00 am. Those were the times I really built The Forest. I even built that one during day dreams.

More recently I work on building The Cabin and The Void upon falling asleep. Unfortunately I backed myself into a corner with a plot twist in The Cabin so I've been trying to work my way out of that. For the past few months almost every night I start at the end of the plot twist and try to work my way out of it, but I have a dream version on writers block so to speak.

The center piece of The Cabin has been, well, the cabin. If anyone has a way to back myself out of the corner of a magically cabin burning down and closing the portal to the "real word" that'd be great. I'm thinking I just need to go back and erase the plot twist, but the damage has been done.

Eating paper. From 3rd to 6th grade I openly ate paper. Primarily the "left overs" after you tore out a paper of notebook paper, but frequently just entire pages themselves. People just overlooked it because it was my "thing".

One day I realized it was weird and stopped doing it in the open but kept it up in secret for the longest time. I don't really know when I stopped, I guess I just slowly tapered off. Maybe 2 or 3 years ago I ate some paper just to give it a go. Not as satisfying as I remember. Maybe I'm over it, or paper companies have changed their formula so I don't get the same hit I used to.

I basically stopped once 3rd party stuff stopped working. I've been back a couple times but never bother to check my messages.

I'll be honest, I forgot everything I knew about baking. Cooking is an art, baking is a science. I realized I'm more of an artist than I am a scientist. Mostly because I'm lazy and don't want to get out measuring spoons. When cooking and the recipe calls for 1 tablespoon, I know roughly what 1 tablespoon of that thing looks like. Can't really do that when baking something.

Lag bolt and RTV for double wall, just RTV for PVC flue pipes. Not a big fan of it. Previous company I worked for did do combustion analysis so I'm fairly new to doing it, outside of the few times in school

Follow up.

After making this post I sent the faulty combustion analyzer with a different tech. He tried it on 2 80 percenters and 1 90. Same thing happened with him. We're getting rid of out old insight analayizers and getting the new field piece ones.

I am just really curious as to why it works on some furnaces and not others

I grabbed a different one from the shop. It was recalibrated, new batteries, and new filter maybe a month or so ago when we for set up for this heating season. But it's weird to me that it worked just fine on 90+ furnaces and not the 80.

I didn't mention in the main post, but I took it with and tested it out on a few more furnaces, same results. Just fine for 90+ but no reading in 80s

Just before this Heating seasoning. And until last week worked just fine

Tonight is a sad night

So I used to work at a recycling center. One time a dude lost his wedding ring in the cardboard pile. He was obviously upset and I was trying to help him look even though it was like finding a needle in a hay stack. In an attempt to lighten the situation I made a joke and said something like, "I'll keep looking. You run to the jewelry store real quick and find an identical one before your wife comes home."

This dude made me feel like shit for making the joke. He said, "my wife died a couple weeks ago. She picked out this ring for me."

Say no more fam. I got you.

Shut down operations for over 2 hours while we hunted piece of cardboard by peice of cardboard to find the ring.

When we finally did I suggested he maybe not wear it in certain situations.

From time to time I'd see him again and always ask if he left his ring in his car before he played with the cardboard lol.

One restaurant I occasionally frequent technically has a dress code. I've only ever seen it enforced once. Hell I didn't even know about it until the second time I went. Technically I violated it the first time I went.

The group it was enforced upon was a crew of 6 or 7 clearly drunk early 20s guys. And before someone says, "oh this place selectively enforces the dress code based on race or gender" the group in question was all white.

They asked to be seated. The front person shook their head no, and pointed to a small sign next to the front stand. On my way out I looked at it and saw it was the dress code.

Idk what kind of signal was given, but within just a few moments of the host telling them no, probably 7 or 8 workers from FoH and BoH appeared and ushered the group out, before they could disrupt the ambiance.

Had I not been seated in the exact spot I was, and happened to look up when I did, I would have never known it ever happened. The exucution of keeping rowdy people out was flawless.

It's always been rage bait 

Part way through cooking the sausage they decided their creation wasn't going to be dumb enough. Maybe they wanted the end product to be taller, or the big patties wouldn't fit whatever jar they were going to use. So they cut the 2 patties into 4 and just pretended they meant to do it that way.

Or it's rage bait and they know people would comment on it, hence why they showed it in the initial clip.

My 2 dogs used to be the cool dogs. Sit in our laps and wag their tails and beg for pets as everyone walked by.

Since my son was born the one has become overly protective, and the other is getting old and doesn't like all the commotion. So they stay home now.

The old wild west days of the internet. I'm young enough to miss the prime days of the 90s, but old enough to watch how things have changed drastically over the past 25 or do years.

Even reddit itself has lost it's charm. Might be a combination of maturing, nostalgia, and the way others around me viewed the internet.

These days so much shit is so monetized it's barely use able or just otherwise filtered down to appeal to the lowest common denominator that it's boring.

Sure there are pockets out there that still hold their old charm. There is a lego forum I found in the early 2000s that has probably less than 500 total active members, but it's been so much fun to watch us grow from kids to adults, adults to retirees, and people grow their families and lego collections. It's also been enough time that active users have passed on. An other forum I still follow was for a now defunct video game. But people still post random stuff.

Went to a union station one time. I looked up at the opulant ceiling and said to myself in a Owen Wilson type voice, "woow".

Unknown to me there was a lady behind me who parroted what I said, and how I said it.

We ending up striking up a conversation about random stuff for a good amount of time. Just random stuff.

Then she said, "I'm going to have a smoke. Want to join?"

I said, "no thanks I don't smoke." and we parted ways. It's one of those times I look back on and wonder what may have been the outcome had I joined her outside.

I've seen farm trucks that are 20 years old and spend all day, every day, out in the dirt. Basically never get cleaned, and still don't look that bad. Are they dirty as shit? Oh hell yes they are. But are they that bad? No.

When I first moved into my current neighborhood I took my dogs for a walk. I was on the sidewalk and they were probably 3ft into the person's yard.

The lady comes out and starts, rudely mind you, explaining how people keep leave dog poop in their yard and I need to clean up after my dogs. I held up the poop bags I had and said "I clean up after myself." she seemed mildly satisfied with my answer, but was still giving me attitude. The husband comes out and starts screaming at me for letting my dogs shit in his yard, and it's rude to talk let your dogs walk on people's property.

I was pissed off at his rant. I yelled back, "fuck you I can walk where I want." he went back into his house, so I booked it thinking he was going to come back out with a gun.

He starts following me and I figured out he had called the cops. I only lived a few houses down so I just went inside while he was on the phone with the cops. The cops showed up and I watched as they talking for at least 30 minutes. He walked away with his head held down.

The cops came and talked to me. It was a 30 second conversation.

"did you leave your dogs poop in his yard?"

"no, they didn't even poop in his yard."

"ok well make sure you always pick it up."

I held out the leash with a roll of poop bags attached to it and they left.

I rarely walk that direction anymore.

The icing on the cake is that he is friends with my next door neighbor, and she fucking loves my dogs. She's retired and loves to watch them play in the yard. One day the asshole was parked in his truck talking to my next door neighbor. I walked by with my dogs and she started gushing about how cute they are and how well behaved they are, etc etc.

He's never spoken to me since that day, but deep down I think he realizes the errors of his way, but he's too much of an asshole to ever admit he was wrong.
