If you have an e-reader and your local library does digital, you can probably check out a copy. It's not nearly as popular as the Dune books and is probably quickly available.

This is better than some of the other posts. Butters is fundamentally a nerds nerd. Any overt coolness in his appearance or mannerism ruins the effect for me.

His coolness comes from inside, from who he is to his friends and enemies and his attitude.

One of my favorite characters, and somewhat underrated by many.

I agree with the protagonist statement. In the grand scheme of the Dune books Paul was a great character and essential.

But as protagonist of a novel/story, Jorj is so much better.

Honestly I leave the governor on beauracrat (tax/morale, spyops/spyrec, container mgmt — turn on container build briefly when you need to build more) and leave govt on oligarchy until federation.

Unless I’m looking to use military force to take over the world (for an achievement etc), I let my spies do all that work while I build and research.

But I’m by no means an advanced player either.

This. If you spend hours looking to balance and justify every little detail in a beloved work of fiction…it might be time to go outside for a walk.

Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher. The series doesn’t really grip you until book three. And while the events and players of 1 and 2 are called back to, Jim was figuring out the setting and world. Harry (a wizard for hire in modern Chicago) makes a magic potion in book one. Never happens again. Books 1 and 2 are okay but forgettable compared to the rest of the series… 17 novels and counting, plus many shorts and a few brief novellas.
