my favourite conditioner is for colour-treated hair, but there's no reason to not use it for any hair I suppose? I like it because it's really shiny! Matrix Biolage Color Last Conditioner
when choosing a conditioner, choose one that says "moisture" rather than "protein" as too much protein DAMAGES your hair. a protein treatment once or twice a year is fine, but DON'T do protein all the time!
my favourite has been discontinued. try anything that DOESN'T say "sulfate-free" but DOES say pH balanced, or pH 4.5-5.5
OMFSM THANK YOU!
I know from that list that matrix contains "keratin" which could mean some of the cancer-causing chemicals. I need to find one without them, like RUSK before it was reformulated.
I don't know the others, and will look into them!
just seeing this post now;I haven't been on reddit since the whole boycott, just check in occasionally. thank you!
Soft sheen Carson Wave nouveau
thank you! I've messaged the company, asking about ingredients. I hope it is a thio straight perm without any of the brazillian or keratin chemicals added!
one reason ppl think sulfates are bad is an old urban myth
the other is that one has to use sulfate-free shampoo to maintain a brazilian blowout, or keratin treatment.
brazilian blowouts and keratin treatments cause cancer!
the paywall-removed link I usually use is currently down.
the ones that don't contain formaldehyde contain chemicals that turn into formaldehyde when heated during the blowout process. they lie about the amount in them. most hairdressers don't know or don't want to know.
I would not recommend mixing it in with your prescription shampoo.
sulfate-free shampoo coats hair and scalp, and weighs down hair.
some prescription shampoos may coat and weigh down hair.
my recommendation stands.
the best thing to cure dandruff:
shampoo that is NOT sulfate-free, but IS pH balanced.
sulfate-free shampoo usually coats hair in a sometimes waxy-like substance, it probably also coats your scalp, likely causing scalp build-up, as it usually causes build-up on hair.
pH balanced means it's the same pH as your scalp, skin, and hair.
when you have dandruff, add a few drops of tea tree oil into the palm of your hand with the shampoo, wash hair, rinse, condition.
my clients almost always say it works better than their prescription shampoo.
pretty sure you've messaged the wrong comment.

conditioner doesn't have sulfates, they're for cleaning, not conditioning. try whatever conditioner goes with the shampoo
sulfate-free shampoo makes most ppl's hair greasy.
some sulfate-free shampoos will make it greasy and waxy-feeling, so coated in a waxy substance that it's not only matte, it can make it super tangly.
when someone comes to the salon with hair like that, and I can't brush through it without it tangling, I wash it with Paul Mitchell Shampoo Two stripping shampoo to remove the waxy build-up, followed by conditioner. it then brushes out easily, and is shiny!

DO NOT use sulfate-free shampoo if your hair/scalp gets greasy
DO use pH balanced shampoo (pH 4.5-5.5), followed by conditioner.
you shouldn't need clarifying shampoo if you're not using sulfate-free shampoo.
any not sulfate-free yes pH balanced shampoo is fine. it doesn't have to be expensive.
about to have shoulder surgery. want an arm sling/cast because stuck at home for a MONTH in one... :(
thank you for asking the question so I don't keep looking.

the little i you are supposed to click on on the ad is REALLY SMALL on the L side
it usually detangles surprisingly better, which means it would be easier on your hair too.
it makes most ppl's hair coated and greasy, not clean. some sulfate-free shampoos make hair so coated, it is not only matte-finish, but will be very tangly, like you can't even brush through it after washing. one wash with stripping shampoo, followed by conditioner, should fix it.
if you're not using sulfate-free shampoo, you shouldn't have to use strippng shampoo.
feel free to post results!
my favourite got discontinued! if you have colour-treated hair, I'm currently using Matrix Biolage Color Last . the conditioner is really shiny! it's often cheapest at JC Penney - here's the small bottles
if you find some cheap NOT sulfate-free shampoo at target or wherever, feel free to try it, but check that it says pH balanced, or pH 4.5-5.5

wow, those pacman high-tops are awesome.

I WISH I had my pointed doc boots from the '90s! they got mugged away around 2009 or so. they don't make them any more!!! I'm so pissed. :(
no, because I don't usually recommend sulfate-free shampoo.
why do you want sulfate-free shampoo?
brushing it when it's dry separates out the curls/waves, so it looks frizzy instead of curly or beach waves.
I liked ISO; it rinsed really cleanly.
