I bought a homebuilt 5 years ago that had 50 hours since being built in the previous 10 years and it’s been a bit of a hangar queen. Absolutely bring someone familiar with the kit you’re interested in if you have no previous experience with them.

In my case the airframe build quality was very well done, but the engine would randomly vibrate to a concerning degree. After bringing it home, my mechanic and I discovered the electronic magneto was timed incorrectly. As of today I’m still debugging an issue that’s lead to overhauling the entire fuel injection system.

While I didn’t know everything ahead of time, knowing that it sat lead me to offer lower to account for the possible teething issues, and I would recommend negotiating accordingly.

For the M500 fuel consumption is halved @ 250 compared to 175. Couldn’t get my hands on an M600 manual but I would expect similar characteristics.

In Kubuntu 23 you can simply apt-get install plasma-bigscreen. Create a secondary user account so you can select Plasma Bigscreen as a session from the login prompt. You can choose autologin on the account of your choice later on.

                           A special track name "scan" adds an extra first
                           pass. This extra pass scans subtitles matching
                           the language of the first audio or the language 
                           selected by --native-language.
                           The one that's only used 10 percent of the time
                           or less is selected. This should locate subtitles
                           for short foreign language segments. Best used in
                           conjunction with --subtitle-forced.

Its development has been prioritized for ARM devices. Raspberry Pis and Pine64 having the most activity. The Manjaro builds have it, but aren't always stable.

Further, you have to enable it after installing the OS

1. Open settings and search “Login Screen (SDDM)”
2. Click the “Behavior” button with a settings icon at the bottom of the screen
3. Check “Automatically login”, select your 10 foot UI user, and switch the session to “Plasma Bigscreen”
4. Click apply
5. Reboot and you should see big screen!

I own a II-RG and the comments about insurance cost & availability are dead on. This year’s bill was $4,300 and I’m flying as much as possible to log more time in type to lower that number. A G-III’s hull value is roughly double mine, so assume the premium would also be double.

Fuel consumption on the III is 13.5 gph, aka $81/hr @ $6/gal average

In addition to those, factor in aircraft financing (if applicable), maintenance reserve and parking cost to get a rough idea of the expense.

I have this problem with my Cam 2s also. Motion detection triggers about 10% of the time, most of my captures are branches or flecks of dust. I leave "Smart Detect" turned off because it says it only works on people implying the exclusion of cars and animals. I've made sure to keep the firmware up to date but nothing fixing this disappointing problem.

They're bare bones. Some will just decide not to pair. Motion capture w/subscription plan takes a week to start showing up for some reason, and it will trigger/not trigger for completely irrational reasons. I'm looking into a separate camera system after this bad experience.

All you can do is watch them live, pretty useless. Even with the $5/mo subscription the motion detection paridoxically captures both uninteresting tree & shadow motion while missing people walking right up to the camera ~50% of the time.

Pretty sure it's the precedent of victim's families suing the bejesus out of aviation companies (so, private entities) whenever someone dies in an airplane. The legal costs feed back into insurance premiums which is built into the cost of doing business.
