You may want to redact the entire QR code next time. QR codes have significant redundancy built in, and partially-redacted QR codes may still work. I think this particular image is fine, but just wanted to let you know for the future.

Right—generally we'd like the OP of each post to add that themselves. Thank you!

Thanks. A little more instructive "recipe" would've been helpful for those who don't want to watch the video.

To those that don't want to watch the video, basically sauté them all together and wrap in a tortilla.

u/jhagen651 could you post a written recipe?

Mushrooms in my yardID Request

I am not interested in eating or harvesting these (unless someone especially recommends it), but I wanted to make sure that these wouldn't be toxic to my dogs. My dog does not seem interested in eating them, but I wanted to double check.

Also, I am just curious what these are.

Area: Twin Cities in Minnesota. The pictures were taken in the first week of October of this year.

Edit: Added pictures

There are "barbershops" that will also be comfortable cutting women's hair. They don't offer any of the other services—it's literally only cutting the hair—but are very affordable. If you don't need the curls or coloring or highlights or whatever, call some barbershops in the area that have experience with women's hair.

Replacement Rain Fly for MSR Elixir 4?

Hi /r/CampingGear,

Just came back from a camping trip where my MSR Elixir 4 rain fly failed to hold back the rain in a heavy rainfall situation. It was pretty much raining inside so we had to escape to the car for the night.

I have another trip coming up in 3 or so weeks and waiting for any warranty repair or replacement from MSR (if they’d even do it) would take too long.

Does anyone know where to source a replacement rain fly? MSR themselves doesn’t seem to offer it. I wish they would sell individual parts so we can just replace whatever breaks.

I’m considering stripping the urethane coating and reapplying my own. I’ve never done this, so any pointers would be helpful.

This upcoming trip is a backpacking one so I would like to bring my lightweight MSR rather than a car camping one which still has a working rain fly.

Thank you for any advice!

This is such a relief! The hot July had me worried. Thanks u/tjs1987!

Have you been to either of those parks around Labor Day weekend?

Late August/Early Sept Weather & Bugs?

Hi everyone,

I've got a reservation at Itasca State Park for 8/26-8/28 and Split Rock Light House for 9/5-9/7. I'm wondering generally how the weather and bugs are.

Obviously, this is different every year, but if there's no unusual weather events, what can I expect?

Thank you!

I think I've been to Duncan, but I will have to check out Rose Lake. That's outside BWCA right?

Thanks for the suggestion! I will keep that in mind for future adventures, but this time we want to canoe instead of backpacking.

Thank you! I will have to check that out.

After some quick research, it looks like there's motorboats on that lake? Was it an issue with noise when you were there?

Thanks! This is exactly the kind of suggestion/advice I was looking for!

Makes sense. In that case, looking for State Park suggestions!

I thought BWCA wouldn't be as busy/popular in late Sept/early Oct due to dropping temperatures. Do I have that wrong? Is it the most popular time?

I just checked on recreation.gov, and it looks like they aren't even taking any permit reservations right now? In a "normal" year without all these fires, when are some of the last permits you can get in a year?

Looking for Suggestions

Hi r/MinnesotaCamping

I am looking for thoughts & suggestions for MN State Parks or Boundary Waters entry points/lakes for 2-3 days in the last week of September.

I would like to be right on a big lake or near a lake that is free of motor boats. We like to canoe.

We are used to the back country, so no electricity/water is required.

Nice to have but not required is to be near Ely.

Let's hope the fires die down soon!

edit: fine with just State Park suggestions. I like the idea of being able to reserve a site for sure anyways.

Big Lake?
Big Lake?

I was looking at some camping options in late August/mid September and any time in between. I'm pretty flexible. Probably 2-3 nights tops. Canoe in and back country is good. Set up camp and just canoe/explore around. We want a big lake to canoe around. No big loop routes or portages. Something simple (wife has only been once, so we want to keep it simple). We want to be near Ely so we can visit the Wolf Center on our way back down.

I was looking at Big Lake. It looks like it's outside the official Boundary Waters area, which means it doesn't require a permit. I'm happy to get a permit, but I'm also happy to be flexible due to the wildfires, unpredictable weather, etc.

Does anyone know how popular the campsites are on Big Lake?

Based on my requirements, would you suggest any other lakes?
