Mother Love Bone - Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns

Not the grungiest song but one of the absolute best of the era

Jimmy Carter from 10 years ago. He was literally the most powerful person in the world and later spent his time building houses for the poor. Hopefully it will convince the aliens that we are worth saving as a planet

Oingo Boingo at the Golden Bear (the original which sat like 100) before “Only a Lad” came out in 1980 or 81. Great show.

Also saw Jewel play with the Rugburns (her sometimes co-writer’s band) as an opening act for Dramarama. It was months before her first album. The Rugburns pulled her out of the audience for a couple songs at the end of their set. Her last song was “Who Will Save Your Soul” and it was stunning.

I’m convinced Keith is a vampire. Or Zombie

That list is a joke. Naked Gun but not Airplane? Zoolander #1? No Caddyshack? Please…

I thought it was the wires also. Figured some homeless guy was stealing power from somewhere

Blade Runner and Raiders of the Lost Ark. I actually did see a double feature of Breakfast Club and The Sure Thing back in the 80’s. Best $5(?) I ever spent on movies

My Surly Bridge Club decked out as a commuter/touring/all-around bike is nicknamed “Tourest” cuz it’s the most tour bike I own

50 lbs is pretty heavy with today’s gear. I used to carry 50 lbs including flyfishing gear but that was over 25 years ago. Now I’m at about 35 lbs w/o fishing gear and still under 40 lbs with. How much elevation are you planning on climbing each day. To me that’s the real killer. I backpack in the sierras and usually end up climbing about few thousand feet in 9 miles. If you’re doing that at 10k+ feet in elevation it takes a toll.

For me it’s usually the hottest fly they recommended at the fly fishing shop

A ziploc bag with a few dollars in quarters. Mostly for parking meters but also for gas if necessary

Where I went to school our student government would have large outdoor celebrations for things like Octoberfest or St. Patrick’s Day and actually give us (those over 21) free beer tickets. Of course a lot of times the frats were running the kegs so they were pretty lax in collecting your ticket so you could easily get 4-6 beers for free. Those were the days…

Damn he help shape GenX musical tastes. Will be missed.
