I think if you do that you run the risk of making the parts much weaker, the vacuum formed parts are probably 3mm or thereabouts? Unless you're printing the 3d printed parts sold I'd be worried about their structural integrity. The difference in material counts for a lot as well, pla or petg are not as forgiving as hips so may not stand up to much flexing or bending.
If you don't have any experience with 3D printing or you want to get a feeling for it before buying a machine another option might be to buy a helmet kit, either a raw print or a resin cast. That way you'll save a few bucks and take (most of) the learning curve out of it and if you find you don't like printing or the amount of sanding that comes with it you don't end up with a 600 dollar paper weight.

The breathalyser tells you if you're over the limit, that in itself doesn't mean you're impaired, I could have 3 pints and be 100% fit to drive but I would be over the limit, should the Gards just take your word for it? Same approach needs to be taken with weed or any other drug, it says here it's in your system but you're telling me your grand, it's your word against the Garda at the end of the day, they don't know how long it's been.
