I get not liking the smell. As a smoker of the marijuanas, I've found that at entry level, you can get away with being stoned at work. Especially during my time in audit where I was pulling samples and tying things out. After joining consulting, it's just way too fast paced. Everything's a fire drill and the client's work is so ridiculously horrendous (if things were good, they wouldn't pay my billable) so you have to be on your shit. So now I do it at home after work like a good CPA 😌
I wish I went blue collar as a electrical, plumber, or another trade. Hard work w hard hours but I think I had enough business savvy to own my own business eventually.

Tbh I just had a recruiter reach out. What I've seen from my peers are 3 usual routes. 1) grind in industry (lots of non cpas), 2) t25 school graduates coming straight to work (most mba but few straight from undergrad), 3) public accounting route
Graduated and took my cpa before working. Started in audit at a small local firm (50k). Got work credits for license, went to big 4 in a bigger city (80k) as A2 and got promoted to S1. Left right after promotion to consulting (100k). Promoted in consulting.
I moved from small southern city, to large city, to NY. So my salary went up, but my cost or living kept going up too. I'm not too much better off than I was before. Something to consider

I'm one of those "I'm a Christian conversative but not a republican" types and the support for Israel is one of the reasons. Can someone explain why the US evangelicals support Israel so staunchly?
