I don’t think suburban conservatives care quite as much

they're the ones who want to keep the exclusionary zoning to keep out the "urban people"

living in a high cost area like that is also more likely you can get rid of those car payments to make up the difference

"serivces" like nail salon/oil change/housecleaning etc

these are also highly dependent on local housing costs because overhead costs more in HCOL areas

I agree I just mean my point is that factor affects private development and government development the same.

(a.k.a. rent seeking drives up all costs in constrained localities and therefore labor/material rises as well)

this doesn't just disappear when government pays to build stuff though

because only the owner-occupant should make gains off it for some reason

maybe that's what I'm noticing, it seems really obvious in parts that they weren't recording together so sometimes their tone doesn't match the others in a conversation. I guess I didn't realize the game came out during covid

I'm not real far into the game but so far the English voice acting in Arise doesn't seem as good as in Berseria

I settled on a wholesale club

Just happened to me, it added a line to the schedule even. Very weird.

I mean it only makes me think of Magilou from Berseria who says "I can heal the wounds but I can't heal the pain" when she heals you during battle. Alphen just can't feel the pain part, it's a character gimmick sure but it's what makes him uniquely compatible with Shionne.

And it makes sense that's what would happen considering we can't just snap our fingers and suddenly the housing supply has doubled. Infill is going to take time.

this is why the "fuckcars" subreddit is bad for urbanism, since they seem to care more about destruction than building

It's almost a strawman argument. We can ban cars in pedestrian areas like downtowns and main streets while still allowing cars in less dense areas, but also we need more denser areas and alternative modes of transportation between them.

registered voters

Not total population, and not all registered voters actually vote.

Infrastructure investments are a little different than corporate subsidies.

Not half of total Americans, just enough of voters in the right places and enough others who don't seem to care enough to stop it.
