Yeah fair enough, I fully admit that was childish of me
Kayne from the Malevolent podcast, motherfucker's an old god who's able to break off fragments of the King in Yellow's soul at will and holds a non-linear perception of time and space and is very likely able to rend our main characters into spare atoms.
Yet here's giggles mc-gee eating a bucket of popcorn while our main character is bleeding out on the floor and casually announcing that he was also Jesus Christ. (Design by @pinchofpeppers on Twitter)
A giant photorealistic hand descended from the sky and handed them a wet little baby Allen like a SpongeBob bit
I may just be biased but Alan Tudyk's Optimus voice is amazing and I'd love to see him in future projects
I wanna say about 5 or so so far, with T30 Springer on the way!
How about a dune buggy? It's fast, cute as a button yet cool at the same time, and fits with the whole bug theme Bumblebee's got
Bayverse revisionism. I get that the Bayverse films have their fans, and if you are a fan of them, great! Liking stuff is cool, even if other people think it's dumb.
30+ message threads trying to paint Optimus "we will kill them all" prime as a brilliantly written tragic war hero that rivals the likes of Odysseus instead of really just a proxy for the writers to get in as much robogore into the movie as possible is just silly to me. Like, c'mon y'all, it's not that deep.
I see that the Joker's brother got a new hustle instead of rayguns
I am also some people, I held out long enough to get BBM Megatron
Very fair, it's extremely channel awesome-y, as Spaceman Scott would put it
I mean I hope it was a damn good margarita
Either way, pretty good list! The only placements I only mildly disagree with are Winter of 83 and Walton Files, but I do understand you meant to place W.F higher.
MyDad'sTapes had some great presentation but it got real fuckin' silly real fuckin' fast
Go to War by Nothing More
"Every feeling in my bones tells me to lash out, tell you to FUCK OFF"
They're like Psychicpebbles and Wrath Club if Psychicpebbles and Wrath Club weren't funny
I don't wanna say glad because I'm afraid it'll make me seem like an asshole
Say what you will about the Fortnite designs of a snippit of the Greek pantheon but at least it seems like they had fun designing them. The only really stereotypical one is Zeus.
Then again, I don't really think it's worth arguing about. These movies wrapped up almost a decade ago, and life's too short to argue about shitty writing in a film franchise that has been left to gather dust while paramount and Hasbro go on to other projects. Let Bayverse Optimus and everything around him rest. Leave the demon to his demons.
Design wise he's cool (well, at least until AOE hits), but I can't help but find his characterization to be lazy and derivative. The flanderization of him becoming more and more violent for the sake of just because makes him feel less like
"a morally grey tortured soul who's tired of the endless fighting so instead of finding a peaceful solution he's given up all hope and just kills anything in his path" and more like
"a lonely suburbanite teenager who hates his parents watched some episodes of G1 and thought it would be way cooler and realistic for the gentle and strong truck dad to rip his enemies heads off and shriek 'I'LL KILL YOU' in several encounters" ya-know? Like, it feels lazy. It's giving robot chicken.
I think that something a lot of people forget (especially in nerd spaces) is that generally fascistic characters don't automatically start that way. Like, Hitler didn't have aspirations of world domination the moment he popped out of his mom/aunt, that sort of mentality was forged over years of terror and unchecked mental illness. I think Megatron should be written in a similar way, granted I don't there's an adaptation that has really scratched the itch for me quite yet. Here's to TF;One for hopefully exploring his descent into madness in a cool way!
