I don’t love all the remastered albums that keep coming out, but some are wonderful. My two favs:
The Beatles, Let it Be Naked Fleetwood Mac, Rumors
It’s not easy to get a good finish on MDF with paint.
Congrats on your successful voyage. Were you actually steering all that way through? Most boats have an auto helm. It makes long passages a lot easier.
I bet you’re remembering the early mono to stereo conversions.
Ok, I think I projected my own experience with non profits onto you.
I would not try this as a low code project, in part because those platforms, such as MS power apps, SalesForce, etc don’t save you that much coding time in the end, and then charge high monthly fees to use the app.
If I were going to take on such a project (I wouldn’t), I’d study the heck out of a platform. Either Next.js or Laravel would be my choices. Then I’d code it myself using object oriented principles, a JavaScript framework, a CSS framework, and GitHub actions.
If those words worry you, study up, because those are the workflow technologies that will keep you sane when you need to iterate, make upgrades, add features, etc.
Then I’d try to come up with a MVP that the org would be willing to back. Start with the most minimal version possible.
Every extra dollar you spend on the DAC will return a noticeable improvement in sound. I’m sure there are diminishing benefits as you keep going more expensive. But I believe the DAC is where the magic happens. The improvements are most noticeable in the low end, with bass sounding louder and more detailed. Also the lower midrange, such as lower register guitar strings, will sound more forward and lifelike.
I don’t understand the problem.

It’s a non profit that thinks the planet owes them a web app. Just imagine it, and it will be donated.
It sounds like you really know jQuery well. But some of the projects you’ve done certainly need state management. I’m assuming you handle this by having jquery write data into HTML attributes. This is sub-optimal. State should be in memory, not written into the DOM.
If I had the freedom to pick a JS framework, I’d look into Solid, or Svelte. React is a pain to work with. Vue is a little better.
In any case you should learn a framework, rebuild one of your apps with it, and then decide if it makes sense for you.
(Edit) If you have something that doesn’t need state management, like maybe you have a few hundred HTML pages, and you just need to pull some data, like maybe a menu, and drop it on the page, and maybe animate the drop downs, jQuery is fine. jQuery is great for animations! But a dashboard? I’d use a framework for that.
Yeah the Sambas are on top of the maybe list.
I’m in the same situation. I’d love to build a pair of speakers like the C Notes, but with larger woofers.
The aluminum cone woofers in the C Notes, which I think are 5”, also come in 6.5” and 8” versions. Too bad Parts Express doesn’t offer kits with these woofers. Or maybe there is a reason why this is technically not feasible?
The P50 powers both the Pi and the amp4, because the amp4 is designed to forward power to the Pi. Just plug the 15v barrel socket into the amp4. If you just want to power the Pi, you can use the P50, but use one of the USB sockets.
The P50 has two USB sockets, and one barrel socket (for 15v). But I found that I couldn’t use more than one output socket, no matter what I was plugging into. On the spec sheet for the P50, it seems to say you can power three devices simultaneously, but I didn’t find this to be true.
How about not trying to get your point across by making jokes? It doesn’t seem to be working.
I’m an outlier, but I basically don’t like expansions. In every single case, I like the base game better. I realize that some expansions make it possible to play with more players, but that doesn’t make it a better game. In my experience adding more expansions and players always makes the gameplay worse.
Nope. The DAC just takes a digital signal from the WiiM and converts it to analog. The analog signal then goes into the radio.
The DAC cannot receive a streaming signal, so the WiiM is needed.
What I removed from the pipeline is the DAC that is built into the WiiM.
The WiiM connects to the home WiFi network. Apple AirPlay sends a digital signal from my phone to the WiiM. I don’t know if Bluetooth is involved. I think it’s just WiFi.
Clear as mud?
The WiiM is the streamer. You can’t stream to the DAC. All the DAC does is convert the digital signal to an analog signal.
I streamed from my phone to the WiiM, and used the optical line from the WiiM to the DAC. Then, RCA cables to the radio. I think the DAC is the SU1. Worth every penny.
I use the same model DAC between my Amazon TV and my Bose soundbar. I get much better sound this way.
The WiiM has a DAC. It’s not very good. I don’t know about the Yamaha.
With my own WiiM mini, when I added a $80 SMSL DAC, the difference was dramatic. Bass was louder and clearer. There was detail. And I was just plugging the WiiM into my little kitchen radio.
I have a minimalist, self made system. It consists of a Raspberry Pi and a Hifiberry amplifier card, with the Hifiberry DSP card.
It’s powered by a Topping linear power supply.
The Hifiberry amp is wired directly to the speakers. I have a pair of self made C Notes, from a Parts Express kit.
I love this system, and listen to it every evening.
The only improvement I’m contemplating is maybe a bigger pair of speakers. I love the C Notes, but the audio fanatic in me still wants a bigger sound. I’m hesitant because I’m thinking I might spend time and money, and end up with a second pair of speakers that I like less than the C Notes.
You are not a bad wife! He obviously loves you, so that makes you a good wife. And the fact that you are on a self improvement quest, to make yourself more romantic, makes you a very good wife.
Keep going. Think of more ways to show him how you feel about him. Think of things you can do together, and enjoy his company.
Veneer is so much easier. Iron it on.
I’m taking a speaker building class where we’re building speakers out of a compressed board. What’s a good way to cover them with something that looks classier?
