This happened to me too! Texts and Instagram messages from tons of people I haven't spoken to in years telling me they were thinking about me when the clock hit zeroes. Didn't expect that to happen, but a welcome surprise.

I think it was the 2013-14 season when we finished with 66 points and our leading scorer was Nick Bjugstad with 38 points. I went to many many games that year and around that time, and I may or may not have felt like one of only 7 people in that arena sometimes.

I USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THIS

I spent a few hours cataloging every non-base card I had in a spreadsheet. Columns for year, set, player, team, insert/sub set/serial number (if any). Now whenever I get something new I just add another row to the sheet. Lots of time investment in the beginning but with regular maintenance it’s easy to stay on top of it.

I keep my non-base collection sleeved in binders for now but I’ll probably eventually move everything into top loaders and boxes for space and weight saving purposes. Base cards are in boxes sorted by year and set.

Oh I’ve 100% given up on pulling a Piastri auto from a box, if I get one it’ll be a single I get on eBay. I don’t even think I’ll open another box unless the price. I think they do team principal autos now too which is an even further dilution.

I’m two boxes deep of 2023 F1 Chrome and pulled exactly one base Piastri, who also happens to be my favorite driver. Popped over to eBay to nab a couple parallels though, maybe I’ll get an auto of him if I wanna break the bank one day

I also collect F1 cards and yeah, opening packs and boxes of F1 cards is just as much a gamble as hockey cards. I do think that Topps’ quality control is better than Upper Deck’s though, better centering and fewer damaged cards straight out of the pack.
