It may be because they shot it to feel like it was filmed in one-shot and the unsteady nature could be making you motion sick?

This video describes the process and cinematography well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOXCqes52h4

I can't think of any that sell fun flavored crisps behind the bar. The area has a heavier influence of Irish pubs, but I would imagine many may scratch that itch. If you're ok with traveling just outside of Boston I'll include a few options:

In Boston:

  • The Black Rose (sort of a tourist trap but also a great place for an afternoon pint. Cooler during the day. This is probably my favorite place for a Guinness in Boston.
  • Emmetts

In Cambridge:

  • The Plough and Stars
  • The Druid (harder to get to, but a damn fine spot)

In Somerville:

  • PJ Ryans (smaller, but pretty solid. A little more effort to get to)
  • The Burren (nothing here is bad, but nothing is notably great either. The back is a music venue but the front is kinda cool. ).
  • Old Magoon Saloon (great pub, good food and solid beer list)

If you want a bar crawl type of experience:

Start at The Black Rose for breakfast and a pint -> walk to Emmetts for a pint -> get on red line at Park St and head towards "Alewife." Get off at Central Square and walk to The Plough and Stars for a pint. walk to Harvard square, explore a bit and hop on the red line again heading towards Alewife. Get off at Davis Square. Walk ~10 minutes to PJ Ryans for a drink. Walk back the 10 minutes and end for a drink at the front bar at the Burren.

if you end up going, book a massage or two during the day. They were great and your back will thank you after all the off roading

Yeah the animal density wasn't as much as other areas, but honestly we saw a ton of animals and not a lot of other tourists which was kind of nice.

To answer your question we saw elephants, lions (and they recently introduced a new pride of lions since I went in 2023), black and white rhinos from the big five pretty much most days. We saw a ton of other animals (zebras, springboks, cheetahs, giraffes, etc and tons of birds if you're a birder). The guides were all pretty awesome too

edit: fixed wording so I sound +/- like a functional adult

When we were in South Africa we had a great time at the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve. We stayed in one of the Dwyka Tented Lodges. We were already visiting SA so this option made sense for us and they offer pick up/drop off in Cape Town (at a hotel or the airport) for an additional charge.

I wouldn't say it was cheap, but it was all inclusive and we felt ~$800/night was well worth it for 3 or maybe 4 nights

For Little Book at least there’s also some in Everett, MA as well. No bottle limit on the card, but I only saw one in the case a few hours ago. (if you’re in the area, wegmans in Medford has also had several bottles a few days ago but I think it was maybe $10 more)

I didn't see any comments yet on Fanta. On a whim recently made a WannaFanta (I have no idea if that's a real cocktail name)

1 part Probitas rum

1/2 part lime juice

4 parts Mexican Fanta

Served over crushed ice. Not gonna lie, it was pretty delicious for a low effort summer drink

Some ideas, but they are closer to a scavenger hunt I think:

Find a dinosaur (museum of science)

find a giant milk container (children’s museum)

tea in the map room (Boston public library)

Slide the Cop slide

Get a creampie (Omni Parker House)

Smoke indoors (stanza dei sigari)

See inside Fenway (bleacher bar or tour)

Put see a duck boat as your center square

Get food poisoning (eat +/- anything at union oyster house)

"people who know where to get good coffee, enjoying the weather while catching up"

(if you don't know these people, it's really weird that you took and posted this photo)

Get reservations for dinner but for the north end this can be a nice combo:

Dinner at Lucca on Hanover st Then Coffee and maybe some Tiramisu at Cafe Paradiso across the street. They make a good espresso martini if that’s your jam. It’s also an older north end feel, less romantic but has a feeling of authenticity

I haven’t been to Lucca in a while, but it checks boxes on romantic vibes and their food is above average. They have a good wine list as well.

Double check the night beforehand, you may not want to be doing a romantic night out during one of the summer feasts in August-September. Or lean in and have that be part of the fun, but you’ll want to know beforehand

Not sure if it'll be death, but I do like this idea. In my head though Kal somehow takes the place of a herald in that he gets sent to Braize and him staying there makes it so the fused can't be reborn (Oathpact 2.0). I could see him dying as far as folks on Roshar are concerned though.

If you’re stressed you can always buy the cheapest 1-way greyhound bus ticket to Toronto or Montreal that leaves in 10-14 days and then can use that as your international proof of travel. You want to go directly through the state department though. No need to go through a middle man, not worth the extra cost.

I imagine most places that take reservations would be hard last minute, so the place that jumps out first is Joyful Garden in Watertown. They’re huge, parking is very easy since it’s in an old mall, and have some tasty dim sum.

Good luck!

These green top bottles are a pretty solid rye and makes for a tasty Manhattan if you're not into drinking rye neat. If the price point isn't a deal breaker it's worth the little extra $ in my book. (If you ever see a purple top at MSRP, definitely pick that up

I don't think there is any at the airport. Someone on here recently suggested Luggage Hero and it seemed like they have several locations in the city. So you would just need to book that in advance and should be able to drop off for the day while you explore. I have not personally used the service, but it looks like it gets good reviews at a glance

Can’t you bring the paperwork to the RMV and have them hand you new Massachusetts plates in the same visit?

It’s been a while but that’s what I did the last time I did a private purchase of a car.

https://www.mass.gov/how-to/apply-for-a-certificate-of-title - since it’s time sensitive for you I suggest the “in person” route

I assumed it was a troll and looked at their recent posts.

Recent comments on subreddits like Conservative, Libertarian, Republican.

So perhaps not a troll, maybe just poorly informed and likely not looking to improve their world view. But anyone that suggests police actually are good at de-escalation has likely never had an actual interaction with a police officer (or are, themselves, in law enforcement and are part of the club).

not directly on a podcast platform, but a reddit user came through like a champ a while back and the google drive looks like it's still active

agreed, when I've needed an L3 charger I've had good luck with the EA set up in Arlington behind Tatte/Bank of America. I haven't tried the EvGO in Medford near Chipotle/Aldi yet, but love seeing more L3s go live in the area.

It would be great to see some in Somerville that aren't Tesla. I don't think we have any, but if you know of some please share the details!

for what it's worth the implementation on BoardGameArena has been pretty solid and they just released Cities and Knights

That was my mistake, I quickly added it before a meeting and thought I hit paste but must have missed that.

I meant the two guys over at https://bostonchaiparty.com/

I've ordered from these guys and have never regretted it. They used to be at some farmers markets/SoWa, but not sure if that's still happening.

edit: https://bostonchaiparty.com/ sorry that link didn't paste before I hit send

in my experience, many places only offer thin waxy napkins that are kind of useless. So 90%+ is true, but sometimes they suck, especially at quick food options.

Grabbing some cloth options at Hands is cheap and easy and may make traveling a little more comfortable
