I enjoy playing pool so usually go down to wt sports bar and play :)

There is the box game cafe that a friend frequents and recommends (though I have yet to go there)

Bath is a little further away, but beautiful! I grew up there and moved to Cambridge recently, it’s a 4 hour commute one way but if you stay there overnight you’ll be able to see a lot of bath. Would recommend the Roman baths and the abbey, worth visiting a few of the independent shops as you can grab some really lovely stuff :)

I love their Manuka honey and yoghurt hydrate and repair leave in spray! I use it as a final step to wash day and small amounts every now and again for refreshing between washes (only if my curls lack definition though) 😁

Exactly! It’s just a wonderful chilled out experience for eyes and ears, with a trail of story throughout that is so thoughtful and mysterious

Such a great film, loved it so much! Highly recommend this if you’re looking for an anime film to chill to!

Barakumon - very laid back no big story and built around fun interactions between a serious calligrapher and a care free child

Amaama to Inazuma - again no big story line about a father learning to cook delicious meals for his daughter within their everyday life

The silver shop! (Also known as the silver gift shop) Great little jewellers with lots of locally made gifts (cards, soap, jewellery boxes, teddies, glass figurines, cloth frogs etc) in the front of the store :)

Yeah…I know no one in Cambridge, I’ve applied for hospital accommodation (as I’m moving to work at addenbrookes) so I’m hoping that goes through and I can then do viewings in person and find a place whilst I’m there. Still looking round though! All the advice here has helped relieve some stress so I feel a lot more optimistic about it all

Yeah, seems to be the advice so I’m stopping the up front.

As for the others, that’s exactly what I’m doing. Viewing and then sending my application as soon as it’s done. I’m not being fussy on where or furnishings at all.

The only other thing I can think of is I’m doing virtual viewings atm as I live 4 hours away and work full time so when flats go up I can’t view them in person as it’s too short notice for work to allow me to see in person. And it’s an expensive train ride as I’ve only been able to get one viewing per day in effect and can’t do that everyday..

Just got to keep going and trying, now with no up front but seeing what I can do to add to the base rent each month as that seems to be the way to go if I can afford to.

So I was under the impression from colleagues at work that offering up front rent can make landlords more inclined to choose you and when I would mention it to letting agencies they were like “that’s a strong offer” so I kept with it…

I make a decent salary and shouldn’t be having issue there of being low or close to the annual rent as I’m trying to make sure I have some savings each month too.

Been asking to move in asap and saying I’m looking for 12 month tenancy with the likely hood of continuing for up to 3 years.

So I’m thinking it’s turning into a bidding war so I’m going to stop the up front business and start just looking to add some extra to the rent each month…
