This sub leans very anti-israel for what is worth

Also the literal first thing you do is

Doesn't take a genius to puzzle out the tone of that quest.

I read James by Percival Everett recently, it came out this year. It's a retelling of Huckleberry Finn from the perspective of the slave character "N-word Jim"

That novel is one of those rare ones you read and remember just how special literature is. It's so good.

I was excited to read it back when it came out. I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to books and a beloved critical darling serious LiteraryTM novel that also was a massive bestseller and hit amongst more casual readers intrigued me greatly.

For a brief synopsis: A Little Life focuses on a man named Jude as he deals with the mental trauma of severe childhood abuse.

But what the reality of the novel is was very disappointing. I found it to be overly long, like way way too long. Yangihara can write a fine sentence but she often writes "flowery" for no purpose, its style without substance as contrasted with someone like Nabokov. The characters are flat, and go through next to no development over the course of the novel. Everyone acts like they are insane.

I also object to the subject matter presented. Not in a "Oh, you can't write about stuff like THAT" way (In fact I've read way worse stuff in books I thought were way better) but in a "If you're going to write about incredibly serious subject matter you need to treat it well" way and Yangihara doesn't at all. And reading interviews by her indicates that she is not interested in understanding what she is writing about. I take issue with that.

I won't specify instances where I took issue with it, as I don't want to spoil you in case you do decide to read it.

The novel has faced a lot of revisionist criticism from when it was released, with a lot of thinkpieces calling into question Yangihara's work as a whole and her seeming fascination with gay men and sexual violence perpetuated on them, seeing as that is a heavy focus of just about all her work. Which does come off as strange to me, personally.

To me, A Little Life comes off as emotional torture porn. Its a sympathy orgy of "Isn't this so awful and sad... but kind of beautiful in a way?" (No) There's no substance, no depth, just an author writing a slog of flowery sexual abuse schlock and its fallout designed to make the reader feel a series of emotional gut punches. Its just misery for misery's sake.

He looks like one of those things from Attack on Titan

I highly recommend against it. I aggressively despise that book.

Must be rough to be married to a militant turkish nationalist. I'm sorry you had to find out like this.

Option 2.

Then it feels like redemption or "cancelling out the mistake".

There was also the Bloodborne plagiarism kerfuffle.

Personally I dislike how since he is like the lore youtuber, the takes in his videos are just taken as fact by a large portion of the community.

There's actually no chance.

Children should be banned from the DD I think.

At this point I almost want him to be named player of the tournament just to read your inevitable essay about it.

Yea, I'm not criticizing it, but it is a consistent thing across the game. Trying to figure out the order of events is difficult, let alone how many years it took between everything.

The timeline in this game is a mess. Practically everything is a guessing game for when it actually occurred.

Foden only has 4 goals? Hasn't he been in the team for years now?

I once lost every header I went for when my coach put me at striker exclusively because I towered over the opponents backline.

I swear that one CB was half frog.

Knowing England.... we'll win

How is Radahn "holding back the stars" prevent the eclipse? We see both of the sun and the moon move in game.

That Radahn holding the stars was the reason it didn't work is a popular fan theory but it's just a theory, there's no proof that's the case besides conjecture.

He didn't try to revive him, he was trying to actually kill him for good. Wants him to die "a true death".

I assumed you just couldn't avoid getting hit there after failing to avoid it while trying 2000 different methods.

Good to see it confirmed

I don't think they even think about pvp when they design stuff initially and just try to fix it in post if at all.

Yea he clearly intended to hurt his opponent, he just completely whiffed the attempt.

Yea thats why Nanaya (who wants Midra to become lord of frenzied flame) tells him to "endure".

Once his suffering meter is full and he pulls out the sword, he ascends.

Its heavily implied (almost right out stated) that the Omen are a result of the Hornsent cursing Marika.

"A curse upon thee, rotten miscreant."

"A curse upon the strumpet's progeny, upon Marika's children each and all."

"The curse of the omen shall strike thee down..."

Backhand blades get a B in cold/magic infusion. Milady gets B in magic. Both of those are good infusable weapons.

I think the Rellana swords are pretty cracked personally

Probably nothing better than moonveil, but theres also nothing better than Blasphemous blade for Faith users either. Is what it is.
