I don't understand this, maybe your testing for capstone is different/simpler in VIC, but here in NSW max demand math, volt drop etc. is something that must be demonstrated thoroughly in capstone, among all the other bits normally we were given a couple of sets of plans, a single house and a bunch of townhouses where all circuits were to be sized, if you couldn't show your maths working you didn't pass and couldn't therefore apply for your licence. If you failed a single section of capstone you had to resit the whole thing in 3 months. The assessors treated applicants like licenced tradesmen, no hand holding at all, if you didn't know your shit you didn't pass, at least where I did it. Failure rate was over 60%

I've been wrenching since I was a youngster and VW/Audi are the only ones I actually check the manual as I've seen too many broken studs/ wheels overtake the car

Look up mighty car mods and Chris fix on YouTube and watch how to do an oil change and how to change a tire, it'll get you started if you want to learn some. Then punch how to change oil/tyre "insert car make model year" and if your lucky there's an exact tutorial for your car watch it a few times and make a tool list . Start with a front tyre change, next week do an oil change and filter. Probably $50 of tools and $50-100 of oil and filter just buy it all from repco or super cheap, have the video handy when you do it and for God's sake buy a couple of jack stands to make life safe and easy

Assuming all the cabling is double insulated I expect it complied when installed, possibly given its vintage even single insulated would have complied around fuses from my understanding of the 1950's era rules, not saying it's compliant by current standards but that's the whole deal of grandfathering regulations, if the circuit doesn't get directly touched and you looped off the main switch/fuse it's ok to run, I don't agree with it but that's the way the rules have been until recent times.

Haha I'm going back with the Mrs and kids to visit the Mrs family next week, hopefully get straight outta Manila and fly down to tacloban. I spent 7 hours one night going from MNL airport to Makati after flying in, it's like 7km.......I feel your pain.

Came here to say Manila, lived there for a couple of years and holy shit you lot don't know how good you've got it!

I fully agree with ya, Wow that stapler looks the goods, the staples are cheaper than cable clips.....

As stated it doesn't change rotation but moving it one pole will change the A phase pole to B phase. I've seen this done with a bunch of the same 3 phase machines where one phase on the machine pulled way more current than the others but they got moved around the workshop regularly, sure you could swap the colours in the back of the breaker but they cared about phase wire colours all lining up...because desk engineers....

The "real" SPLAYDE I just ate with quite happily cuts steak and schnitzel. There is a bit of skill involved and fat can be a bit challenging but I quite literally only eat with a SPLAYDE while at home.

A spork is a completely different utensil with a rounded side rather than the straightened edge on the fork fingers.

At my old job (aircraft engineer) we trialled headset/earmuffs with Bluetooth, 6.5mm interphone plug, Motorola(off memory) radio connection and noise cancelling. They worked pretty well until someone worked out how to turn on the short range directional chat feature, then they were like gods gift! You could be 20m away with 100db engines running and look at Barry and say "Oi, gimme a hand" and it would jump on top of whatever else so he and those standing around him could hear, 3d speakers too so he knew where it came from. I loved those headsets, pretty sure 3m made them and like $2000+ each before covid. could be wrong on manufacturer it's been a while and a quick search didn't yield the chat feature which was the most useful part. Also the ANR would filter horns and beepers on equipment to a level that you heard them without it pissing you off but still knew what direction it was from.

This, Hikvision or Dahua cams work great at night, and if you still need night vision you can install an external IR light source outside the window

I think old mate is saying that you learn more when you have to think for yourself and troubleshoot on your own.

Yep that's NSW to a tee from every metering person I've talked to. Seems like peanuts for the amount of driving done, lots of jova get cancelled in winter due to rain also with no allowance given to subbys

Haha no, just a dude that's great with kids.

My local child care had a guy working there, University qualified early childhood teacher, was honestly the best teacher at the center. 1 year on he left, not because he had done anything wrong but from all the flak he and the centre were copping off the mums, funny how when asked about it the owners said there was not one complaint from any of the dads and all the kids were excelling and they'd love to keep him and didn't care about the b/s complaints.

He's a greenskeeper now.

DOL: direct on line start, po retty much just means there's no electronics related to the motor itself. All the smarts do is engage the Fwd or Rev contactor if the motor has a fault or the load changes (hits something ) the controller doesn't know and will continue to run the motor unless the beam is broken.

Most domestic shutter motors sense motor load via current sense and will stop it too much/little, pretty much all commercial/industrial motors are DOL and only have contactor overloads which are manual reset by the sparky.

Milo first, compress it on the bottom of the glass with a big spoon, then milk on top, then scrape it bit by but off the bottom itll pop up in a chunk, eat that of junk then scrape another

Your welcome

3tb Hik HDDs(wd purple) that come with the machines are renowned for failing, I reckon 40% die within the first year, if they last that long your good for a few years. I reckon someone on one of the shifts in the hik factory hates their job and treats them like crap. All their other hik branded (wd purples) drives are sweet. Expect a bunch of 3tbs on warranty or order machines without drives and let the customer pick......

Stick with the surveillance series wd or seagates.

As others have said hi look, hik vision and dahua are the go to as decent quality with bang for ya buck.

Get a thick kids pencil, it won't break like the regular ones when it gets dropped and they sharpen to a point. I don't carry a notepad but I'm always writing and drawing on pieces of boxes. I do use my sharpie on my hand regularly tho.

Mark out with pencil not your sharpie!!!!!

Take a tape measure. Doesn't have to be expensive just functional and one that you can lock so you can mark and measure.

If you're doing solar a wide brim hat with a back flap, I like the surfing ones (ripcurl, ocean and earth) as they breathe better, not a cheap item but worth it if you are doing lots of it. Otherwise any old wide brim with a chin strap.

Not all will auto reverse on cobtact, if it is a simple logic controller running contactors for up down control it won't stop on contact as there is no load sense available, but the safety beam if positioned correctly should negate this. Looks like the beam is a fair way away from the door in my opinion.

There's a bunch of past capstone theory tests online and you should be able to get them front the teachers/library too

Post it notes were ok when I did it. I marked up heaps and just transfer the post its each time a new standard gets printed.
