I’ve recently moved out west to work as a bike mechanic and I can’t find a place to rent in the town I work in. I was looking at a converted RV (solar, sink, full size bed, stove, but no fridge) for 26k. It’s a 2015 ford transit mid roof mid body and twin turbos. Any advice for if I should buy it or not??
Tian Shan Traverse August 2023 24 M looking for a friend to bike pack the tian Shan traverse, 20 ish days, Central Asia!
Heya! I was the first one to buy a chaski, the picture on their website is actually my bike! It’s an okay bike but… their customer service is absolutely terrible and the chain line is pretty bad. I broke my hanger in early April, more than a few weeks back (I got it before they put a udh on it) and I have barely been able to get them on the phone. So while it’s an okay bike, if anything goes wrong you are likely screwed due to the unique naI would strongly recommend against it. Go for a name brand and you’ll get a better product with much better support.
Race is absolutely not hereditary, it’s a social construct. For example in South America money can change how your individual racial category is viewed generally in society.
Gender is a social construct not necessarily based on the material world. Yeah sex is material, but the defining of roles, allocation of power, etc is constructed. Race is also socially constructed, so I would argue you could be race fluid in some aspects, but race in the US is based on skin color primarily, making it hard to change. However if you look at examples like Brazil, you can see Pele who was by uS definitions black, but by Brazilian definitions white. Basically, it’s harder to change and has different societal ramifications. I would argue that gender is a much less rigid social construct and thus is easier to bend to something you can move between.
Dude, get the facts right, it’s more complicated than you make it out to be. There are a lot of exchanges between protestors and the ccp and this was the last one. There was weeks of lead up that you are just totally missing
I mean, with vintage you generally have to paint the whole frame, even with the known paint color. It’s a pain the ass, so I wish you luck finding one!
Just on the abs, this move is super painful and hard to pull off even without balls involved
Lol, this position is banned in like literally any US race
For me, it’s mostly the spam of stupid AI posts in the last weeks, thanks for adding nothing of value to the sub!
Do note that the ice sheet and these glaciers are different. Yes, tide water glaciers are melting much faster than expected, but they represent a small portion of all the ice in Greenland compared to the ice sheet that is not tidewater. Source: I’m a glaciology student in university
They knew what was going on. Sure not every single person, but the vast majority of the German population knew. An example of this is the German Burocracy, they were given the “Jewish problem” and told to solve it. Whole each individual may not have know the whole scope, or have been responsible, there still was broad recognition and participation. I know this isn’t really what you asked, but the problem of compartmentalized thinking is real, and was fist applied to this sort of social issue by the nazis.
Mountain bikes… they are just so fun!
Might get me banned for this one, but Mao says it well when he says that dogma is less useful than dog shit, which personally I agree with. I've read a fair bit of theory, and what I took away most from it is the need for flexibility. If a revolution can't adapt and change to the realities of the world it is worthless and there is no point in supporting it. At this moment most of us are so royally fucked, more than any other time in history, so why not try something like left unity?
But also consider that many libertarians are perfectly happy with capitalism. So, in some ways yes it would be more feasible, but would it be the right thing to do? Personally, I'd say no.
I mean, it made me laugh ...
What is the most obscure trivia you know about LOTR?
My schwalbe tire always seemed a bit too large, but this seems extreme
Duh, of course! I had six on there at one point
Heya! I'm a 24M graduate student from Canada doing research in Kyrgyzstan this summer. I'm planning on doing the Tien Shan traverse https://bikepacking.com/routes/tian-shan-traverse-kyrgyzstan/ In early august, starting on the 5th from Bishkek (although I can change my dates by about 5 days on either way). I've previously done the white rim loop (in a day), a couple other misc. overnighters in Utah, and the Westfjords way in Iceland. I speak Russian (which is quite helpful in Kyrgyzstan) and will have been in the country since June, so I will be able to organize logistics and pre-ride parts of the route. I'm looking for someone who is decently experienced and is up for an adventure!
