These recordings have been on heavy rotation on the 7 train. Anecdotally, I have personally witnessed way more subway surfing in the past few months than ever before. Do you think these PSAs are enticing rather than preventing this behavior?
This week alone a train conductor had the slam the brakes because a kid tried to ride from 40 to 33 on the side of the train while a bunch of high schoolers on the platform watched; he stopped the train before the kid made it off the platform. Yesterday, saw a kid dancing on top of a 7 train for about 20 seconds after it departed the station and hopped back down before arriving at the next.
It’s a behavioral nudge. You want to incentivize E-ZPass usage because it costs more money to print/mail/collect the bill. The cost probably isn’t $7.50 but that’s the nudge - you want to make the difference worth it enough that people will sign up. It is a better option than forcing E-ZPass usage because people like having choices.
Hoylman-Sigal and other lawmakers are trying to get Hochul to "resurrect" congestion pricing--with lower tolls. Tell them this isn't good enough and she needs to just stop blocking the existing program
