I had two Fi collars for my Aussie. Neither would work correctly and even when working you only get a location every minute. I tossed them and got a tractive which works and when set in lost mode gives an update every couple seconds.

Repairs are more expensive than many other cars and minis (and bmws) don’t tolerate neglect well. The purchase price is only one part of the expense you have to consider.

Two Pints and Mongrels. Both pretty low-brow but both had moments.

I have a 2024 clubman and have the spare tire option. I have a donut and a jack in the storage area under the floor in the back. I'm swapping my jack so I can use the foam insert inside the donut and free up some storage space. The car came with runflats, but I'm toying with the idea of dumping them at least for the winter.

Example for 17" rims:

nokian hakkapeliitta non-run-flat: $105

nokian hakkapeliitta run-flat: $285

As they used to say on the rock station in Rochester NY: "They ain't related but they do-be brothers"

gonna go out on a limb here and say that car makes weird noises when going straight too...

The only reason I’ve used a native car navigation app is when I’m in a bad cell reception area. New England and particularly Vermont and New Hampshire have a LOT of dead zones. Combine that with them being great biking locations, and it’s easy to get into a region where google maps stops updating. This has been my only reason in the last seven years to use the built in nav.

I just put a stealth hitch on my 2024 Clubman. So far I like it, but we will see how it holds up to New England winters

Do not do that. The houses in this state are such crap you NEED an inspection.

Engineer here, we hate both mechanics and techs. Can’t you tell from the stuff you have to work on that was designed by us?

Example:

Engineer 1: Let’s put the oil filter next to the hot exhaust

Engineer 2: let’s wrap the exhaust around it completely

Engineer 3: let’s also sharpen the heat shields.

Corgi steps, small and lots of them…

that car is old enough to drink. Miles are just one of many potential issues

It’s criminal that they have a captive audience there waiting for a charge and no coffee shop nearby.

Every time I go to Home Depot I think that a coffee truck pulled up there at the right time would be a good deal

It’s quieter, it’s more European feeling. And it doesn’t scream racer boy.

Hope that douche paid for the door damage.

Yeah, I was just at the BMW dealer and had to wait in line behind all the teachers for a test drive.

I’d say that dealer can suck a fat dick. If you are going to screw me for $8k at least have the decency to type out your sign.

This car is not only old enough to vote, but it’s old enough to have an ibuprofen habit.

Do you have a moment to talk about our lord and savior, Blue Dinosaur?

You should have upgraded to the laser version from the dot matrix version.

I had an e90 with the same problem. Dealer gave me the repair estimate and I went home and investigated what was involved in a replacement myself. Then I traded it.

I second this. Had both gen2 and gen3 fi collars and neither could actually track my dog. Tractive works. I’m in a fringe cell service area with lots of trees. Fi just couldn’t lock with gps or cell. Tractive gets the job done.
