I've shouted her out here before but I love Chelsea Callahan, she's by far my favorite "running influencer." Watching her latest YT video on training for the half and I find it so refreshing to see her running gear not be emblazoned with Lululemon/Tracksmith/Bandit. Even her lint-covered running hat was super relatable.

She lost me with that short video complaining about her classmates' privilege while being utterly blind to her own privilege. Then everything that came after: broadcasting her legal disputes with her landlord; the whole restaurant mishaps; she's the epitome of a sheltered, rich girl fumbling around while everyone else cleans up her messes.

That said, I will say she's a great editor and I like how she doesn't load up her videos with ads like other influencers do. She should stick to the long-form travel vlogs but I pity her boyfriend who came to Korea to flex his chef chops but is now relegated to being her videographer.

Cryptorchid neuter kitten

Species: CatAge: 5 monthsSex/Neuter status: Underwent neuter last FridayBreed: Maine CoonBody weight: 10 lbsHistory:

Clinical signs: My kitty had one undescended testicle so had to do a cryptorchid neuter last Friday. The day after the procedure, he seemed much more lethargic and low-appetite but we chalked it up to the drugs from surgery still being in his system. Now, a few days later, while slightly improved, he's still a little lethargic, not eating as much, but finished the 3-day course of post-surgery pain medicine. Today, when we went to check his incision under the onesie (that he has to wear for 10-14 days), we noticed what looks to be an open hole that's leaking some sort of liquid. I'm going to call the vet tomorrow morning but wanted to ask if anyone else has seen this before? Could it be the surgical glue?

It doesn't seem to be painful/bothering him.

Here is a photo of the area: https://imgur.com/a/CUNehJQ

She gives some good info but I find her crazy overconsumption and her husband wildly annoying.

Thank you! I find her videos both soothing and motivating, and it’s pretty impressive she does videos regularly while on the med school grind.

She's a new watch for me but I appreciated her video on weight loss and being honest about what it takes/how it's a very gradual process.

Makes me wonder what's in the Austin water for all these runfluencers: Matt Choi, Makayla, Nicole Winter, Dominic F.

zoenotzoey

Anyone follow her? I really like her NYC videos where she cooks and eats out and talks about the books she's read (as a basic ex-NY betch) but the vibes with her new BF seem off. In her most recent convenience food video, he kept harping on every thing she chose as unhealthy or too much sugar - I guess enough other people noticed and left comments. (Her baby voice does get grating but she seems otherwise sweet and level-headed.)

Ahahhahhhahah girl I’ve got a bridge to sell ya if you think this guy is gonna put a ring on it. Give it up and find someone else.

I also do NOT recommend SMG Brookline in Brighton. Horrible front desk staff, impossible to see the doctor unless you’re good with an appointment five months out. Online patient portal a total mess. I liked my ob gyn, I just never saw her.

He seems like such a huge douchenozzle, it has to be a parody. His most recent IG video is basically "If you're like me and you're bored after making your first $500k in a year, let me help you figure out your why."

Let's be real, which PCP in the Boston area actually has openings in the near future?

Kelly and Greg are my favorites - consistently challenging programming, good music. You're also in luck b/c the treads at BBY are the best I've run on (smooth, gets to speed quickly, slightly downward tilt), while the ones at Chestnut Hill make me feel like I'm slogging uphill the whole time.

Corepower is my go-to but the classes are so inconsistent. Temperatures vary wildly from barely warm to Satan's bumhole (i.e., the only class I've ever had to leave in the middle). I usually stick with one or two instructors that I know are good.

If I'm feeling motivated, I take a look at what's going on/concerts/free events/exhibits. Mostly I use the weekend to play catch-up on groceries, laundry, paying bills/taxes that I procrastinated on during the week. Boring adult stuff.

Hair straightening/blowdry

I am fed up with my hair. What are y’all’s recs for hair straightening and blow dry/out places?

For everybody fights, is it ok for someone with zero boxing background?

Gym or HIIT workout class near Haidian

Hi! I'll be visiting Beijing on April 3 and 4 and staying in the Haidian district. Can anyone recommend a gym that offers day passes (just need a treadmill and some free weights) or a good HIIT workout studio nearby? Thank you!

I like ark, Monday, and negative underwear. The ladies in the nyc thread also liked maaji!

Le’s salon in Chinatown. Very no frills, the stylist will be doing a million other things at the same time, you’re in and out. I got what I wanted for I think less than $40 including tip?

I've had the opposite experience so it might depend on where you are. I'm in Boston and a few Barry's classes are always greyed out in the ClassPass app, like the 6:10/7:20am or 5:30pm ones. ClassPass will also just assign you to a T or F, usually the ones right by the door, and I can't change them on the Barry's app - I just show up a few minutes before and ask if they can manually switch me to another one.

CorePower (multiple locations), Down Under (South End), Evolve (Southie), Radiant Yoga (South Boston) all have it! It's super relaxing and always puts me in a chill mood right before bedtime.

Workout suggestions?

I've fallen into a workout rut and would love to hear any gyms/studios/classes/favorite hiking spots you ladies like!

My current schedule is:

Barry's: I like the sequence and the occasional fire playlist and oh my god is it expensive but I've found most of the instructors/people who go to be on the cliquey, not very friendly side. If any of y'all are fellow Barry's devotees, I'd love to get recs on your favorite instructor.

Yoga:

  • Corepower: Like the huge range of locations but the classes themselves ain't cheap (even if you buy on ClassPass) and I loathe Yoga Sculpt.
  • Down Under: Not bad but I'm not a fan of Iyegnar or some of their other offerings.
  • Baptiste (Brookline): Got a bit of a cult-y vibe. Room also smelled.

Have heard good things about solidcore.

Would like to get more into strength training but intimidated by CrossFit. Maybe F45 or Everybody Fights?

Masterpiece Dentistry in Copley! Their front office staff are a gem.
