On Facebook join the Droid division group. Lots of mods to animate the droids.

It's a spare time project funded with beer money. I could crank out lots more with $ and help.

I have a day job so progress is only made in my spare time. I wish I had an apprentice. 🤣🤣🤣 And someone really good in 3D art and design.

Good maybe it is growing on the community. The comments have been awesome! 🤣🤣🤣

Yes it's a little bit jumpy right now. I'm upgrading the servos and installing springs. Also programming the movements will make it smoother. Right now just getting the mechanics to work is not easy.

As progress is being made I'll post. It's going to be a long drawn out thing. This nightmare fuel creation is hard work. 🤣🤣🤣

New eyes on the way in a few weeks.

I'm working on new eyes and have a small air sprayer and paint, but getting the mechanics right first then I'll fix up the eyelids and skin color. Right now it's sandable auto primer.

Someday it will say yes. 🤣🤣🤣

Correct. And once the robot controller is fine tuned it will be much better. I'm still trying to get the hardware working and body together. If I waited until I was done before posting we would all be old or maybe worse. 🤣🤣🤣

Yes it will talk so much! 🤣🤣🤣

Yes it's awesome! I'm building mine with beer money so it's not going to be able to do that. 🤣🤣🤣

I'm working on some new Anime eyes trying to figure out what size to use so they are not so large and won't seem to look left right or up down. I measured and think 23 mm pupils might work and I found some on Etsy. It's going to be a total experiment to see what looks right so if it looks weird or looks good I will definitely post it for comments.

Also knocking down the weight by using no infill. It works on lots of parts but not all

You can see my work on Instagram @frogdad.rainylune I agree it's not an easy project. I was only making it for a display piece at a tradeshow to attract attention to a booth.

It has become a major project requiring lots of spare time. I'm trying to improve it. I'm thinking the way to finish the design is with a metal robot frame and only use the pla as a surface shape and not for support. Maybe TPU would be even better. The servos in the legs and arms will need to be thought out. Good luck on your project. I'm working on eyes next because everyone was freaking out about them.

The design for the STLs I used were open source. But if you Google anime bjd you get many choices both open source and pay the artists.

This is just a hobby and a prototype and it has to be cut melted, glued, sanded and painted. Hoping to redesign the joints and use TPU for flex.
