I've spent most of my time on "Goodbye Graciuos" and that kick still haunts me so any comment on that would be appreciated!
I listen from M-audio bx5 and Beyerdynamic 990pro, my room has minimal acoustic treatment and no sub but recently I got Sound Reference which helped a fair amount.

Great stuff! If I can leave my two cents...
It's so fine : I'd move that marimba/vibraphone from the centre to make room for the vocal that is fighting with the low mid. 10/12kHz at times jumps out too much.
Cellar door: could use a bit less of 100/300 Hz and the instruments hard panned are a touch too loud.
Flower for you: could use some clarity probably too much 200Hz range. Snare fundamental around 200Hz is very prominent probably from the bleeding from the other tracks. Ride cymbal makes 10kHz jump too much
Black squirrel: A touch muddy, probably the bass or electric gtr in the centre. Sides a bit loud a bassy.
Overall very good job! I wish this was my first mix!

Because of all the different aspects of music such composer, musician, producer etc. Each one use the term how it fits them
I think the lack of a defined vocabulary is what often keep a vibe of mystery around music.
A beat is in my opinion all of the mentioned above: A measure of time in music, 4 beats= 1 bar A drum kit playing a loop/pattern/groove A full instrumental song/track
It all depends from context and points of view, even tho in my opinion it should be the speaker to clarify what they mean rather than the listener.

If you play the guitar a MIDI keyboard may not be the best choice. Get a drum kit
The speed and ease for complex processing in my opinion. Midi is pretty much good anywhere but protools
Spitfire lab is the way to go
