Madison hut opens on May 30 and takes reservation. Otherwise, the Perch is the closest for FCFS. There's also grey knob.

Thanks. I've been checking weather and rn looks like a few days of sun when I arrive. I think I'll go with the sleeping bag to be safe. Nights in the high 50s according to forecast.

Absolutely this. Many airlines have bereavement rates.

Camino Portuguese portoQuestion

Leaving for Porto next week. Trying to decide between a light fleece blanket or a 50F degree sleeping bag. I plan to stay in municipal albergues. If you are on the walk now, what's the temperature like at night indoor? Thanks.

I strap mine to the side pocket of my pack.

That doesn't sound right. It's a good school. I suggest you talk to some professors and also contact the career center at your school to help you get internships.

Where do you go to school and get such bad advice? We advise our students to get as many internships, paid ones, as possible.

I should add that the huts that are open during off season are also easier to get to and probably still a harder hike than you'd encounter on the Camino. I've done all the huts but have not been to the Camino. Doing my first in a couple of weeks. The huts are considered back country so no paved or even gravel roads, all hiking paths (narrow, rooty, rocky).

The AMC huts in New Hampshire provide food and lodging when in season. There are a few huts that are open during off season for self service when you bring your own sleeping bag and food. Outdoors.Org or search for AMC huts. They're expensive for in season but pretty reasonable for off season which ends by the end of May.

Thanks. I'm vaccinated and now I think I may bring some masks, just in case.

I'm starting from Porto in a couple of weeks. Is COVID prominent on this route? I'm planning to stay at municipal albergues.

Interesting. Topos is what I'm considering. I switched from Hoka to LP and got a much better fit. Guess I'll stay with LP. The Camino will provide if I need something else, right? ;)

Anyone with experience using Altra Lone peak (7 or 8)Question

I've done a lot of multi day backpacking in these shoes and they have worked well for me, no blisters. I ill be walking from Porto to Santiago in the last week of May. I know there will be more road walk, including cobble stones. Does anyone have experience walking in these shoes and do they last on these surfaces? I wonder if I need something with more cushioning and/or soles that last longer. Thanks.

I'll be doing the exact same route, starting May 24. I've only booked room in Porto as I plan to stay in albergues as much as possible. I'm so excited to start.

Canned sardines (many favors) are both cheap, full of good nutrients, and good for the environment.

I'm sorry. That's a terrible situation. I would strongly suggest getting a lawyer and make sure that the document he signed to give up full custody will hold up in court. Otherwise, he can go back on his words.

I use a Ziploc container with screw on lid. It's also my coffee mug and I pour hot water in it to "cook" oatmeal for breakfast. So it can replace your yogurt container.

Check on AliExpress. Nature hike is not bad.

Absolutely! Her stories are not the easiest to read. Reminds me a lot of Le Guin.

Take a personal finance course as one of your electives at college

Nice!!!! What materials did you use for the bottom?

There will be one caretaker. You can use their kitchen and cook your own food. You have to bring your own food and sleeping bags.

Of course you have to do your own clean up etc. pack in pack out.
