I am the parent of teen daughters who have been dancing at a small, intermediate studio in CNY for many years. Their studio has a great group of teachers and kids, and a pretty tight-knit competition team, so we’re not looking to move studios.

However, my eldest, who is in high school now, has expressed interest in possibly pursuing dance after high school, with a specific eye towards modern technique. Our studio director is aware of this and is obviously supportive. We are all aware that the competition dance they focus on at our studio and modern conservatory dance is not the same, so we’re exploring possibly augmenting her technical training with some other resources. Think Graham and Horton technique, or even post-modern. She has become very focused on exploring physicality and floor work over the past year or two.

If anyone has any recommendations for studios or private instructors who offer modern technique private lessons, or that have modern-specific technique classes which could be open to dancers who do not take choreo at that specific studio, recommendations would be appreciated.

Just trying to be a supportive Dad and cast as wide a net as possible. Thanks in advance for any insight.
