The three pictures weren't enough for you? He's clearly just as pained by the loss as she is. He also never said anything verbally. Why are we assuming that his facial expression automatically translates into a condescensing 'you should smile more?' Lastly, the woman herself went from looking absolutely devastated to a bit happier — his attempt at cheering her up worked.

Reddit completely misunderstands a relationship dynamic?!! Oh my days, colour me surprised.

Seriously, only Reddit can somehow turn a wholesome moment like this into a miserable hate fest

I'm not saying that patriarchy is the reason. I'm saying that assuming the reason to be patriarchy can be an innocent mistake. Indian society tends to put the responsibility of tradition onto women. Assuming that the same mindset is what causes men to not wear traditional is a reasonable conclusion. Like you said, it is the wrong conclusion yes, but reaching that conclusion doesn't automatically have to be because of wanting to bash men.

I think their comment was fair, it isn't really a stretch to assume the reason to be patriarchy. As for bashing men, call me naive but the only way we can bridge the gap is through discourse. Having the mindset of always assuming hostility and 'us vs them' is only going to further the misconceptions we have about each other.

As another comment pointed out, it's less to do with patriarchy and more with classism. Men's ethnic wear used to be looked down upon as poor peoples' clothing which lead most people to wear western.

Yeah you reek of privilege. Be grateful for what you have. As for your argument, that is a clear case of survivorship bias. Yeah MSD and SRK lifted themselves up despite their financial condition, but for every MSD and SRK there are tens of thousands of others who we don't talk about that were unable to overcome their financial situation. Please educate yourself before making blanket statements like 'when there is a will there is a way.'

The situation you're describing is a good return on investment over the course of an entire career. Immediately out of college, CS majors earn far more because experience is valued very less. Other majors would have to invest more money and time into further education before they can expect any meaningful returns. Most people who don't have stable financial situations can't afford to do so.

The wrist is a bone. You can't change its size. The best you can do is work on your forearms to make your wrist look bigger.

Would you be saying the same thing if it was a screenshot of a man with a braindead take?

No worries. India, Ireland, Ivory Coast, and Niger all have very similar looking flags

I think you've mistaken the Indian and Irish flags in your flair

Would be nice if the same standards of morality were upheld internationally in geopolitics. Sadly, that isn't the case and won't ever be.

People say "no morality in geopolitics" because of hypocrisy. Hypocrisy and geopolitics go hand in hand. Everyone realizes this, they just don't care.

wohi, itne exams likhne ke baad bhi identity card kon bhulta he bhai

No? Shorts are longer and cover more than a pair of boxers. They also fit more loosely while boxers stick to your skin

It's great that you realized where your interests lie at a young age. However the same can't be said for most others. Forget career, most 9th and 10th graders would struggle choosing their 12th stream. It just isn't reasonable to expect everyone to make a choice that young.

when both are covering the same amount

But men's underwear rarely ever covers the same amount as shorts. Hypothetically, if they did, then I don't think there would be any difference when answering the door.

I might be speaking for myself but I think the consent goes without saying.

I assumed the point of the post was to discuss why there is a difference in consent beyond just 'that's just how it is'

Because the vast majority of high-schoolers do not know what they want to do in their career. Even how it is now, it's still somewhat unreasonable to expect people to know what branch of engineering they want to pursue. Having branch-specific exams would mean that someone would have to decide at the age of 14 or 15.
