I am with you. I have always thought trek was better on the small screen. There it had the time to explore the complex ethical questions it does best. If it has to go to the screen I think the point should be to blow ahit up and go for big space battles and visuals they don't have the money for or don't work on the small screen. JJ did a really good job of that. But I am pretty bitter about the second one still.
