Sounds like you want a ruger sfar. It's basically an ar15 scaled up in a few important areas to be able to shoot 308. Regular ar10s are very heavy and are not ideal for hunting.

In college, one of my professors kept telling us "use off the shelf parts as much as possible, even if you have to change your design to use off the shelf parts."

It would be best that you heed this advice. Companies have entire design teams of very well educated engineers and a huge budget (at least to us mere mortals) to develop new engines. You're going to have a lot of heartbreak unless you have unlimited funds to keep throwing at the R&D of this project and like turning metal into scrap.

I'd recommend you pick up a motorcycle engine. A single cylinder dirtbike engine like a 125 two stroke is terrifying in a little cart for someone that isn't experienced in cart racing. A 125 4 stroke would probably be a better place to start. If you have cart experience then you can look at a 250 two stroke or a 450 4 stoke to make a true death trap.

If you're dead set on the v6 and don't care how fast it is, you can look at the little Chinese nitro engines but they won't compare to a proper motocycle engine.

I think ramp steepness and conditions will matter a lot. Do you have picture of the launch ramp you plan to use?

Just remind me much of ANYTHING lives on Venus. Even landers don't last more than a couple hours

His videos might seem light hearted and fun but he's a beast. You can kinda see what those trip do to his mental health being isolated for so long and he seems like one of the most patient and well rounded people I've ever seen. Going days with swell and not so much as a soft breeze must be miserable. Really cool how he does celestial nav by hand and then compares it to his GPS as an exercise.

Yeah I'm about as far from defense as you can get lol

I work in manufacturing (small public company). It's pretty dynamic and I get to be more of a jack of all trades but a master of none. Each day is usually pretty different and it staves off the monotony. I'm also the only engineer so have a lot of freedom to do different things and solve problems the way I feel is best, of course after getting feedback from other depts

Adversaries could see the display shining back on your face

Kinda. Wet clutches are less likely to overheat and gall the packs which makes them more forgiving when slipped a lot. However you have to worry about the stress on the gears and sycros/dogs with a bad shift too as a proper tight clutch will transmit that shock energy of a bad shift to those components. The weakest link that breaks first is usually the sycros on normal car transmissions. Since bikes use dog rings instead of sycros they don't have to worry about wearing/breaking those as much. If you goof a shift on a bike enough times it could be a bunch of things that give but usually it's a gear tooth or the whole gear like in my friends case lol

edit: I forgot about shift forks. Those don't like being slammed and will usually be the first to break if you're stomping on your shifter

Having a wet clutch doesn't have anything to do with it. Is dog clutch vs sycromesh gears

Yep! Good chance at catching a spotty there

Hey its more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow! I ride dirt so it's a little different but I started on a 125 4 stroke like many many others have.

I've moved around a lot and couldn't always have my big bike with me for camping trips with friends in college. They'd lend me their 200s and 125 4 strokes. Still have an absolute blast riding with them after being on big bores for a decade, especially on the tight stuff. Makes me want to get a 125 4 stroke "for my fiance" lol although she's probably hog it cause they're that much fun!

I hope this is referring to the chevron case and not the presidential immunity case

I've damaged pilot jets doing that. Just save yourself the trouble and buy a new one. Theyre cheap and it sucks pulling everything apart, cleaning, and getting everything back together only to realize you have to do it again. The orifice is extremely small and little changes have big impacts with pilot jets.

But agreed, if the bike doesn't run without choke or high idle then it's likely the pilot jet.

At least he responded truthfully when he said he didn't understand. I'm dealing with a tech that just says "yeah I got it" and then proceeds to ignore everything I said and make a mess of our equipment

Yeah don't use clinch knots with braid. Use a doubled up uni.

Edit: by doubled up uni I mean double your line over and use that like it was a single thread when tying. Also this is a great knot to use for braid to terminal tackle like your swivel. However I find swivels are usually not necessary. So I just go braid to leader with an FG knot.

Many will tell you to use a Palomar knot. I've had very poor luck with them because i assume I'm missing how to cinch them down properly, so just use caution and test your knots. I like the double up uni because you either tied it correctly or it won't cinch down properly and it's pretty easy to see that when you have extra loops in your knot. With the Palomar I can't tell when I do it correctly or not.

Know that if you get a single hose unit, it will suck air out of the room and send it outside. This means the air that is being discharged from the room has to be made up and will pull air into the room by the path of least resistance. Air can be pulled from hallways, central heating vents, the attic through light fixtures, cracks in windows ect. Most of the time this air will be hot and sometimes can smell unpleasant.

TLDR: do not get a single exhaust hose unit if possible. Get the double (intake and exhaust) they should be more efficient too!

I cracked the tubes on mine and my HVAC would only blow defrost. Turns out the hvac knobs are vacuum actuated

I mean I see you're point but jet engine =/= a freaking rocket engine haha

I was going to get my pitch fork for says that the Alberto is stronger than FG but with light line I would say that the difference is negligible and Alberto is probably better because it's easier to tie correctly. I start using Alberto at <10lb leader.
